February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Pgsahm2, I'm going to book Playa Uvas right now too. I'm not very creative with names, but I'll try. Playa Uvas players, haha, umm...maybe I shouldn't think of names..

OK, I see this is going to be one of the meets that is not planned and has the biggest turn out. WOW. I want to go

My questions, sorry, I have only done the eastern and only went with other cruise when I went on non disney excurisions.

So do you have to book this ahead of time.(OK, I found the answer on that, when I went back and read all the post again). I haven't had any time to research and you guys have more information than I bet the web site has. Anyway. someone asked do you get a cab, what else do you have to do, are others thinking about going together. I am kind of shy when it comes to going to new unchartted areas that someone else I knew didn't already expose me to ahead of time. So if someone wouldn't mind a couple of tag alongs my DD and I would love to go. But I do not want to impose.

And I just love all your posts about the DH's just wanting to go as carefree as possible, and Dkids last min. I don't have any. DD is the same way and she is away from home. When she was home about 3 weeks ago, I almost had a meltdown when she didn't bring a lot of her things home from college to pack, when she had stricked orders to bring it home to be packed so I wouldn't have a 2 year old melt down. Boy was I close.

Anyway, thank you all for the laugh out loud and the tears that nearly came from my eyes.

There's so much activity on our thread! I'm getting excited by all the enthusiasm. Just before the holidays I made the long-coming decision to go back to school to be an elementary school teacher. I've been so focused on my application (which is due the week we get back) and studying for the California exams, that I haven't been around here much. On our past cruises, I've been packed and ready to go at a month out. We're now 2 weeks away and I've barely got my act together :sad2: . I have enlisted my DH's help in making our FE gifts. I'm soooo excited about them and hope everyone likes them.

Sad thing is not only do my kids have homework to do onboard, I do too! at least we have a long flight from CA and can get some of it done.

I can't wait to actually be onboard and take a breather. :cheer2: now back to studying....

Wow all those stories about DH and DS sound like my house...thou it hasn't happen in my house yet... oh...no...could be a bad weekend.

Susan you and your DD are welcome to tag along with our group to the beach. Newbies08 and us have made reservations to hang out at the beach. We won't be rushing off the boat in the morning!! I don't want to have to get up to early while I am on vacation!::coffee:

Linda, now that is funny, swim suit with Mickey on them, I know how my DS18 would react and that would be almost worth it...after letting you know about at the last minute and think you can pull it out of thin air...

Have a great weekend everyone. We are having another cold spell here, so it will be a good weekend to stay in and finish my FE gifts and start some packing.

Only 7 days of work left for me, yea!!:cheer2: Then it is :beach:

Meg, now that you are going back to get your teaching certification, what college are you attending in SoCal.

Thanks Pam, we will probably take you up on that. We, A two adults stay up late so we are not early riser, If I am its only to get up and get coffee, then go back to the cabin to veggout, or just enjoy quiet cove cafe.

Did you already make your reservation if so what time frame did you put in?
Thanks

I haven't made my reservation yet, was going to do it tomorrow. I have to put in a time frame...hmm will have to think about that one..I will let you know what time frame I decide on. I will have to contact Kath (newbies08) and find out what time frame she used.

Pam

Thank you fellow cruisers for keeping me laughing.....

hey we can have a designated coffee hour for the moms in the mornings. Haha, the Dh's will love that! but it's something to think about.....:coffee:

How about Quiet Cove Cafe and pay for coffee, but you can bring in coffee from drink island and then have pastries from Quite Cove Cafe. It is really nice.

OK, we are finally having some winter type weather, its cool and raining... That will get me in the mood for warmer weather now.

Hey Susan!
I'm hoping to get into Cal State Fullerton. My application is due in feb for their fall program. I'm working on pre-reqs and studying to pass the CSET, which I hear is a doozy of a test. keep your fingers crossed for me! :thumbsup2
Meg

As the resident DH of these boards, I feel like an outcast. I am bringing a jacket, constantly planning and have tried on my clothes (DW helped force that one on me).

I know I'm outnumbered here, but I find everything you gals write entertaining.

Good Luck with your application and adminsion to Fullerton State. When is your test, hopefully not just before you leave on vacations, I hope you have some time and don't have to worry about it on your cruise... If it is before the crusie here is some special magicalpixiedust: for you.

DD went to CSULB 1st year of college, she worked for DL for that year, she applied for Grad school at Fullerton and Long Beach for next fall also, she will be down there for audtions the last weekend of Feb for Fullerton and then a couple days later for Long Beach, we are probably going to make it a long weekend and hit up DL while we are there. What city do you live in?

If she end up at Fullerton next fall might ask for some advice on finding a place (cheap) to live. Dorms were OK for college freshman, but not so great for college grad student. She's hoping to be able to rent a room in a house like she has now. We almost now pay as much for her to rent a room as it is for my house payments. Housing is still way to high in ca in general, I've lived in CA my whole life you would think I would be adjusted to the prices but I'm not.

