February- President's Week

Just wanted to add that my oldest is in 7th grade, so haven't quite got to that level yet, but 2 days is all I feel comfortable with (actually I'm really only comfortable with one but the airline forced my hand). Last year she had mono and we spent all spring trying to catch up. It was a real struggle.

Just wanted to add... my post wasn't meant to be judgmental. We pulled once or twice when the kids were younger. It was meant as more of a "those were the days" kind of thing, lol.

Thanks, didn't take it that way. All kids and schools are different. I always tell my friends with young kids to take them out and enjoy the low crowds (and prices) while you can because at some point the party's over!

I am bummed that we can't go as a family in the off times. I personally feel that sports has taken over - but it keeps them busy doesn't it. 2007 I took my then 2nd grader for free dining in Sept. before we were DVC members. We may do that again d/t having Developer Points left over - we'll see.

We are going to AK/HS Tues
MK/then over to Fantasmic since they don't have it on Wednesday
Blizzard Beach on Thurs if its nice then to HDDR
Friday Epcot
DisneyQuest/DTD on Sat then Jiko for Dinner
and then sadly come home on Sunday.
I usually go to MK the first real day but I was listening to tourguidemike.

Any input?

Lisa, when I read your posts I always feel we live parallel lives. Now I find out your oldest is a 7th grade DD. Here too! Too funny. Is your lawn covered is ice and snow also

We used to go to BCV for Presidents week (the kids only missed 3 days). All of the sudden, this year we're wondering if we can take her out at all. We're thinking of changing our trip and coming back on Wednesday so she only misses one day.

Is it that 7th is so much more intense? Or is it that 13 is so much more intense?? I can't tell.

Hey Jennypenny! We have one extra thick blanket of snow covering us (got ~12") Yesterday was a real bear getting around. Luckily I didn't have to go into work, but did suck it up and drive my DD12 and friend to horse riding. It was very slow going.

How is your packing going? We've tried on some summer shorts, etc. It doesn't look like we need to buy anything.

Gosh, what IS everyone packing this year? It's been pretty cold down there. I usually just pack *everything* but with baggage fees so high I don't want to over pack.

Maybe I'll just let everyone wear 10 layers of clothes down on the plane

Gosh, what IS everyone packing this year? It's been pretty cold down there. I usually just pack *everything* but with baggage fees so high I don't want to over pack.

Maybe I'll just let everyone wear 10 layers of clothes down on the plane

I know, I am hoping for a warming trend. I was hoping you guys could help me with packing for Feb - since we've never been before. I was thinking sweat pants for the boys and capri's for me? with a few fleeces. I was just watching ESPN (I am the only girl in the house ) and they are in Tampa and people have on windbreakers and long pants - boo hoo. I wanted to wear shorts. So much for Blizzard Beach?

I keep saying anything's better than this snow- but tanning weather would be good.

A friend at work, who did not listen to me about ADRs I might add, just told me last night that she didn't get the ADRs she wanted they were all booked. I think it might be really busy - yikes!!! I wish they would extend hours, my boys are older now so they can stay up later.

Can't wait! 17 days and COUNTING.

The older kids, dd and her bff both 16, were really hoping for MK late hours, I think Epcot has one 11:00 night, but MK, nothing past 9 or maybe 10. One year we were down and MK was open till 3:00 or 4:00am, it was amazing! But I think that was Christmas week not Presdients! But with the amount of people, they should consider one night during Presidents week to be open real late!!!!!

This time of year things change quickly down there. True, they're chilly today but in two days it could be back up in the 80's -- real rollercoaster. But then again, think about the weather in New England. If it goes from 40 to 10 here.....it's going 80 to 60 there.....and then turning around again!

We are due heavy snow today into tomorrow and maybe Tuesday, hope we get to the airport alright on Thursday as any amount of snow causes chaos here !

When will you be there? There are extra magic hours at the MK on Sunday the 16th from 10:00pm to 1:00am

Clare - Good luck on THursday. The same thing happens here on the east coast - If DC which we have to fly into - there aren't as many direct flights anymore- has a snow storm we could get stuck there. Hoping for sunshine everywhere!!!!
