I'm in need of a Disneyland "fix" so I'm trying to plan a trip that doesn't involve my children missing TOO much school. They have a few odd days off in October that I'd like to utilize…the free online DL crowd calendars are making me think this might work well for us--am I being too optimistic?

I'd like to be in DL/CA from Monday, Oct 24-Thursday, October 27th. I know this is Halloween time and I know the park might close early on some of those days--in fact, I'd love to know if you think we might be hitting a party day.

Also, is it likely Small World will be closed for the Christmas overlay? I have to be honest, that is one of MY favorites!

Thanks for the input!

I would be inclined to think that you'll be there for at least one party night, but we won't know for sure until the party dates are released (usually sometime in June/July).

In terms of IaSW, it all depends on when they want to re-open it with the holiday overlay. It usually re-open in early-November, so I had to guess, I would say it's likely to close on 10/19 or 10/24.

In terms of crowds, there are some school districts that are out on Fall break during that week. In general October is a pretty busy month, so I would go expecting crowds.

We have gone twice in Oct and both times Small World was closed - on our trip this past Oct we got to ride it on our arrival day, next day it went down for the overlay. We went the week you are looking at going (DD also has a couple of days off that week every year). We did not notice the parks being super packed - and this Oct was both Halloween and 60th. There were a couple of party nights (we went to one), and while the parks closed a little early we managed to get a lot done and then would go to DtD for a late dinner or dessert.

Thanks to both of you for your feedback--I really appreciate it. I love DL but my kiddos are used to going during particularly dead times in September…sadly that time no longer is an option as they are older and can't miss school at that time any more.
