Excuse me while I vent!!!

I have been working from home today while expecting a package delivery from FedEx. A very simple task you'd think. They have my address, they bring me the package.

About an hour ago I checked the FedEx website with my tracking number - it said it was DELIVERED at 11:43am to MY HOUSE. Ummm...nope - nothing here

So I call FedEx thinking it would be an easy thing to solve - wrong. All they do is tell me that their information states it is on my front porch. Welll...I'm here looking at my front porch and it is EMPTY, nothing there. Then they tell me that they will get in touch with their driver to call me back. This is where I get ticked off. I was told it would take about 48 hours for him to call me!

This is a man who is in a truck all day with a radio and cell phone driving the same streets I do around town everyday! It's going to take him 48 hours to call me to find a package that was to be delivered in 24 hours??!! What a crock

Ahhhhhh!!!! Ok, I've vented now. Anyone else ever encounter probelms with "vanishing" items from FedEx?

Maybe they delivered it to some else?
can you check and see the digital signature? I know some places you can see who signed for it online

And if all else when he shows up smack 'em:crazy: :p

Oh trust me - there will be some smackin going on ;)

I checked everyone in my building (live in a condo) and nope, nobody has even seen a FedEx truck. That includes the noisy neighbor who sees everybody ::yes::

The signature, well the shipper didn't require one so the signature just says "left at front door by driver" Geesh! How convenient for the driver

I've always had trouble with Fed Ex Ground.
Every single time something is shipped to me via Fed Ex Ground I can guarantee it won't show up on time.

I always get a post card that says the couldn't find my house and for me to call an 800 number with directions. The post card usually arrives about 4 days AFTER my package is scheduled to arrive. Then I call the number and give them my address.

Two days or so after I call with directions I get my package, but they just leave it on the front porch with no doorbell rung or anything.

I belonged to a scrapbook monthly club that shipped with Fed Ex Ground. I had to give that club up after 4 months of this delayed delivery due to Fed Ex Ground. Every month I was having to call that stupid 800 number and then having to wait an additional week to a week and a half for my item.

I never had a problem with UPS though.

I PM'd you, since basically getting FedEx and others like them to explain where they left packages that are lost is my occupation. (At least a signifigant part of it anyway).

Do you have the tracking number?

Don't post it here. It could contain info as to what you bought and your address. If you want to PM me, I'd be happy to try and find out what happened for you, but I totally understand if you'd rather not.

Here is the link
http://www.fedex.com/us/

You can track with the tracking number there.

You can also call 1.800.463.3339

They might not have a signature on file, however that have to have an exact address.

It is possible, that they put it back on the truck in error or that you have a bad tracking number. Bad tracking numbers happen a lot with them.

Does your condo complex have an office? Sometimes they will deliver to the office so whoever is working there can sign for the package.

Good luck!

disneysnowflake - Isn't it frustrating? Now that you mention it, I have never had a problem with UPS either and that is what I always use at work. ::yes::

EsmeraldaX - Thank you so much! I sent you a PM with the #. I did check online with the site, that's actually how I found out they were saying it was delivered. Then I called the 800#, hoping that they had misinformation on the site, and they told me it was on my front porch and the driver would get back to me in 48 hours. THAT is the job I want - a 48 hour turnaround to clients/customers when I screw up!

Nope no office. But I do live next to the biggest busy body in the complex :teeth:

I just responded. :( They would not tell me anything detailed but made it sound like they had the exact address it was delivered at but wouldn't give it to me because I'm not the shipper or reciever.

I would call back, ask for a manager and see what the manager says. The c/s people they have there are not really the sharpest tools in the shed.

It should not take them 48 hours to call in to one of their stations or to radio a driver.

:( I'm sorry I couldn't get more. I deal with carriers all day long and Fed Ex is among the worst. We would not use them at all except that a few of our customers have chosen to use them so we do, but when it's us picking the shipper, we always go with a different one. :(

Ironically, I just got handed a project at work.

It is for a Fed Ex Freight (their LTL carrier) shipment that seems to have gone awry.

So I called them, since I'm technically the shipper. And they told me that they no longer have this info for this shipment on file.

It's from July. (Customers tend to wait several months before making claims with us and I know Fed Ex is well aware of this).

Don't you think they should at least keep things on file longer than 4 months!?

UPS is no better.

The shipper hadn't updated their address in 6 months. It was addressed to my house, but it was for the previous resident.

I called the company that sent it, it's "irreplacable" and they need it back.

