February/March 2009 Crowds

We are currently booked on another DCL cruise out of Port Canaveral next February, but, after much discussion, we have decided that we can't really afford it.

Instead, we're thinking of taking a non-Disney cruise out of LA and visiting DL for a couple of days to get our Disney fix. I have been to the land a zillion times, but never at this time of year. Is there a way to predict crowds (like WDW has a crowd calendar on the UG site)? The cruise we're eyeing leaves February 22nd and returns the 29th, so we could either go before or after.

crowds shouldn't be big, kids are back in school.
have you looked into a carnival cruise out of LA (Long beach) they have one that goes to Catalina and Ensenada Mexico.

I would pick the week after the cruise to do DLR. The week of Feb 16 is President's Day week, and many schools are now giving the entire week off and the parks have extended hours to deal with the crowds.

The first week of March you may encounter Cheer conventions, but so far the Anaheim Convention calendar doesn't show any scheduled during that time.

Oh, and I would stay far away from CCL and Ensenada, Mexico as you can. Yuck!

Thanks for the help! Carnival always sparks a heated argument, I've noticed. We are planning on doing Royal Caribbean if possible. Carnival is super cheap, but we fear that may draw some loud and rowdy people...we'd rather go with medium cheap and hope for an older crowd.

I can't believe kids get a whole week off for President's Day! That will certainly affect our plans.

My dh and I did a 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise with RCCL. It was wonderful, and a great balance of people old and young. We got the best deal booking through skyauction. Have a great time planning!
