Fed up with flights being changed

Since it's Delta's fault they should put you on a equal flight even if they have to move you to one of their partners. I know that they are partners with American.
I just had a similar thing happen to me today with Alaska Air for my flights to Orlando in September. I called them and they moved me to better flights than what I had, the flights I am on now would have cost $$$ more.

Delta is NOT a partner of American. And generally they won't put you on another airline in this case.

Also, to the poster who is upset DL left a message at thier home, that's the number DL had. I always use my cell phone number when booking travel (now you see why) I don't even give them another number. ALL airlines are only going to make ONE call, the primary number.

(To all of you avoiding DL, NW, AirTran etc. what did you PAY??? We are getting what we are PAYING for and we are NOT paying enough for service! I read threads on here every day going "$200 round trip is TOO much" Well.... )

We flew Delta for our January trip. I had booked just prior to the pilots contract being signed and got a good fare. They did change the flights quite a bit. I didn't mind. I just kept checking online and calling to make needed adjustments and get seats reassigned. Delta was great about making changes to flights (like when we were supposed to land in Atlanta at 7:00PM, and depart at 6:30PM) with no charge.

Fast forward to now; we were looking for airfare for our October trip. We chose Delta again. They had the best fares. I don't mind that Delta makes changes as long as I can keep my eye on my flights and call to make adjustments as necessary.

::yes::
If her reason for needing an aisle seat is a disability, they can help you. Ask to speak to someone in "Special Needs" or who deals with disabilities.
And, also, there is a Department of Transportation Disability hotline phone number that you can also appeal to. Take the number along in case you need it.

I called this morning as my flight in September was changed overnight last night and my seats disappeared. Flight was only changed by 15 minutes but we had to have our seats all reassigned. No problem just had to talk to an agent as it cannot be done online.

Give Delta a call, they should be able to reassign those seats over the phone.

Yes, we've had flights changed with Delta and seats non-assigned. It was easiliy corrected with a phone call.

I discovered recently that if you just ignore the change eventually DL will just fix it. And I wound up with the same seats. I just didn't have time to worry about it and if my boyfriend and I wound up scattered around the plane we would have lived. LOL!

So far (crossing fingers), I have had great luck with American Airlines out of St. Louis to MCO. I have had one flight changed but it was by 20 minutes - no biggie. I have yet to see them totally inconvienence us so hopefully the streak will continue.

Well...

I think people are ONLY expecting common courtesy and decent customer service, no matter what they PAY. I certainly hope that people with attitudes like yours aren't in the service industry...but well...

Things like this could have been handled much better:
posted by DebbieBOur connecting fight seating was all messed up my husband, myself and both my children ages 4 and 6 were in different seats throughtout the plane. I noticed this at Orlando and tried to get it changed with the Orlando gate agent they said to talk with the Minneapolis gate agent. Well she had no simpathy was very rude and told me to talk to the flight attendent.

Don't take CarolA to seriously. She always posts like that. It is just her personality she is not trying to be rude she is just VERY blunt. I'm sure she talks that way IRL too. I kind of enjoy her posts now. She reminds me so much of my elderly italian neighbors. Full of **** and vinegar.

Some of us are here to post factual information. A direct posting style does not equate with rudeness.

Frankly, I would rather read factual posts such as the ones that many of the frequent flyers post, as opposed to the posts filled with misinformation (such as the one I quoted on page one)

I appreciate factual information and will try to learn to appreciate the direct posting style of others. It is difficult to discern tone in the printed word, so I should always give the benefit of the doubt! :)

Absolutely!

Yes, some airlines refuse to let you book early.

1. Since Delta made the call at 2, you had already left Disney so you could not enjoy the extra time at the parks anyway.

2. Your may already be close to the time (a 24 hour boundary) your rental car company would charge you extra for keeping the car longer.

3. If everyone else had checked in earlier and you had not, your chances of being bumped are increased.

I think you missed my main point - my complaint was that they called NEW YORK to let me know the flight had changed. My contact # was my cell phone number - they ignored it, and called NY to let me know my flight from FL was postponed that day. I actually called Delta on this and the manager told me I was correct - they did have my contact number as my cell phone and didn't use it - they apologized for their mistake.

On your point re: the rental car - I dropped it off early according to Dollar- I actually had a full day to use the car since we didn't rent it till after 7PM in the evening - the rate would not have been affected dropping it off later.

Lastly, our flight was overbooked by 15 people. They do not bump people off until they offer compensation/other flights to the passengers. The packages they were offering were amazing, but I had to be at work in the morning and could not take advantage of it ($600 pp travel vouchers, overnight at Hyatt hotel - yes the Hyatt -vouchers for dinner and breakfast and guaranteed first flight out at 9:30 am next day). They got rid of those 15 seats faster than I had ever seen - so being bumped wouldn't have been a problem.

Wow! I would have gone to work late for a deal like that!

Tell me about it!! It KILLED us that we couldn't take it. I think it was b/c it was the Monday after Easter that they overbooked so much. Unfortunately, I had a co-worker that was starting her vacation that Tuesday, so I had to be at work. UUUGGGHHHHH!!

I'm one of those "51 weeks ahead bookers" that Bavaria spoke about. We fly to Florida every year over Massachusetts February School Vacation. It's also President's Week. These flights NEVER get any cheaper than their initial, out of the gate price. I booked our outbound flights for $99 for the one way, which is a good deal at normal times of year, and a GREAT deal for when we like to fly.

I know, and fully expect my flight times, seat assignments, and quite possibly my flight numbers to change. I check my itinerary once every couple of weeks, and deal with any changes.

I've not yet booked our flight home yet, but probably will by the end of the summer. Those flights are usually much more expensive to get home, but since we stay for free (Snowbird parents!!!) I don't mind paying extra for the flights.

The defense of "all airlines do this" in defense of Delta doesn't hold water with me. All airlines don't do this.

SWA is truly the ONLY airline I know of that does not change flight times once their schedule is published. Even AirTran and JetBlue have had some time changes.

So, I just wanted to let you guys know that after an hour of talking to someone about our cancelled flight I was able to book us on the next flight out, even though the flight would of cost 800$$ more than the flight I first booked(they didn't charge us the difference). However, this flight is not in our best interest because it leaves 2 hours later and doesn't land till 11:00 PM. By the time we get on the ME and get to the resort it will be close to midnight plus the check in. Our girls are young 3&6 so hopefully they'll do O.K.
I was more upset with Delta that I was not called and informed of the change than the actual change. I wonder how many people never get contacted at all and show up for their flight. As long as I get to the house of mouse in one piece I guess that all that matters.

You never mentioned how long it was before your flight date. Delta won't bother notifying you until three weeks prior. After all, there might be yet-another change. Do not expect to be notified every time there is a change -- only expect to be notified a few weeks prior to your flight.
