Federal income tax refunds

I filed last night, it was accepted this morning, says it should be deposited by 11th (but to give 2 days for bank to register it). Wow, a week turn around. I'll believe it when I see it.

Though last year people were having the same problems with tax return dates changing. Mine was true to what it originally said though. Hope that it does the same this year, but since it's going to a trip in 2011 I'm not in the rush some of you are.

after trying all day on the online status, mine still says we cannot provide any information about your refund. when i call the 800 number, it went from being deposited on feb 9th yesterday, to now saying feb 16th today and still. My friends i filed for him wasnt showing online either earlier, but now his shows up and says feb 16th on it online. i dont understand what is going on???

i called again this morning and found out our issue: processing error on there part. This caused a delay of 2 weeks. So I was told no later than the 16th, which means (according to the lady), the deposit will be done on the 19th b/c they only make deposits on a Friday. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Our lovely gov't strikes again
She said there have been a lot of processing errors, on there part, this year for some reason.

What would happen if I would call the IRS and tell them I am having a problem processing my return on this end, will be submitted on April 29 at the latest, should have a check in the mail by May 2 because I only write checks on Friday... Think they will be ok with that???

I bet it comes on the 12th. I think it says the 16th because it goes in on the 12th and then clears by the 16th. This is how it was for me last year. I filed early and it was all wonky then too. So they had these errors last year too. Maybe time to change something???

Agree. The thing that bugs me the most about this is: they are pushing for you to file electronically- which i did- and they still mess it up

Its the same thing that happened last year. Either processing probs or delays because the IRS is backed up. We had a thread like this last year on the Budget Board and most everyone seemed to be delayed. We all got our refunds but most wasnt on time. Mine was 2 weeks late and a few got delayed 3 weeks if I recall. Its frustrating!!! I've already got the mindset that ours will be delayed when next week gets here.

Wow. Sorry to hear so many people are having trouble.

I filed on 01/27 (used H&R Block online) and had my money deposited on Tuesday 02/02 I wasn't even expecting it yet.

So sad, the irs site kept spitting out that I would get my refund by 2/9 meaning it would be sent to my bank tomorrow 2/5. I was all excited! But this morning I checked, as I do every morning, and it says not until 2/16. I hope it doesn't change to another later date the next time I check.

I had to request a trace on mine. My bank still doesn't have it and the wmr site is still saying it was deposited on 1/29. The irs told me it could be up to 6 weeks, this really sucks

I got mine today!! I filed 1/27 and 48 hour later checked the IRS site. It said my deposit would come 2/4 and sure enough it did! After reading here, I thought deposits only went in on Fridays, so I was expecting a change, but it's showing in my account now. I filed mine using FreeFillableForms.com which the IRS site referred me to.

So, DH called the IRS tonight to get an update and you won't believe what they are telling us now: now it doesn't have a date. It is still in processing. They told him to call back next week. This is unbelievable, they tell people to file electronically to speed up the process and yet this happens. It's not like we had a complicated return. Let's see what happens tomorrow. A foot note: the lady he spoke with was unbelievably rude. She kept saying:"you know we have 3 weeks to process it, so don't call back until that time frame is up". He about dropped the phone, but kept his cool.
