February 8th 2014 Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise Meet

Hi there. We have a group of 10, 4 staterooms booked for this cruise. Would love to chat and meet with others. I will send a request through your FB page. Sarah Blackwood.

Welcome Sarah and Stacy and your families :grouphug:

Great to meet both of you.
I am Kathy and DH is Greg, no kids or grandkids this cruise.

I'm sure OP of our thread will see your FB requests soon and get you both added. Since it's a holiday weekend she may be busy today.

Once you're on FB be sure and sign up for the FE if you want . Even if you're not interested in that click on the link for the list anyway and look at the bottom of the page for other fun events we are doing this cruise. Will be on sea days.

Please add your name or names of people in your group for any of these fun events too. Excluding the Mixology and ladies only meet, everything else is for ALL ages! Mixology is for 21
And ladies only should be at least teens so you're not having to jump up and chase kids. Its just a time to have a drink ( you don't have to have alcohol) and chat with other ladies about anything women chat about:lmao:
Teens can hang together and do their own thing if they wish to come.

Anyway, be sure and check out those events too.

I am out of here for 4 days of cruising but will be back to chat on Friday.

Kathy

So I have to admit, I was totally bummed to have to switch Dis groups when we moved our cruise date up. But.... I'm totally loving this group!

Good morning everyone,

swimfly. I got you beat. We are only 10 miles from WDW.;)
We go there almost every weekend. Next time you go let me know and maybe we can have a mini meet there.:thumbsup2

Absolutely! We're there all the time. We're headed there 6/19-23 @ BC and 7/4 @ GF. The main office for work is in Orlando as well so I sneak over to WDW for breakfast/dinner if I have an overnight.

I think I have my hubby interested in running the 5K this time around. :) I need to get off by booty and start running again. We are a tad competitive with each other and I "pretend" to be a sore loser! ;)
Last time the funniest thing was when I was wearing the "winner" medal. I was in the elevator going to meet hubby and girls. A lady was so thrilled that

Yeah! You will have a blast! My hubs and I were competitive for awhile when I first started running. Now, he just accepts I can kick his tush. I love the WINNER medal.

I see in your tickers that you are doing the Dopey! That is so exciting! I had a patient in last week that was kind enough to bring in his Mickey, Donald, and Goofy medals for me to see. I was very envious and would definitely like to do a runDisney race in the future.

I always tell people the runDisney races aren't a race but rather an event! You won't regret it. However, I must warn you there's an addictive quality to the Disney medals. I ran my first Disney HM in 2004 and can't stay away. I love the Goofy medal! Ran the Goofy in 2010 and 2011. I'm a little nervous about the Dopey b/c my first post-baby marathon isn't until November. Sure hope I am ready for it!

On a side note, I have been looking up things to do in St. Martin and I have to say I am so excited to be going to Maho Beach (airport beach)!! Has anyone been?

I love St. Martin! I think we're going to Frier's Bay this trip. We did a Tiki Beach Hut/Snorkel on our last trip to St. Martin and loved it. We need to find a fun, family place with DD this trip.

This will be our first cruise - DCL or otherwise - and it'll be our honeymoon! :flower3:

Welcome & Congratulations!

Hi. My name is Stacey/Disneypal1. I hope I'm doing this right

We will be going we loved it last year on the Magic on the cupids trip.
We just got back from a 7 day Eastern on THe Fantasy and going on the DVC Member Cruise on the Dream in Sept. and again next Oct. for my wife's Birthday so yes we cruise all the time and love it. It is my wife Rachel and my 1 year old son Devon.

Welcome! You should be able to access the FB group and on there is the link for our spreadsheet.

Won't be long until we're on the :beach:

Super excited to be signing up for the list!

This will be our first cruise - DCL or otherwise - and it'll be our honeymoon! :flower3: I've been reading SO many threads and am planning on doing quite a few magnets for our door, thanks to the amazing graphic threads on here!

I'd also love to sign up for the FB group if possible :)

WELCOME to all our new friends :goodvibes

Just got back from a 4 day cruise this morning. Now I can start really concentrating on this cruise.

But first I need to unpack and do laundry and all that fun stuff after a cruise that has to be done. :lmao:

Welcome back! What did you think of RCCL??

Thanks, good to be back.

It was a Great cruise and worth every cent it cost!! Its not Disney cruise but its not suppose to be.
Disney is my favorite and always will be, but I try not to compare the 2 because they are meant to be totally different experince, that said here is my basic opinions of the my cruise.

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas.
Older ship built in 1997 I believe but in great shape on the inside. Outside is plain looking, inside is beautiful.

Embarkation and Debarkation went easy and fast. We did the carry off our own luggage.

Food, very good.
Buffet was large and a wide variety of foods, Crew constantly coming by to get you more drinks napkins, clear your plates, chat about how you like your cruise so far.

