February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Hi!

My husband and I will be joining you on this sailing. We live in Orlando and have been on several Disney cruises. I just booked so I don't have a stateroom number yet but I will keep you posted. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi Jill glad you will be joining us. I'm sure we will be seeing you at the adult pool, not to many of us in the group with adults only. Since you have been on several DCL what was your favorite. I have only done the Easterns can you tells about you experience with the Western if you have been on one?

I have added your information to thread 136.

Hi!

Thanks for adding our info. I think this is my 15th cruise with Disney. Bob doesn't always get to come so I think he is at 10 or 11.
You will definitely find us at the adult pool/bar. I love that Disney does the adult areas so well.
We did the Western cruise Sept of 07. We did a pub crawl in Key West with some folks on this board. It was fun and made me go to some other bars besides Irish Kevins. We love the party atmosphere at that bar.
We did a cooking class in Cozumel that was fun. Unfortunately, I got burned but I would do it again...more carefully, of course.
In Grand Cayman, we just walked the main area and stopped to have an overpriced drink. We may do an excursion but we just booked last night and I need to do some more research.
I am counting the days! :cool1: :cool1:

WOW! I'm off the board for a short time and it takes off again like crazy:woohoo: !

Welcome to the newest cruisers:flower3: ! We are going to really have a MAGICAL time.

OK, just like I was nice enough to give up my main seating ressies :upsidedow I was nice enough to bite the bullet and take on the dreaded..."Stomach BUG" so noone else will have to ruin their cruise with it. I have been so sick for a full week  - great diet plan though until I begin drinking and eating again.

I told my kids and hubby that I've "signed-up" for FE's and DISmeet. They were excited. My DH actually said, "Yeah, you're going have a ship load of best friends and I'm just going to go along hearing everyone say hello Dee, hi Dee, nice to see you Dee". I laughed. I told him he could jump on using my ID and say hello and get involved in the discussions. He claimed he doesn't have time but I bet you all meet Jerry soon! You'll love him like I do  .

Has anyone had any more creative juices flowing for our group name?

I bought a $2 FE on ebay from Australia! It was under $10 with shipping. Nothing special but it is my back up should I not get off my bumm and attempt to make our own. I read the FE thread but I'm still not confident I could make one...willing to try but did you see the real beauty of some of them on the thread...wow. As for FE gifts, I've began collecting some small Disney items and will begin looking for some items that represent our state and I think I'll get my kids involved and have them make some small gifts (candy, magnets, doorhangers, whatever we come up with). We're driving down so we don't have the same space concern as others.

Someone had asked about weather in Feb. on the cruise...we cruised in Feb this year but to the Bahamas. The weather was warm, pool and shorts all the way but the wind was kicking the entire time, really kicking! We had 8 foot waves much of the trip. Loved the pix of the gail force winds by the way - thanks for sharing!

Toodles,
Dee

Welcome Lauren! And congrats on your new pregnancy. I have three boys and loved being pregnant. Shhhh.... Don't tell dh that I wouldn't mind doing it again if it happened... lol You're in 7092. We sailed in 7098 on the Wonder and absolutely loved the location. It's perfect for the aft elevators. Loved it!

MyLove4, those pics scare me! OMgosh! I hate wind. I guess I'd better be prepared just in case.

Welcome Jill! Wow, 15 cruises. I'm so jealous of you guys that have cruised so often. I feel like such a newbie! :)

My FE is in the makings. My mom is helping me (actually she's doing most of it! lol) and it's going to be quite cute. I chose a non-Disney material but we're adding Mickey heads to it. I've also printed out some magnets for our door.

Anyone else have a goal to lose weight before the cruise? I'm going to do my best to lose about 10 pounds before then. I've lost 4 so far and I feel confident that I can lose at least another 5 but I don't know about another 10... especially with the holidays coming up. I know it's going to be hard. But I keep reminding myself that we cruise in less than 2 months!!! Gotta lose to cruise!

I'm right there with you! Trying to lose 10, but hoping for 7 lbs. I feel like I'm running out of time. good in that the cruise is closer :cool1: , but bad in that I still need to lose a few to fit into my "cruise wear". and worse, this extra weight is from my last cruise in August! Must stay motivated and focused and steer clear of all those holiday treats :sad2:

Also need to lose 7-10 as I am good for gaining a pound a day on the cruise. I work out almost every morning on the ship but it doesn't seem to counteract the Chocolate Souffle at Palo. Yum!!!!

Haha-- me too... Take it off now so when I put it back on, I don't feel so bad :rotfl: Aiming for the 10. I go up and down so much that I'm not so worried about taking THAT off before-- it's what's going to end up going ON that scares me, haha  And I've been drooling over the menus already, so my waistline is definitely in trouble popcorn::

I like the valentine theme idea... Seems rather appropriate :lovestruc I was worried about my boys missing their valentine parties at school-- but I think valentines all week on a cruise ship beats the heck out of some cupcakes and games in the snowy north-east weather!!!

Anyone who has cruised before have any favorite beaches at the different ports? We're not doing any excursions-- just "roughing it" on the shores. The boys have never been to real beaches before (unless you count the resort ones in DW, haha), so we're planning on that. We were thinking of Chankanaab in Cozumel, but I haven't been able to find anyone who has actually been there to tell me if that's a good pick... Anyone?

And one last question (I promise!). I think it might have already been posted on here, but I can't find it... If we booked before the $99 deal was announced, can we still get it and how do we do that? Can you still do it if you booked through DVC?

