Feeding 35 at a BBQ for $100

When my kids were that age, burgers and dogs were much preferred over anything fancy. I think the fact that you're a pastry chef can make the party fancier than it would have been otherwise. And I would worry about doing pork for a group because many people (at least that I know) don't eat it for religious reasons.

Another idea would be a couple crock pots of mac and cheese. Kids that age love it and it is cheap and easy to make. As a side dish, it feeds a lot too.

Have fun planning!

I would recommend pulled pork with slider buns, meatballs with buns, Mac n cheese, and a green salad. If you needed to cut something - cut the meatballs...I would add some watermelon. I would try to find someone to donate the tomatoes and cucumbers if possible or possibly consider asking any parents that want to help to make a salad or bring a bag of chips, and just have some carrot sticks and cucumber slices as a veggie.

I think that the 100$ should pay for decent paper plates and plastic wear so prioritize that above purchasing/making salads or chips. Let guests bring those if they want to help.

Being a former team mom. Let other people help. Other Moms and Dads want to be involved so let them. I would do pulled pork and hot dogs, pasta salad, grilled corn on the cob, make homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches. Throw in some chips and maybe a veggie tray.

1) Do a pasta salad, basic nothing to fancy with Italian dressing style so it can sit out,

2) Ask another to provide the corn -grilled corn on the cobb is a super favorite. Soak the corn in the husk over night in water ,salt and sugar.. make sure to pull the silk out first, strip back the outer husk, not all the way just to the bottom pull the silk out, then pull the husk back up. Grill in the husk, when it smell like pop-corn its just about done, as far as butter mayo jars filled with melted butter is perfect, when eating pull back the husk, but leave it on it make's a kinda handle, perfect for dipping in the butter.

3)Another the cookies and ice cream - store bought chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream - depending on the size of the cookies, you can use about half a scoop or less of ice cream.

4) Another the buns hamburger and hotdog - also ask for them to bring ketchup and mustard.

5) paper products - paper plates, plastic ware, cups, paper towels and /or napkins, also, toilet paper to replace what's used at the coach's house. Trash bags too.

6) Drinks - and ice ( I would ask a couple of families to bring ice it goes quick).

Make sure to have more than 1 cooler, 1 for clean ice to put into cups and others to keep the other drinks cool.

I agree with others that you should let others chip in. If you still want to make the BBQ feel more "special" then you might try being a little more creative with the dessert.

We do a bunch of HOA activities for kids. I think at $100 you'll be fine. Just head to a Costco or similar and buy bulk.

At all of my team parties the team provided the meat and everyone brought something! Most people are more than happy to help / may bring something anyways :) I would say burgers and hot dogs are easiest but pulled pork/chicken would also be good! Potato and pasta salad are easy to do on the side, same with a make your own salad bar! I would also suggest checking out costco or local retailers to see if you can get a deal!

OP here...thanks to all for your wonderful suggestions! I have taken your advice and have delegated! I will be bringing pulled pork, pasta salad (greek style) watermelon, cake, cupcakes, other kid friendly desserts, cooler corn (thanks mom2alix!). I have 2 other moms bringing a salad, drinks and all plates, napkins, cups, cutlery by a sponsor, hamburgers, buns and condiments by another sponsor and an appetizer by another mom, ice provided by the coach. I am just sending out an email to 2 other moms...one for hot dogs and buns (she expressed a pork concern, so I though it best if she bought them), and another for a veggie tray (just baby carrots and sliced cucumber). I would like to add baked beans myself, but was wondering if any of you have an easy recipe either from scratch or for spicing up canned beans?

I am not a baked bean girl myself, but my husband makes baked beans from a can that people rave about. He adds brown sugar, mustard, ketchup, a chopped onion, and lays strips of bacon on top. He bakes it for a couple hours.