Crew,
Extremely friendly, even a bit more friendly than Disney which is hard to believe and they all were very dedicated to making sure you had every thing you needed.
Cleanliness:
It was spotless. They were constantly cleaning.

we had a ocean view room on deck 3 forward.
Plenty of room for 2 adults. The head of the bed was against the window which I didn't like because I like to look out the window which is hard to do unless you climb up on the bed. Bed was comfortable, bathroom had 3 shelves and 2 small drawers. Closet had an upper and lower rod for hanging clothes and 3 drawers for clothes. The desk area and 3 small and 3 large drawers and an upper cupboard with the room safe and another shelf for storage. Both sides of the mirror had tall mirrored doors that opened with small shelves behind for storage.

Only thing I didn't like is they had remodeled the bathroom recently and put in a vessel sink. The faucet wasn't correct for that kind of sink, it barely stuck out over the sink so it was hard to get your hands under it to wash them. So it looked nice but wasn't practical with the faucet the way it was. The new larger toilet was very high. I had to stretch a bit for my feet to touch the floor is I was sitting back properly on it. Not sure how a kid could use it? The seat was very narrow and uncomfortable.
But those are minor things in the grand scope of the entire cruise.

Entertainment:
Extremely talented bands and stage show performers. Broadway style shows in the theater each evening. Live orchestra playing for every show. Also a Magician and Comedian. Great shows. The 4 main singers were just unbelievable the range of their voices.

The Solarium was great!! Adult area with a pool, 2 hot tubs a bar and place to eat. We went there multiple times for a nice adult experience, so quiet and the décor was amazing and so many live plants in there. Roof opens up too.

I didn't play in the Casino but did walk through it a few times. It wasn't busy during the day but evenings it was busy.

I always thought Disney had so much to do in a day but this ship had 5 times more than Disney each day to do.
Plus they had live Caribbean music by the pool and atrium on and off all day like Disney use to do which is so nice. It really keeps the mood geared towards a tropical cruise. I loved that.

The Clubs were beautiful and very large. This ship had an abundance of floor to ceiling windows around the ship and club areas which was really nice for viewing the Ocean.

Activities are different than some of Disney's others were the same just named differently.

The Captain was a real character. He actually took part in a few of the entertainment for people on the ship. He was so funny!!

Coco Cay was their private island.

You must tender in, maybe 5 minutes and boats are huge. The island is beautiful. You can walk for a very long ways from one beach to the next. There are so many hammocks and hairs you can go at 3 in the afternoon and still find a great hammock or chair. They have a straw market form local vendors which is fun to go through.
Lots of water toys and a water slide too but you must pay extra for them.
BBQ like Disney for lunch. There are several small areas with picnic tables instead of one large one like Disney has.

Water was shallow for along ways out but seemed like a lot of sea weed in a few areas to step on in the water but also tropical fish can often be seen swimming around your feet which is cool.

We got off early to see the island and went back around noon because we could see the rain coming. People sleep in on this ship and most were just getting off as we get back on.

So over all it was a beautiful ship with tons to do, a great crew, good food, and well the price. But like most lines other than Disney you can be nickel and dimed to death if you don't watch it. You need a soda card for pop because it costs, everything on their island for water toys you must pay for. Disney doe shave some free stuff like the slides and water activities, kids clubs do charge after 10 P.M. and a if you use their pool towels you must check them out on your key card and return them. If you don't return them you will be charged $25 per towel. So you must be careful about watching your towel.

Will we do this again? Yes
Is it our favorite cruise: No
Was it worth the price: Yes

If you have any specific questions please ask.

Love your review. We enjoy RCCL as well but will be cruising Disney until DD is older. So glad you had a wonderful time.

So glad you had a wonderful time. I like RCCL as well. The problem for me now is that I have been introduced to Disney! ;) my girls are 6 and 2, so we will get to enjoy the Mickey boat for a while. :)

Disney is much better for kids.
I chatted with some kids on board and they were having fun but didn't seem very excited about it. On DCL when I ask a kid if they are having a good time I get lots of great stories of all the fun they are having and big smiles.

I am not a kid, at least by age I am not. :lmao: mentally I fit right in with the kids LOL!! But I still love all my Disney cruises and the Magic atmosphere they have.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.
What are you guys thinking about the FE? I am starting to stress out about the quantity of rooms! I can only imagine that as it gets closer more rooms and people will be added. Have we considered a number that it will split if it splits at all? For a first timer who is not at all crafty it can get very overwhelming!

Happy Monday everyone, :flower3:
I hope your week is off to a great start.:thumbsup2

It's hot and humid here in Florida today which is typical summer weather for here.

Had a nasty thunderstorm last night.

I have been watching lots of shows about WDW this morning. I have seen them many times but I still enjoy seeing them,

Have a great day everyone,

Kathy

Anyone have any input?

I am not in charge of the FE for this cruise but on all but 2 of my Disney cruises we always split the list so people didn't have more than 20 cabins, sometimes less. I havn't heard just how it will be handled here yet but I have read a couple other peoples posts who were wondering the same thing.

Hopefully that decision will be made soon and announced for everyone so we will know how it will work for this cruise.

Don't stress or worry about it. I know its tricky the first time, not having specifics but we have several months to go. If you want to start FE gifts, just do for 15 for now then by the time we have an official count you won't have much to do or you may already have enough ready to go.
That's what I do.
