Don't get me wrong...I really LOVE this job. But lately, I've been finding myself on edge that I'm going to miss the important things in my kids lives to go attend a birth. Tomorrow night my daughter has a championship basketball playoff game - and I've got 2 clients (one was due on the 24th and one due on the 30th) that are ready to go at any minute. I'm nervous that I'm going to miss it!

The other hard part is never knowing when my pager will go off and how long I'll be gone for. Sometimes it's only 6 hours...and there are time's it has been over 48 hours.

I won't give it up - in fact...my recertification is due soon - and I will definetely recert. I guess I just wish the hours were a little more predictable LOL! But thats mother natures call - and I'll always be there. I can't resist seeing the tears of joy from a new mother and the squished up little face of a newborn anyway! :cloud9:

*Just keep your fingers crossed that I get to make the Championship game tomorrow night! :teeth:

I hope that you get the best of both worlds; greating new babies and cheering at the game!

I'll cross my fingers for you. What a great job to have! I love babies.

You seem so devoted to both. :goodvibes I am sure you will see them both through, and share much of both with us along the way.

:wizard:
I am crossing my fingers for you- and I sent you a PM- I had a couple of questions!

There is no more important work than helping babies come into the world. Thank you for the comfort you bring to new moms.

Babies, alas, are on their own timetable. :)

Hey you could always invite the sooon to be mothers to the game.

Maybe the excitement of seeing your DD win would get them started!

:grouphug: :grouphug: I so respect what you do. It must be so hard to try to blance being a mom and helping others enter into mommyhood.

Hugs to you!

Babies, stay put until the game is over please! (they never listen though!) :rotfl:

I imagine that would be a dilemma. I can't imagine being constantly on call like that, but I also imagine the joy involved in being a part of something so amazing and wonderful.

I have a lot of respect for people who have such demanding jobs, I really do.. I hope you don't have to miss the game!
