February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort in one of the new "pirate" themed rooms. The kids don't know about the themed room, they just think it will be the same type room as when we went there 2 yrs. ago.

DD8 asked for and had a totally pirate themed b-day party in Sept. I picked up some fun B/W striped pirate themed clothes at really great clearance prices and have pirate bandannas from her b-day party. Can't wait to see all the pirates from our group at the party! pirate:

We are early dining and we have Palos ressie for 2/8 at 7:30. Will I be missing anything big by having a Sun. reservation?

Do they charge you to go to the work out facility?

I read that Magic got flat screen tvs in the rooms recently.:happytv:

from what i remember on the wonder, no charge to use the fitness center, just for the extra things like bodyfat testing and nutritional classes and of course, personal training

I called DCL yesterday too, lol... I thought maybe they could check the Palo ressies on their end (and maybe even have access to something I didn't???), but no :(

I'm really starting to think about Playa Uvas. I was going to do Chankanaab, but... I saw Uvas on the net when searching around, but was afraid it would be one of those places that looks better on the internet than in person-- you never really know what you're going to get!!! But it's reassuring that people who have already been there are going back because they liked it... Decisions, decisions!!!!

I think we (me, dd7, dd17) will probably do Playa Uvas, DDH and DDS are doing Tulum Ruins, so they will be gone for like 7 hours. I'm so needing the warmth and the sun today!

I'm heading out with some friends for coffee, I'm suprised they invited me, I'm sure they are sick and tired of hearing me talk about cruise and dboards and mexico, and beaches and sun and warmth, hahah oh well. Have a great day everyone!

I just caught up on all the new posts since I last logged in last night. I'm off to a dentist appointment but wanted to say, "HI!!":wave2:

I, of course, will be back later since I am one of those not-so-closet DISBoard addicted persons :disrocks:

Write wonderfully funny and insightful things while I'm away.

Oh, real quick...we are experiencing a heat wave today...the temp has rocketed to about 40 degrees! :hyper: Back down tomorrow to artic but we have sun and warmth for today, yeah!

TTFN,
~ Dee

I thought the website was just me too. Glad others are not overly thrilled with it.

On a completely other topic... and sorry, its a little ranty... and probably geared to women although I am sure some of the men out here have great disconnect stories about them and their wives as well....

DH and I went on an NCL cruise last spring. Meals on NCL are "cruise casual" which involved at khakis every night.... which he wore except for one dressier night at their French restaurant.

I had told him that DCL was the same - dinner's were cruise casual through formal and that cruise casual meant at least khakis THREE TIMES.... specifically KHAKIs

Last night he was absolutely surprised to learn that cruise casual meant AT LEAST KHAKIs.

Okay, thanks for listening. I appreciate it.

I really don't want to be at work, I really want to be having coffee somewhere talking about the cruise.

:-)

Margo, I'm back from coffee and I only spoke of the cruise 5 or 6 times...lol, it's nice to be able to go on and on here about this trip and not have anyone roll their eyes, at least if they do I can't see it! My DH told me last night he'll probably be wearing jeans for at least one dinner, because his khakis don't fit good anymore! He only has about 10 pair of khakis, and none of them feel right?? please.......so much for not shopping before the cruise! He also refuses to bring a dress jacket, he's going to stick to his white oxford and mickey tie for the formal dinner and he's not happy with his bathing suit he needs a new one. who doesn't?? Geez, talk about ranting! thanks for listening to me!

We'll have coffee together on the cruise and talk about the next cruise!

Have a good day at work.

We actually had the "growth" issue a bit too at our house. He's actually pound wise holding but he stopped lifting and well.... :-)

But we pushed through the pain and he is bringing a tie and sports coat.

And yes, let's have coffee! YAY! Oh my goodness, its getting so close.

We have heat wave today too! Supposed to be 58!!! Woohoo!!!

The entrance to Uvas is $7 a person. It'll be funny if our cruise meet ends up there and nowhere else on Coz! Come one, come all! The more the merrier! And whatever other cliches you can think of that work. lol

My dh is probably not bringing a jacket either. He may not even sport a tie on formal night... gasp! The three boys will make up for it though. I bought the older two jackets at Goodwill for really cheap. And the littlest has the cutest "suit", minus a jacket.

Having a coffee on the cruise to talk about the cruise... LOVE IT!! :)

Ok-- count me in for Uvas :) I don't think I looked at that one very carefully before, but turns out that it's actually right there by Chankanaab, so it's the best of both worlds :) Here's a quick question for whoever has been there before-- It says something on the website about access to the "marine park." Any info on that? :) I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Now it's time to figure out Cayman...

I'm LOL at work reading the DH talk on "OMG, we have to dress up beyond khaki or nothing fits so now what..." type stuff. That whole scene is/has been a repeat at my house too. I've been doing full reveal of the details all along and it's finally sinking in that yes, you need to pull out summer clothes and see what works! :rotfl:

My latest DH "OMG" was this Monday when I talked about us flying out on 2/6 and he was convinced he hadn't asked for 2/6 off from work...he was wrong and all is happy. pixiedust: I won't tell him I waved pixie dust to fix it all..JK!

