With almost 1000 positive feedbacks I received my 1st negative! The buyer stated the item was not received yet. The buyer did not notify me by email until after they left the negative feedback - I wish they would have let me know before they did, so this could have possibly been resolved without the negative feedback involved.

My question is - with the changes eBay has made to feedback over the last year, can the negative feedback be removed or reversed when this is resolved (if the buyer agrees)? I see there is an option to request a feedback revision - but does that actually change the feedback from negative to neutral or positive, or does the buyer just leave a follow-up comment to the negative? I thought I had read somewhere that it's almost impossible to remove a negative feedback from a buyer, even if the problem is resolved in their favor. I think I also read that even though the buyer did not pay for delivery confirmation or insurance, I still have no choice but to refund the purchase price plus shipping, correct? Lesson learned - always get delivery confirmation and/or insurance! I'm off to work for the day so I can't reply on here til later - thanks in advance for any answers!

Yes, delivery confirmation has been required of sellers by Paypal since they started their Buyer Protection Policy a while back. Without DC, you will automatically lose a Paypal dispute as a seller.

Good thing is if you print your shipping label through Paypal, DC is free for Priority Mail and only .19 for other forms (parcel post, media mail, 1st class parcel).

Sorry about your problem!

Thanks for the info. I thought I had read that, but when I went to do my listings I was so overwhelmed with everything & must have missed it.

So at this point is it best to just offer the buyer a refund & do that on my own through PayPal, or have them request the refund through the Resolution Center so that there's a paper trail via eBay? Is there any other negative effects put upon me as the seller if they file a claim through the Resolution Center? I am fully willing to send the refund, and I'm thinking to let it all go through eBay so it's in writing, but I don't kow if they suspend accounts or anything like that in this situation.

I had feedback revised. The seller left the best comment but with negative feedback. It was obviously an error, so I contacted the seller and sent her the link and she revised her feedback. I'm now at 100% feedback once it was revised.
