February 8th 2014 Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise Meet

Wooo, sounds fun for you! We haven't been on the newer RC ships but do like the cruise line as well! Thanks for making me feel better. :) My twins are 4 and I was looking at pics from our cruise when they were just 2... time goes way too quickly. I want to enjoy anything I can with them as much as I can! :lovestruc
I went on the Dream on Jan 30 th, and then again towards the end of February. So you're not crazy :rolleyes1 It was 2 3 day cruises.

Plus if all goes well we have a 7 day Oasis cruise before this cruise, although we may have to move that one out a few months.

The Fantasy is a much nicer laid out ship in my opinion over the Dream.

But I still love the Dream.:goodvibes

I agree, kids grow so fast. My kids were all grown before we even tried a cruise. But we have taken all but one on a few cruises and he wasn't interested. Also have enjoyed taking 4 of the 6 grandkids on Disney cruises. I know my posting name says 4 grandkids but 2 more have been added since I started posting.:lmao:

Enjoy and savor every minute, especially the frustrating ones, they actually become treasured memories too and can be a good laugh later on. Besides once your a grandma you can sit back and get payback watching your kids go through what you did and just smile!!

This will be our first time on a RC cruise. We just love Disney even though its just the 2 of us most cruises now. I am a Disney nut. We go to WDW almost every weekend and my house is filled with Disney stuff.

My dining room in my last house was set up with Disney stuffed animals sitting around the table having a pirate party. I had scarves from the ships pirate party, eye patches we wore on board and more. I dressed them all up and King Louie was hanging from my chandelier with a pirate map in his hand that everyone wanted to get. LOL!! We never did get to eat at that table. Maybe I will post some photos of it.

Then I have the Disney figurines around my fireplace now, before they just sat near the family room window. Disney cookie jars, cookie cutters, mickey waffle iron, cork boards with Disney pins on it, clothes themed for Disney. It goes on and on.

Time for bed here,
Have a great evening,

Kathy

It's the start of another week so we are 1 week closer to this cruise!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend like I did:goodvibes

Ok, so tell me if I am crazy... My husband & I are so anxious that we are tossing around the idea of booking a September cruise, 3 or 4 nigh Bahamian on the Dream, as a "tide-over"! LOL!!! We are so bad. I keep trying to justify it to myself while we are pricing out things. I am making a promise to myself that I would scale back if we end up doing both. Has anyone ever done cruises so close together?? I am the most impatient person.

This Feb 2014 cruise will be our first and I keep telling the DH and kids that we should take a "practice cruise" first so we know what it's like. My DH is not buying it, but if something cheap fits our calendar and budget we might have to do it, even if it's on another cruise line.

Heidi,
other lines do run some great prices. Be sure if you book one of them to research your specific ship. Check it for activities.
We tried a Carnival cruise once and didn't check it out. They had Bingo, late night adult show and the casino. One day was a galley tour and I swear the entire ship was there :lmao: They had to turn away most people because they only had an hour.
We were so bored!!!
Ports were great, ship was beautiful but that was it. Their humor was too raunchy for me, so the show didn't work either. We did go see a magician one evening but he was so bad you could see the assistants walk out behind the magic cabinet.
Kids were allowed in all 4 tiny pool even though one was 18 and older. Nobody enforced it. Crew had dirty uniforms, were rude, never even thanked you for a purchase and more.
if 12 kids didn't show at a kids club they closed it for the day.
We ran right back to Disney:worship::worship::worship:

I know most are not that bad, but be sure and check it out good before booking.

Hi guys! My impatience has caused our family to change from this sailing to the September 7th sailing. I am sad I won't be able to meet you all! We are planning on booking a shorter cruise while on board in September for spring 2014. Have a great cruise!!

Just wondering how it compares to DCL!

I havn't a clue, but when we get back I can tell you all about it.

I do know, 4 months prior to the cruise I must go online and reserve seats and times for all their shows. It doesn't assign you a seat, but it guarantees you will have a seat, since most shows fill up.

Also no free pop like on Disney, but you can buy a Soda card for $6.50 per person for all the pop you want.

Plenty of free restaurants, but also several you must pay to eat in, even a burger place.

Of course the have a flow rider, rock climbing wall, ice skating rink, mini golf and more. So its a bit different there than Disney. I think they have 6 pools and just as many hot tubs too. You can have assigned dining time or anytime dining, where you have about a 4 hour window to go eat.

Excursions meet on the dock, not on the ship. Those are a few changes that I know about so far.

WELCOME!!!

We have a sign up sheet for the FE on Face book . Its a private thread just for this cruise. I think page 1 tells you how to join the FB page.
If your not on FB let the us know and someone else will add you on to the list.

At the bottom of the FE sign up page are several events you can sign up for too. If the title isn't clear to you what it is all about, please ask and we will be happy to explain them. All will take place on sea days, so it won't interfere with excursions. Hope to see you signing up for a few things. It is early so you can think about for awhile if you want.:thumbsup2

Happy Friday everyone,

Anybody have plans for the weekend?

We may do a mini golf on Sunday. Saturday I want to watch the ship pull out on the web cam.
Most of the rest of the weekend I will be looking on line at curtains, medicine cabinets, wall paper borders, earth tone paint colors, shower doors, hot tubs and such. I have a few months, but I like to decide on some things ahead of time. That's my weekend.:thumbsup2

Hope all of you have good weekends planned too,

Kathy

Ok, it's been awhile since we did a question of the day, so here is one for today.

Do you have a ritual you always do to help pass the time before a cruise?
OR
If this is your first cruise, are you doing anything special to pass the time until we cruise?

My answer:

I make a countdown chain and hang on the wall. Each morning I take off 1 link until it gets to #1 and then it's time to go.
I number every link and some will say, fill out paperwork, get suitcases out, make FE gifts, pack suitcases.
If grandkids were going I would add things like a pizza night and watch a Disney movie, do a scavenger hunt for some pirate attire for the party and stuff like that.

I usually do the last 60 days but this time I started it at over 300 days out.

Kathy

I think we are going to put count down calendars in the our kids suitcases, Christmas presents.
