I received an email from Fed ex stating that a package was being delivered on Monday that requires a signature and is from DVC. We haven't asked for anything special, added on or watched a video online. Dying to know and thinking maybe East Coast DVC members have already received the package before all of us on the West Coast. So....what is it?

Check your account online and make sure that your dues are posted paid. Another owner posted that DVC sent him a letter because they made a mistake and showed him as a late payer.

Or it could be something else, let us know when you find out.

Good luck.

See my post higher up. It's about re-signing your docs because someone probably (if yours is the same as mine) checked to record you and your spouse as two individuals versus married with rights of survivorship. All of the instructions are enclosed and there is no hurry. But you are required to sign for the package(s) - one per deed. Sorry, you probably didn't win the sweepstakes!

Our FedEx driver said he had LOTS of these to deliver!

I got the fed ex title recording mail that talks about recording in joint tentent vs individual joint owners. It looks like a new contract.
I bought mine for aulani, but I bought mine during the intro period so I'm getting the subsided rate vs the standard dues rate. If I do this title change will I lose my subsided rate? Really strange why disney would automatically send a prepaid fedex envelope and offer to pay my notary public fees, just out of the blue without there being a benefit for them

Received the same thing. You have a good point about the dues. We also purchased Aulani when they first started selling the points. We have had to sign updated paperwork on this particular resort before. We are headed down this summer so I might wait and sign in person.

The benefit is that they may have made a mistake and they want to fix it before they end up in court or they may have already been sued.

How do they know who to send the corrected contracts to? Did the owners request a joint ownership and Disney mistakenly issued incorrect contracts?

I'd just be grateful for one less hassle, should my spouse pass away.

Our other contracts are in joint ownership and apparently this one is not. I was wondering why we were receiving 2 Disney Files Magazines ;)

So you bought 3 Aulani contracts and Disney recorded 2 as joint owners and 1 as individual owners, correct?

:earsboy: Bill

Only 1 Aulani contract.

3 other contracts between OKW and SSR

Aha! Thanks everyone.....you are right! Our Aulani deed has us as two individual owners. It seems that when Aulani was sold, many, many mistakes were made; from the dues to this.

Mystery solved!

I also just received this FedEx package. Not trying to give advice to anyone else, but my inclination is to leave our recorded ownership interests as is. If you bought during the intro period and your dues are subsidized, I seriously doubt you can count on a DVC guide or anyone in the DVC regulatory affairs department to assure you that you will be able to maintain your subsidized dues status since the corrected deed will be subject to the amended CC&Rs.

I don't own enough of a stake in Aulani to engage a Hawaiian attorney to clarify the issue. Absent written confirmation from DVC regarding the dues issue, I'm not trusting what anyone from a timeshare company (even Disney) tells me verbally on this issue. Just my 2 cents pixiedust:

Hmmm...this has us thinking for sure. Perhaps this is a way for them to get out of the subsidized dues.

Then why wouldn't they get out of the subsidized status when a resale is sold?

We just got a call from DVC stating that the documents they sent have been changed and that we are to disregard the contents in the previous envelope. Perhaps the issue of subsidized dues may have caused an issue??? Anyone else get this call?

From prior posts it appears that anyone who received the original mailing got the call.

I would call Disney and ask what the heck is going on. :confused3

I would DEFINITELY read both deeds very carefully and compare the original to the copy to make sure the status of the individual was the only difference, and I'd even recommend consulting an attorney if you can before signing. Also, not sure how the subsidized dues are legally recorded but check out whatever documentation that supports that and make sure it isn't contingent on recording date or something.

All that said, I am not a licensed Hawaiian attorney and I am not giving legal advice here, just advising people to seek it.

Seriously? I never got a call. Glad we never signed it. What a mess.

Color me not impressed with their organization skills on this matter :sad2:
