February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

For those on a strict budget thinking about Key West. Someone posted this link and I wanted to share it. We've decided it's the way to go. The pricing is reasonable. And kids 4-12 travel cheaper. ( as opposed to 9 being the cutoff age between child/adult pricing.)
I think it will allow my large family the option to split up when my younger ones have had enough and DH and DS wanna check out a bar or something.

Hope it helps.

OMG That was a hoot, I laughed out load.

Thanks for the link, yes this does sound like a good plan, hit a lot of the highlisght since we have never been before.

Sue You're very welcome! Since you've been doing the OT as our "cruise director" I felt I need to contribute! And It really does seem reasonable don't ya think?
Now remind me where I can find past navigators again :)

disraders i know you want a break BUT i will be hitting the gym, training my DH every single morning if you want to join us, i promise you will feel it but i wont overdo it......hehe

me: Michelle
DH: David
DD8: Lillie
DD6: Lola

cant wait to hear your voice Monica, you must sing to us on karaoke night (i have a singing secret too, maybe i will share it when i meet you all.....):hyper:

Sue thanks so much for posting the navigator link :goodvibes

No work today so hopefully I can get a lot of packing done and make sure I have everything else we need like all of our toiletries. Got up at 5:30 to take DH to work... since it's been snowing since yesterday morning I decided I wouldn't make him walk all the way across the cold parking lot in his scrubs. While the rest of you are slimming down I'm puffing out quite nicely so I guess I better try all those clothes on one more time just to make sure I don't need to make a visit to the maternity aisle :rotfl: I had just gotten a dress this past fall for formal night too... so here's hoping it still fits!

I saw that little groups were forming for the martini tasting... obviously I'm out for that... but I was wondering if anyone else was really into bingo. DH and I will be at every session we can make it to if anyone wants to share a table or something :goodvibes

we have never played bingo before on the cruises weve been on so i am seriously considering it this time since everyone says its so much fun! my BFF is traveling with her BF and DD8 and when the men and kids are playing maybe me and my BFF will BINGO?! does it happen everyday and is it during the day usually or at night?

martini tasting? i dont drink but DH sure does so i will be sure to inform him of that!! he is a MAJOR red wine lover and beer lover as well! (jeez he sounds like a lush but i can assure you he is not hehe)

I already warned DH that I wanted to head down for Bingo-- especially spa bingo, haha :) It sounds fun, so I will be aiming to go to at least a couple (probably the spa and DVC ones). It'll be nice to see some other Mountaineers there :)

Think I read your secret :) I don't know if I can even show my face at karaoke with all of you professional singers. The only place I sing is in the shower when the house is empty and in the car. It's just something that no one else should have to go through hearing :crazy2:

JR and AJs Mom --

What is spa bingo? That SOUNDS intriguing.

Thanks for any insight.

I am still such a newbie :-)

Ha Ha, I forgot about the bingo, last cruise all I did was say "I want to go play bingo" but I kept missing it. My family kept making fun of me. I'm in for it!!! I love playing bingo too. We'll have to have a designated "bingo" table, There is bingo just about every day if Im not mistaken.

Does anyone know if you can bring your own water on board the ship? I know it was allowed at one time but with all the security regulations now I didn't know if that was still ok?

So we made all our magnets, in case you missed it some of us just went to Home Depot and got the mickey shaped paint chips, they peel off the little backing, and then we stuck a piece of magnetic tape on the back. Very simple, just make sure when you peel the mickey off the backing that you have a thick layer, almost 2 layers of paper otherwise it's very flimsy. If you are thinking of doing this, get extra to practice with.

Well we got hit hard with snow last night, I've got to go dig out my car. DH has been out plowing all night so Im on my own. I would stay in and pack but my dd has a skating competition, DS has a hockey game. For some reason skating activities NEVER get cancelled due to inclement weather.

I really feel behind not being packed, hopefully later tonight I can make a dent. Hope everyone has a great day off.

So, I spent some time lurcking around the DVC board lst night and found this site where they have the actual mailing addresses of the resorts. www.ownerslocker.com/locations

I read about many people who ship stuff, Christmas Decorations, bottled water, groaceries.... Crazy! So I'm armed and ready to ship all of my FE's and who knows what else. If it arrives before we do, they said to make sure the package has C/O our name on it...and that's it!! I'm so excited, I feel like I've uncovered the magic clue!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Hopefully this helps.

Have a good day

you know what i would like to do on this cruise? watch the sunset on the beach...:beach:

when we were in Aruba we would sit on the beach after dinner and watch the sun set, it was so peaceful and relaxing. not sure i can swing this with boarding times, i am going to have to check and see. i have not even looked at the times for the ports etc yet :crazy2: , i am behind schedule! but at least i am feeling better, thanks for all the well wishes!

i am off today since its MLK day, one of the benifits of being a gov emp.

hope everyone has a great day!

Compulsive planner that I am...

I searched the navigators for which Susan sent the link.

Tastings appear to be MONDAY....

It seems like they have bingo twice a day on certain days. I'm not so sure I'm brave enough for pajama bingo though. I hate people seeing me in my sleepwear... but I guess then I don't have to get up early that morning ;)
I'm definitely all about spa bingo.

margolyn - at every bingo there's different door prizes where players are chosen at random. So from the description it sounds like all the door prizes will be something at the spa. Last time I won a facial and it was awesome!

JRandAJsmom - maybe we should do a rendition of country roads at karaoke :)

Mickchick6 - I think the person in the picture you referred to is Monica, Sue's daughter. I'll take the compliment any day though:rotfl2: ! And yes, Monica is cute too!

Speaking of Monica - break a leg! Will anyone be taking pictures or video of your performances? I think that would be awesome to see. The costume is amazing!

Lauren - My mom and I have talked about bingo. I think it'll be fun! I'll have to see when it's scheduled, but we'll probably play at least once. I'll skip the spa bingo, though - I prefer the cash (or another cruise) :thumbsup2 !

Unfortunately I am not off today - or tomorrow either unless the snow keeps up. It's been snowing most of the morning, but they don't expect it to accumulate much. We'll see about that! Since most of the roads have been treated through the weekend, it's melting as soon as it touches, but the sidewalks are completely covered and the grass is about 45% white already, so I can pretty much guarantee we'll end up with more than forecasted unless it stops pretty soon. Wish me luck on the drive home this evening! I will probably be making this face all the way home :headache: !

Update on my busy weekend :rolleyes2 - I watched Mr Deeds and Stepbrothers, let's just say I was mildly entertained, and caught up on my CSIs and Numb3rs. It was just too cold in the basement to watch The Dark Knight (I have it on BluRay and the player is hooked up to the basement TV). My first task after the cruise is to find some freaking insulated curtains for the basement so we don't have to take comforters down with us to watch TV (and play Guitar Hero :rockband: ) I may even break down and buy a space heater. I packaged all of our FE gifts, but ended up with quite a few of the kids' gifts left over so I may need to reopen the kids bags and add some more stuff in - no big deal since I also have to affix the name tags now that we know everyone's names! I am not sure our glow sticks will survive the trip without being activated. I found out about halfway through that as I stacked up the bags some of the glow sticks got snapped and started glowing in little places. I replaced them as I noticed, but I am apologizing now if your glowstick is DOA :sad1: . I may even pull them out all together and just hand them out at the Pirate party to keep from disappointing the kiddos - getting dead glowsticks in their goodie bag would probably be a downer! I didn't get much more done because I had so much TV to catch up on :happytv: (bad me!) but I think I'm still in pretty good shape. I've had our actual FEs for months now, our magnets are done, I'm making little name tags for us out of the Home Depot Mickey Heads - I'm still trying to decide between safety pins or sticky tape for those - and I have pretty much all our clothes separated (but not yet folded and packed) and I do have the handy dandy packing list ready and printed out so it's really just a matter of cramming everything into the bags!

I figure since my posts are always (way too) long, I'll limit it to one each day or so and just get everything out all at once. I hope no one minds. With that said, I'll be back tomorrow!

See you all in about 19 days!

Sabrina

So to everyone who wished me luck and "break a leg" THANK YOU!!!!! The opening show was absolutely amazing! shockingly there were no disasters! I'm going to get some really awesome autograph pictures of myself and my other cast members! maybe i'll be able to get enough for th FE haha...oH yeah mom I'm trying to do that BTW...anyways it really made me feel special reading all of those! had a smile on my face!

cant wait to hear your voice Monica, you must sing to us on karaoke night (i have a singing secret too, maybe i will share it when i meet you all.....):hyper:

haha i will be singing on karaoke night! its so much fun and it will be even more if there are more people there! i think last cruise we got at least 20 people to show...that's the record so far! so you all should be there participating or just enjoying the fantastic music that will be sung...i cant wait to hear all of you! hehe

Im totally making the entire cast jealous about the cruise! haha cuz they'll have to be stuck in central cali *bleck*, in the not so warm weather! plus half the cast are disney fans! anyways i cant wait to finally meet all of you! *jumps up and down*

Mickchick6 - I think the person in the picture you referred to is Monica, Sue's daughter. I'll take the compliment any day though:rotfl2: ! And yes, Monica is cute too!

Aha! That is why we need name tags! I'm so sorry! It is so hard to keep screen names and real names straight. I'm gonna attribute it to old age!

Have a good day!:rotfl:

Margo:beach:

Glad you found it, I found the margaritas at2pm and martinis 4pm. If I were to do both, I would need at least 1 hour between to recover. I might have to wear the lamp shade afterward though. I see on Thurdays they have another margarita at 2 and then beer at 4pm. I know there is a wine tasting also, but haven't found that yet. You hubby will have a great time tasting.

Great to hear that everything went well Monica! Congrats!

Sabrina, have you seen Dark Knight yet? We saw it in the theatres and loved it. I still want to buy our own copy to keep. I'm a huge movie buff and watch all kinds. Netflix is my best friend! :)

We have tea at 3 on Monday... Does that mean I'll miss out on a tasting? Screw the tea then. LOL

Speaking of Palo. Sue, do we have a list of when everyone will be eating there? ROFL Maybe some of our times overlap.

I pulled out another suitcase today to put stuff in. I am beginning to realize how much I really need to do very, very soon. It's starting to sink in a little bit and stress me out.......

Hey Susan,

I suspect I will taste and hubby will nap.... :-) it works out good.

I too could not really do both without tipping over - LOL. We'll figure it out.

Oh and PGSAHM2 - I know EXACTLY what you are saying about the suitcase stuff. I have started pulling clothes together for DS9 and myself.... DH is on his own!

:-) I say that but.....