Thank you fellow cruisers for keeping me laughing.....I'm glad to hear it's not just me..

I don't know what the marine park is at Uvas but it sounds like we'll have a crew there which will be great for us as well as the kids too! :beach:

I'm so needing to sit on the beach but right now I've got a pile of :laundy: to think about.

(My DD17 just said to me, "I think I need to go shopping for a new bathing suit", ughh disney take me away!)

hey we can have a designated coffee hour for the moms in the mornings. Haha, the Dh's will love that! but it's something to think about.....:coffee:

ps... what will we do after the cruise is over and we are all back to our normal lives? (sorry for that thought) We'll have to keep in touch anyway, I don't know what I'll do without having everyone to chat with!!

After this cruise, we will plan the next one(s). We had never cruised until last year and now I just recommend cruising to anyone who wants to listen. It was bar none the best vacation I'd ever taken.

Question about beach in Cozumel...

Is this on people's own or part of a cruise related trip? Again, newbie question I know!

If its not part of a disney sponsored activity, do you like take a cab or? IF someone has a link to something I can self educate too! :cheer2:

Also, I am glad I don't have the only insane spouse! :-) More than y'all know!

I do plan to deck walk most days but would LOVE coffee with folks before or after.... is there a better spot on board to get coffee?::yes::

Margo, it's a seperate thing from the cruise, it's a beach club and you pay an entrance fee which I think is around $7, more for snorkel, marine park, food. Here's the link, check it out http://www.playauvas.com/

I usually get just get coffee up at the soda fountain, they have coffee set up there in the early am, then i usually sit somewhere outside, we'll figure it out.. I found some webcams of cozumel, not playa uvas but close enough.
Have fun http://www.cozumel-hotels.net/webcam/

OMG! This is EXACTLY the scene as it played out in my house today!!
Me: DH, did you pull out your summer clothes yet?
DH: Naw, we still have some time, I'll do it tomorrow.
ME: Well, don't ya think we should make sure you have everything before long.
DH: Yea

(in comes DS 17)

DH17: Mom, I need my swim trunks for school today, we're swimming in gym. ME: If you leave those there, or Lose them in the locker room, I cannot get you another pair.
DS17: Yea, about that, I was gonna tell you, I don't have any shorts...
Me: Where do you people think I'm gonna pull this stuff out of my...a**?
Everyone: Mom, you're taking this cruise way to seriously!!

I kid you not, that was about 6 hrs ago!

WHAT! All b/c I don't want to find out the night before (as they are all fighting over the washing machine) that noone has anything to wear!!!! AHHHHHHHHH! So here's what I did...

Jumped online and bought myself some new clothes! Ha, I'll show them, I'll have MORE than enough to wear!!:thumbsup2 They can all go NAKED!

Thanks for listening. I can't wait to see what happens when we get to OKW and end up buying everything at the Magic Kingdom! I'll show DS17 when he has swim tunks with Mickey all over them!!!

:coffee: this is me, exhausted! :hourglass Here is the moments we have left to get ready.:beach: Here is the beach...priceless

So relieved to hear that my DH will not be the only one not wearing a jacket on formal night. I couldn't fathom the thought of having to pack that with everything else we need to bring for 2 weeks. Why is it that the baby, being the smallest member of the family, needs more stuff than the rest of us combined?! :confused3

I'm so glad that all of you can share in the cruise excitement with me. :hyper: No one else around here seems to get it, and I don't want to drive my friends crazy talking about it. Wouldn't want them to think I was trying to rub it in!! ;)

We don't have anything planned for any of the ports. We'll probably just get off and walk around at Key West and Grand Cayman. Cozumel day we'll most likely stay on the ship. We've done the Western 2 times before, so we're happy just enjoying the empty ship while the rest of you fight for beach chairs!!! However, Castaway Cay will see us lounging on the beach. I can almost taste the Konk Koolers! :goodvibes

I know it's not funny to you, but it's funny to me!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Don't you just love how relaxed men are before a vacation? It's like they don't understand what is really involved in the packing process. They just show up and act like it's another day!:rolleyes2

For the Playa Uvas People... I think we need a name since there's so many of us! :upsidedow I reserved on the website today. It's very simple and they do not require a payment in advance. I emailed Eduardo about reserving it and he said that with this being the busy season I was better off booking us at the resort for the day instead of just showing up. So I went ahead and went through with it. And I booked two massages as well.

Also, the beach is within the Natl Park and they request PABA free sunscreen.

That's it for now!

Pgsahm2, I'm going to book Playa Uvas right now too. I'm not very creative with names, but I'll try. Playa Uvas players, haha, umm...maybe I shouldn't think of names..
