February 8th 2014 Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise Meet

We needed a cruise fix while waiting for this cruise so we decided to do a 4 day cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas on the 27th of this month.

Never been on a Royal Caribbean ship before?

Got such a smoking deal we just couldn't pass it up.

It's way too quiet around here lately. :confused3

I hope some of you will have time this weekend to post a hello.

Our cruise is quickly approaching.

Kathy

Good evening everyone,

I thought I would tell you guys that if your thinking about buying a Powerball ticket for tomorrow night's drawing, Save your money. I just bought the winning ticket. :lmao:
I spent $2.00 on it so I had better win.:rolleyes1

It's been a long time since I've checked in on our DisBoards cruise meet thread. We've had a rainy weekend here in Mpls but had plenty of warm weather with it.

I'm busy getting ready for our son's grad party in a few weeks. For the cost of the party, pictures and everything else that goes with it we could go on a cruise! :rotfl2:

Have a great week everyone!

Nice to have you drop by.
Congrats to your son for graduating :goodvibes

I'm sure his Grad party will be worth every penny!!
After all the excitement dies down I hope you will drop by more often:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone!!!

Looks like a great day here in Florida after nasty thunderstorms last night.

Have a great day, I am off to get groceries.

Kathy

Hi everyone!:wave2:

I just sent the girls off for their last day of school! They are so excited that the weather is cooperating today and that they will be able to have their field day and play at the park.

I ran a half marathon this past weekend and I don't know what came over me, but I just signed up for my first full marathon!:scared1: It is the TCM Marathon in Minneapolis/St. Paul and it is October 6. Please wish me luck on this endeavor!

Only 261 days until the cruise! It is on my mind at some point every day. Anyone else?

Heidi

HI Heidi,

I was wondering what happened to you. I was afraid you might of had an injury since you didn't post about your half marathon.:confused3

I was curious how you did? Was it fun for you? I hope you enjoyed it.

I think of this cruise all the time, especially after next Friday. Because next Monday through Friday is my last cruise before this one. Once it's done I will really be concentrating on this one.:thumbsup2

I do have a few FE gifts for the younger kids and I have a good idea for the tween and teen girls and boys. I pick up a few things here and there. Sometimes the adult gifts are home made. Mostly it depends on how much free time I have.

Kathy

Well, I made every effort to read through the entire thread tonight! I made it to page 11. This is a chatty group and I cannot wait to cruise with you. Can't believe how long ya'll have been chatting about this cruise. Thought I was a planner.

We went on our first Disney cruise this past April on the Dream. I dug in my heals and refused to leave the ship until hubby booked another cruise. Just teasing! It was our first Disney cruise and we had such a blast. Disney just makes everything easy. My happy child was over-the-moon the entire trip. We participated in the FE and it was so much fun. We loved the treasures each day. Even though this is our second Disney cruise, I'm a huge Disney fan. We live 90 minutes (if hubby drives) from WDW and visit regularly.

We originally booked for 5/3 but my cousin announced her wedding date (5/10) this week so we moved up our cruise a few months. DH (34), DD (2 yo), and I (?) will be cruising with my parents. We'd love to participate in the FE again.

Quick Question: B/c we had to switch our cruise dates early seating is no longer available. We're on a "wait list." How like is it we will be able to switch? I'm use to cruising RCI where the late seating is more desirable than early.

Going on the cruise will be Myself (Lisa), DH, (kids ages at cruise time) DD8, DD4, & DD16months. We are very excited!

Yeah! Our daughter will be 25 mths on the cruise! Hoping she'll have a buddy to play with in Nemo's Reef (is it called the same thing on the Fantasy?)

I'm not a crafty person so I'll have to find somewhere to buy an extender....I've heard esty is good. Is someone on here already compiling a list of those who are participating? I've seen a lot of magnets as gifts.....any other good ideas that anyone wants to share?

StichesNBows on Etsy created our FE. I'm not crafty either.

On this cruise it will be (ages at time of sailing) Me: Vicki 43, DH Marty 46, DD Adriane 15, DS Zach 11, DD Stephanie 9, DS Isaac 6, DS Vincent 3, DS Elias almost 18 months.

Yippee! Our DD, Kennedy, will be 25 mths on the cruise.

Anyone thinking about running the castaway cay 5k? I definitely hope to.

Yes. Do it! So much fun! It was the hottest 5k I have ever run but I just loved it.

I find it interesting that you happened to ask this question today, because I was wondering the same thing just this morning. I just started training yesterday for a half marathon in May and I really hope to keep up with running after it is done. I am really interested in the idea of running the 5K at Castaway Cay, so maybe it will be the motivation that I need to keep running.

Way to go! You're going to get bit by the running bug!

Hello!
My family just got off the Dream and we are looking to book this cruise. I would love to be added to the FE. I completed the Castaway Cay 5K on the Dream. It was my first 5K and would recommend it to all.

:cloud9:

Completely agree! The 5k was one of the highlights of my trip.

For those of you that have done the 5K, can you walk it? There is no way i could run it but I could try to walk it ;) Wondering if that is allowed?

Absolutely! There were walkers in the 5k but they also have a powerwalk that began right after the 5k on our cruise.

