Don't get me wrong...I really LOVE this job. But lately, I've been finding myself on edge that I'm going to miss the important things in my kids lives to go attend a birth. Tomorrow night my daughter has a championship basketball playoff game - and I've got 2 clients (one was due on the 24th and one due on the 30th) that are ready to go at any minute. I'm nervous that I'm going to miss it!
The other hard part is never knowing when my pager will go off and how long I'll be gone for. Sometimes it's only 6 hours...and there are time's it has been over 48 hours.
I won't give it up - in fact...my recertification is due soon - and I will definetely recert. I guess I just wish the hours were a little more predictable LOL! But thats mother natures call - and I'll always be there. I can't resist seeing the tears of joy from a new mother and the squished up little face of a newborn anyway!
*Just keep your fingers crossed that I get to make the Championship game tomorrow night!