Anyways good luck on the test.

Susan

Our 11 year old will outgrow his tux immediately following formal night this trip. If anyone wants a tux jacket for say a 10 year old boy, its yours.

Let me know if you would like it.

i go to work on a NIGHT for a change and you all go crazy planning! sheesh!! okay, i am going to reserve online but count me and DD6 in for the beach (uvas)....i guess we will figure out when and where at some other date, right? they said a taxi of 5 or more is about 22 bucks

DH doesnt even HAVE a jacket so this should be FUN!! i guess we are hitting marshalls or TJ's sometime in the next few days!

2 MORE WEEKS Y'ALL!! :cheer2:

just tell me the TIME for the coffee tawk! (hey, i AM a new yorker after all!)

Playa Uvas Peeps or PUPs for short. LOL

PUPs, our group keeps growing which I think is really cool!

DS9 is driving me up the wall with talking about the menus every single day. Currently he's in the background asking about cherries jubilee and creme brulee cheesecake. If only I had his metabolism!

Has anyone ever put acrylic nails on by yourself? I tried it for the first time yesterday and it looks really good but my fingers hurt like a ... female dog. Are they supposed to be this sore?

Amanda

update: just reserved beach time on PLAYA UVAS! its so official now! HEHE:goodvibes

Sue, I booked Playo Uvas for 11:00 but I'm sure I'll get in if I'm later than that, or earlier although I'm not sure what time we can get off the ship, at least I'm booked. Anyone is welcome to come with us also. It's a $10 dollar cab fare for 1-4 people. You can do different packages also, with snorkel, food etc. I just did the basic entrance which I think comes with a drink package. We'll probably make sure to eat a very good breakfast that morning and then head out around 11:00 ish. I think it will be a blast to have a big group there too. It will just be me and two dd as the boys are going to see the ruins. Go Playa players!! haha.. (My dd17 would have a heart attack if she knew I said that)

Quiet Cove Cafe sounds wonderful, I forgot about that place probably cause I have too many kids and never made it in there? haha Lets do it, I can just say that I'll be there every morning, if there's anyone who wants to join, great!

SoCal, I'm pulling my kids out of school for the week...gasp! I know I know, I've gone through all scenerios and I figure it's a trip they will never forget! Fortunately, all the teacheres were very nice about it. We have February vacation the week after we return, so all homework will stay home and be done during Feb vacation week. How psyched were my kids? (Mainly my son) My girls are great students.

DiznutDad, so sorry for making you feel left out, you are more than welcome to join us for coffee!

Ok, so is anyone starting to freak out about forgetting something, either for the cruise or to do before the cruise? My entire upstairs looks like a hurricane went through there, piles of clothes everywhere, suitcases in every hallway, laundry needing to be put away. I even have a pile going on the dining room table with things I don't want to forget to pack, like sunscreen, camera, all my papers. On one counter I have about 10 lists of things to pack and things to do before the cruise, everyday another list appears. It will be so nice to be warm and not have to think of anything important for a week except what special drink I'm going to have that day.

I know this is a long one, but my family is still sleeping and I'm bored, can't make too much noise yet as I want them to get lots and lots of sleep so they will stay healthy for the next two weeks. I've thought about keeping them quarantined but they would never go for that. I was reading past posts from way back, before I joined all of you nice people and I saw that there were questions put out there that a few of you answered to get to know each other, well since there are many newcomers to this group can we maybe put those questions out there again, to get to know the new people.

One more thing, (sorry I know I'm rambling, and I haven't even had coffee yet) is anyone going to wear nametags for that first day? I know that sounds corny but I was reading other threads and alot of people ran into each other in the terminal waiting to board the ship, It can be a long wait to board and I was thinking it would be nice to chat with each other while waiting. I would hate to be sitting next to someone from the disboards for an hour and not know that I know them. Anyway, maybe we can all wear the same sticker or nametag or something, maybe just a colored ribbon on our wrists, or something? Any ideas? or maybe noboday wants to do this and I'm just being annoying, so I'll stop. haha, have a nice day everyone.

I was thinking of doing the acrylic nails but have never done it myself. I'm like you, my nails hurt a day or so after I get them on.

Enjoy the nails, they look so nice. Now I'm thinking maybe I should go get mine done. :)

PERFECT NAME, I LOVE IT! Much better than players!! lol

btw, yes those nails kill like a son of a -----! I couldn't do it again. It does go away though, you should be fine by cruise time!

I'm up for name tags or something to identify members of the group. I don't think we'll be there too much before our 1st meet. We will be coming from WDW via the Disney bus and I think CBR where we are staying is one of the last pick-up spots for the bus.

It was a couple years ago but we got to the port early and had to wait a bit, kids had fun running around and watching disney movie but it was a long wait all the same. So I'de love to have someone to hang with at the port if anyone is there with time to spare.