Just got off the Fantasy on Sat (Feb 9th)... :cool1: Had SO much fun that I just had to book again for Feb 8th 2014. I will be sailing along with my three daughters who will be 20, 17, and 15 at the time of sailing.

Also traveling with my brother, his wife and daughter who will also be 15.

What was the weather like in February? We've never cruise in February so I'm a little worried about the weather. I'm a Floridian now.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/577254718969284/

here is the link for the 2nd facebook page

I'm confused by the 2 FB pages but joined both.

I have a question about the FE exchage group. Does it ever get split into 2 groups if the group gets too large? I am already planning and stocking up on some gifts (Valentine's cruise so hitting the clearance!!) and was just trying to estimate how much to buy? I know there is no way of knowing how many staterooms to plan for this early, just curious!! This darn snow in Florida makes me wish it was already next year, cruise time!!!

I'm a little concerned about this as well. My FE group had 35 and it was a little overwhelming. It was closed out 2 weeks before but the last week before it closed out 11 families joined. I was scrambling.

Better not be snow in Florida :rotfl2:

It has snowed in Florida in recent years! During the WDW Marathon in 2010, it snowed at the start. The water stops were iced over. It was absolutely miserable weather. If I hadn't earned the Goofy medal, I would've been bah-humbugging the entire experience.

2014!!! :goodvibes
My son and I have not ever been to either Disneyland or Disneyworld! We are planning to do Seaworld the day before the cruise.
From what I've heard, if you only have one day, it's not worth going to WDW because there is too much to do and it's overwhelming. Anyone have an opinion on that????

It all depends on what you want to get out of it. Another poster gave you great advice. I personally would stay at Disney if I was on property. There's a ton of stuff to do without hitting a park (Boardwalk - bike rides, miniature golf, boating; Downtown Disney - shopping, restaurants, shows, bowling)

I ran a half marathon this past weekend and I don't know what came over me, but I just signed up for my first full marathon!:scared1: It is the TCM Marathon in Minneapolis/St. Paul and it is October 6. Please wish me luck on this endeavor!

Congratulations on your 1/2 marathon finish and registering for a full! I see a runDisney event in your future!

Good morning everyone,

swimfly. I got you beat. We are only 10 miles from WDW.;)
We go there almost every weekend. Next time you go let me know and maybe we can have a mini meet there.:thumbsup2

My son returns from a RC cruise this morning. I can't wait to chat with him since we are going on Monday on the same ship.

Have a great 3 day weekend!!

Kathy

Welcome Swimfly!

I think I have my hubby interested in running the 5K this time around. :) I need to get off by booty and start running again. We are a tad competitive with each other and I "pretend" to be a sore loser! ;)
Last time the funniest thing was when I was wearing the "winner" medal. I was in the elevator going to meet hubby and girls. A lady was so thrilled that I ran AND WON the 5K! When I caught on, I couldn't help giggling and said something along the lines of, "Girl! They gave me a medal just for finishing!" We both laughed and everyone else on the elevator busted out laughing too!
I don't run. Not even to the mailbox! ;)

Hi Kathy!

The half marathon was this past Saturday and it was a lot of fun. Our spring and winter here were very cold, so that was what I was used to during training. The day of the race it ended up being very hot and humid. It really took a toll on a lot of people because none of us had trained in those conditions. I ended up missing my PR by six minutes, but that just gives me an excuse to keep on pushing!

How exciting that you have a cruise right around the corner! I am looking forward to hearing all about it.

I have started making my FE gifts. I am making them for each individual and have about 50 done. It will be interesting to see how many people we end having in the group.

Welcome! How lucky for you that you are only 90 minutes from WDW. I would never get anything done knowing that it is so close.

I see in your tickers that you are doing the Dopey! That is so exciting! I had a patient in last week that was kind enough to bring in his Mickey, Donald, and Goofy medals for me to see. I was very envious and would definitely like to do a runDisney race in the future.

That is funny! When I went to get my haircut last week I was telling the stylist that I was running a half marathon the next day. She wanted to know if is I was going to win!:rotfl2: I told her I would consider myself a winner by crossing the finish line, because that would be the only way I would ever win.

I am happy to hear you had fun with it. That's what's important.

Going to relax a bit today, then tomorrow I must get packed for Mondays 4 day cruise.

Enjoy the weekend everyone,

Kathy

Thanks, I am planning on it.
I am about to fill the truck with gas for the ride to the port, then a few groceries for my adult son to eat while we are gone. He is dog sitting for us.

Then I will pack the suitcase :goodvibes

Kathy

Have a fantastic time! I am jealous!

On a side note, I have been looking up things to do in St. Martin and I have to say I am so excited to be going to Maho Beach (airport beach)!! Has anyone been?

Super excited to be signing up for the list!

This will be our first cruise - DCL or otherwise - and it'll be our honeymoon! :flower3: I've been reading SO many threads and am planning on doing quite a few magnets for our door, thanks to the amazing graphic threads on here!

I'd also love to sign up for the FB group if possible :)

You can PM Cheerio and tell her you want to do the FE. Or the list on our FB page as well as at the bottom of the FE list are other fun things you can sign up for like a ladies only meet or a scrapbooking meet and much more. Just add your name on the list for anything you might ant to do.

You can find the link to join the FB page on page one, post one where you can request to join it so you can see the lists I am talking about.

Congrats on the marriage:love:
