We will probably put some kind of "clue" in the suitcases. We surprised them with a trip to disney in 2009 it was awesome! They did not know until the pilot asked if we were ready to see Mickey!

That sounds like a great surprise. We surprised 2 of the grandkids once. They didn't know until we were getting out at the port. They thought we were going to Cocoa beach for a few days so they didn't think anything about us heading that direction. ( we live an hour from the port)
Great thing was when they figured it out we told them it was a 3 day cruise. It took them a day to figure out it was really a 7 day cruise. So we tricked them twice.

Have fun with the surprise, let us know how it goes at Christmas.

I know I thought the name would be posted by now. She is probably just had a busy few days and hasn't got around to announcing it yet.
Which place is better to work, the Army base or private sector?

When my husband was in the Army I talked with ladies who had babies on base and they hated it because they had to get up and make their beds, strip them down for clean sheets etc...
They just wanted to rest up but back then (in the 70's) they didn't let them.

We (or to be more correct DDMorgan) can start planning, creating and purchasing!!

Now, my next question is....what about the design for the t shirts? I am soooo not creative, but sure am great at purchasing. Does anyone have any ideas about a t shirt design? My own personal thought is it should have a Valentine theme to it, but that is where my input and creativity ends...sorry!

Kathy, I have to say we have come a looooonnnnngggg way in the military world and laboring/newly delivered military moms do absolutely nothing for themselves and are pampered just as much as the private world (at least at Ft. Carson). I like the military world better for several reasons, but also love the private hospital I work at. I just "fit" better in the military atmosphere. My husband was also in the army for years and I've learned a lot about military life, even as a civilian.

It's 19 degrees and we have 59mph winds here in Colorado yesterday and today I'm trying to stay grounded. It has blown our yard apart and I am soooooo ready for spring!!!!

Hi Brady,

we often book on board for the room credits and percentage off, usually 10% off and low down payments. Worked great for us. We usually do it the first night when the booking desk opens up. Don't leave it until the last night of the cruise or it will be a long wait.

Thanks for the info Amy! So, we can book for a 3 nighter as a dummy and end up switching to a longer cruise if we want to? I knew about the date change but wasn't sure about the cruise type, if we had to do the same cruise when we switched from our dummy date to our actual date? I love a good deal!!!

Yes, booking on board is great... just book at three night cruise with two adults in it if you are booking a "dummy date"... then the downpayment is really low(like just a little over a hundred bucks).... If you want to transfer it to a travel agent for extra OBC you have to do that though within 30 days or you can name the travel agent when you book. Then whenever you do decide on your cruise date, they extra DCL OBC follows you plus the discount.

I also have a few designs I will post but they are not Valentines design. Just Disney.

I think those who are interested in making the matching t-shirts using iron on transfers should all be looking for ideas and then post them for us to consider. Eventually we can all vote on it and go with the majority if that's ok with everyone.

Looking for input from those signed up for t-shirts.


Happy to hear they have improved the military for deliveries. We were at Ft. Lewis(Washington) when this was happening back in the early 70's.

Hi everyone! I haven't had much time to be on here lately at all so I just spent some time reading and catching up on everything. I need about 3 of me right now to stay on top of things!! Work is crazy busy, baseball has started for my son which takes up a lot of time and my grandma is not doing well so I've been trying to spend some time at the nursing home with her. Just made a quick trip to Minnesota over the weekend to attend my sister's 40th birthday surprise party - it was awesome to surprise her!!! So glad I flew home on Monday morning or I may not have made it back through Denver with all the storming in Colorado and South Dakota. Crazy!

We got our airline tickets purchased for the cruise! Exciting to get one more thing out of the way! Jen (my cousin) and I are still looking at excursions and haven't made a decision yet. My husband isn't getting into the spirit of things yet as "it's too far away to get excited". What? It's never too early to get excited! So very thankful for my cousin who shares my excitement and we can make plans together! LOL!

Started a diet/nutrition/exercise program and that takes time too! But I lost 9 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Gained back 1/2 of a pound over my weekend trip but I'm back at it this week! Should be comfortable in shorts by cruise time!!

Hi all!! It's pretty slow here in the labor of L&D tonight but I REFUSE to say the Q word or all hizzy will break loose!!

I would love to submit a design for t shirts, but have absolutely NO idea how to. I don't even know how to email it to you Kathy. I am so sorry, but I am 1000000% computer illiterate If someone wants to direct me, or I can give the website where I find it, I'll be more than happy to do either....sorry. :worried

the easiest way to share with everyone on the board is to download a picture of it on Photobucket. www.photobucket.com

Then you just copy and paste the link for boards or forums. Can't remember the exact wording.

You an also copy and paste a link there for e-mail and it clearly states e-mail by the link.

That is how I do it.

Someone may have a different way to share.

I need to get my ideas downloaded to share too. I have been really busy the last 3 days after my e-mail got hacked. They wiped out my contact list and many that's the only way I have to contact them. So its going to take some time to get all that replaced.

That I don't know. Most of Disney's designs are all copy write so its illegal to use them to sell something but its ok to use it for personal use. That's why people can make Disney door signs or shirts ok. They arnt selling them.

Maybe Etsy is the same. Ok to use for personal use but not to sell for profit?

I am so ready for the cruise - or at least warmer weather. The weather in South Dakota is just too unpredictible!! We had a few 70 degree days a week or so ago and then a blizzard this week. We ended up with over 20 inches of snow Still digging out! At least no soccer for a few days.

Only nice thing was two days off of work - wish every week was only a 3 day work week!

Looks like we are heading to Montana this weekend to see my grandma. And hopefully get to see Janelle and her family and catch up

Ok, so tell me if I am crazy... My husband & I are so anxious that we are tossing around the idea of booking a September cruise, 3 or 4 nigh Bahamian on the Dream, as a "tide-over"! LOL!!! We are so bad. I keep trying to justify it to myself while we are pricing out things. I am making a promise to myself that I would scale back if we end up doing both. Has anyone ever done cruises so close together?? I am the most impatient person.

I went on the Dream on Jan 30 th, and then again towards the end of February. So you're not crazy It was 2 3 day cruises.

Plus if all goes well we have a 7 day Oasis cruise before this cruise, although we may have to move that one out a few months.

The Fantasy is a much nicer laid out ship in my opinion over the Dream.

But I still love the Dream.