So, I called UPS and they said they would come back out the next day and get it.

It's been a week, no one's come by or called.

Finders keepers??!! (It's a gift card!) DD 3 1/2 opened it before I realized it wasn't for us!

I am getting ready to call again and raise you know what!

I just called the local number for our FedEx office thinking that would be a better route since afterall they DO see the drivers right? Well...how nice for them. They have changed their phone number to the 800# of the head office! AHHHH!!!

So, I'm now calling them AGAIN and this time not being as nice or understanding.

As for not keeping records after 4 months. Why am I not shocked  So far the records they DO have for me are incorrect. Maybe the package is magic and can only be seen on front porches by FedEx employees in dark blue uniforms because I sure don't see it!

Thank you again for your efforts that was so sweet of you to offer to help me out. ::yes::

I will let you know what happens after my next phone call.

Definately be stern with them.

I've found that you really have to be.

Also, you probably know this, but you can bypass their stupid talking to a machine thing by pressing 0 as soon as the voice picks up.

Let us know how it works out.

The biggest difference between UPS & Fed Ex is that UPS keeps info online for up to a year and makes it relatively easy to get signature proofs of delivery.

You are not responsible for the item that was misshipped to you and whatever you do, don't pay to send it back. UPS can either mail you or bring you a return label and all you should have to do is have the UPS guy pick it up.

Again, I've found you often have to call multiple times before you get a person who knows what they are doing.

I've called every carrier under the sun and it is astounding how some of the people I talk to who work in these places do not even understand basic shipping terminology.

Just got off the phone with "Tommy" the manager.

I told him that the time period of 48 hours to have a driver call me was not acceptable since the package itself was shipped in less time than that. He tried to contact the driver while I was on the phone, who apparently is one WITHOUT a cell phone  Go figure! He said he would call me back shortly - today! I am heading out to pick up my DD4 right now, so I'm betting he will call then.

If one more person from FedEx ask me if I have looked at all of the other condos to see if it was left somewhere else I'm going to loose it! (there are over 100 units in my complex) Someplace else? Yes, I have looked, but exactly what confidence do you have in your drivers if your first thought is that they left it at the WRONG HOUSE?

I feel for those of you who deal with this sort of this for a living. I wouldn't make it a day without choking somebody ;)

I actually was handed this job in addition to what I was hired for because the girl who did this here before me could not handle it anymore because it was so frustrating.

I love when I call shippers and say "Hi, I'd like to request a copy of a proof of delivery?"

And they respond with "I don't think we have that"

So I'll say "A Delivery reciept?"

And they just say..."noooo I don't think we have those"

AGHHHHHHH

They must also not realize today is Friday, so you will not receive your phone call in 48 hrs because they don't run on Sat & Sun!

Whether or not he has a cell phone, they can still contact him in some way. I know that they can send messages to drivers on their little scan boards (although I don't know if all driver's have those) ~ but they have to have some kind of dispatch communications.

Good luck! I hope you get your package today. If you don't, you should be able to file a claim with the shipper for a refund on the shipping charge from FedEx!! (I know UPS you can, so I'm sure FedEx is the same!!)

Actually, FedEx does run on Saturday, just not on Monday if I am not mistaken.

My biggest problem with FedEx was right after we moved here. Someone sent us some oackages and the driver said he could not find our unit. He found our building but could not figure out wich unit was 1-A. (We are unit A, the phnoe company calls us 1-A for some strange reason) Wouldn't it make sense to knock on our door and see if we could help?

I was in charge of sending out all airline tickets to our customers. (was a corprate agency) If there were any problems I had to call UPS and "find" the package. It got to a point that I knew who to call directly because some of the other people were clueless.

Tommy (the manager I spoke to) called me back about 7:30 this evening and told me he had spoken to the driver and that he had left the package at condo #8-6.

REALLY BRIGHT! My condo is #6-8. Ironically JUST as it is printed on the box that he delivered incorrectly! That's right. I went to pick it up a few minutes ago from the building 2 away from mine and sure enough - it is printed (computer generated - NOT handwritten) Condo #6-8 - my DD4 even knew what numbers they were when I showed them to her.

I cannot believe I spent the better part of the day arguing with FedEx and with them telling me it was delivered to 6-8 - my house! Thanks goodness I was able to find out where it really was, as the condo they delivered it to is VACANT:eek:

Thanks for all of the advise and letting me vent. UPS has my business for a lonnnngg time to come that is for sure::yes::