Sorry so much!!! Maybe one of these days I'll be a veteran cruiser and I can answer all of these instead of ask them!!! :cool1:

I called DVC about the $99 deal, wanting to confirm if we needed to add a code to our reservation as we had booked last Feb. She said no code needed to be added and that we were all set. they'll leave a voucher for us in our stateroom with dates for when we can book the $99 deal. just call MS during those dates. also, you can book the $99 deal on points instead of cash if you wanted (i think she said 23 points per person).

That is really cool. I'm a DVC'er also. 23 Points is great per person. I'll have to check that out as well.

Thanks for the infor, I knew about the cash part but not point.

JJCJFL - Were you on the 9/8/07 Western? We were on that cruise for DS#1's 3rd birthday.

I hear you on needing to lose weight before the cruise!!! I just had a baby in September, so I have quite a few extra pounds I'd love to be rid of!

It so nice to see so much more activity on this thread. I can't believe the cruise is coming so quickly.

Hi everyone,

1stly, I love all the activity on our thread! Our FE list is growing. It is very exciting!

My cousin just booked a cruise for April and I believe another in the summer. She said her kids are cruising for FREE and the adults were paying $99. I believe she said she booked the 3 night and then a 4 night back-to-back. Typically she'd get 2 ajoining rooms and this time she got a suite with verandah and is paying much less! I wish we were able to take advantage of this $99 bounce back and the other deals. Nice time to book!

We did just score a huge thing...I've been checking back a few times concerning Palo. Well, tonight I reserved Brunch and High Tea each on at-sea-days. I am sooooo stoked. We did have dinner ressies already for Cayman Island day. I don't know what to expect but all we hear is how wonderful it is.

Today we also got cat 1 seating for Hoop Dee Doo Review for when we return off ship. Sadly I waited too long to reserve for Cinderella's awesome breakfast but I'll keep trying for that also.

As for losing 10 lbs before the cruise...I'm one of those who lose 10 but gain 20 back. I'd be excited if on sail away day my clothes still fit so I have something to wear :scared: . I'm very impressed with those who can lose weight and work out...especially working out on board - amazing. You go girl :woohoo: . Any hints...I'm all Mickey Ears?!:mickeyjum

What are your favorite things to do at Disney? We always try to have Breakfast at the castle, Hoop Dee Doo Review, Chef Mickey, Pirate Excursion for the kids at Grand Floridian, Lunch at Crystal Palace, Mickey's Magic Philharmonic...wow what a large list and I haven't even left MK area yet.

Does anyone have any special secret finds?

~ Dee

Could someone point me in the right direction to find more information on the "$99 Deal." I went to the DVC site with no luck. I've seen several postings and did a search but couldn't make out all the details.

Also, is there any word on the fuel surcharge?

BTW, we will be arriving on the 6th and staying at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach. And we have a DS5.8. We are doing our best on the FE but it looks like eBay would be the quick route.

Thanks for your help,

But I was working on a few magnets for our cabin and came up with the following for a potential

Valentine Voyagers

You are sooooooo talented :flower3: ! Seeing Valentine Voyagers on screen and so beautifully displayed...I've gotta say I like it :thumbsup2 ! Do you have Walt Clipart or do have a favorite link online where you find your nice clipart?

~ Dee

I love it! :thumbsup2 You are very talented!

I was going to attempt to make something small for the FEs with our cruise name on it, but I'm going to need to get started pretty soon. Should we call a vote or does everyone like "Valentine Voyagers"?

Valentine Voyagers is fine by me! Nice job on the magnet. I have printed up a few for us too. It's been fun making them!

My mom and I worked on the FE this morning. We're almost done. I can't wait so I can put it into the box for the kids to open on Christmas morning. I've also finished typing up the clues for the treasure hunt. The last one makes me cry so I have to share:

This will be in the envelope that they will open after they've worked out how to spell Mickey's Boat with all of the letters they'll find during their treasure hunt.

"We planned this trip starting December 15, 2007.
Everyday we feared the secret would be given.

Let’s get to the bottom of this.
(And we expect at least one kiss!)
Great job finding all of the clues…….

Surprise!
You’re going
on a
Disney Cruise!"

Oh, it makes me want to cry...

I have all of the clues in the Walt font and in various different colors. They're pretty! lol

And yep, in case you caught on, we booked our cruise one year ago today! Only 10 more days until we can finally share it with the boys!!!!!

Oh, it makes me want to cry...
/QUOTE]

OMG! It is making me cry also! I can just imagine the excitement and screaming when they open it and realize what it all means.

You must be beside yourself anticipating and waiting for the big reveal!

Does anyone else have any holiday surprises or any special onship surprises planned?

As for our name, I'm willing to go with any name. When I suggested the Valentine Voyagers I was just throwning it out there. I like many of the others as well. I do love the magnet, however ;) !

From lurking on other threads I found many groups also selected a color theme (shirt colors for the DISmeet, theme for the door to find FE's from our group easier, etc...). Lime green was popular. Is there any reason for green that I'm unaware of? If we do go with Valentine maybe we could go with shades of red or pink. If we go with a more caribbean name we could go for a brighter color or maybe island floral.

I was at my DD's school this morning and shared with some of her teachers that we are cruising in FEB...needless to say they were all very jealous and rightfully so! I'd be jealous of the cruise also if it weren't me already going.

I'd love to hear your surprises!

~ Dee
