February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

The launch is currently Feb. 27 at 1:32am. If it were the 28th it would be 1:06am. 23-25 minutes earlier per day.

OMG! My DS(4) is a HUGE Space Shuttle fan! We had looked into launch dates and were so disappointed to discover that we were going to miss the launch by one week. We are driving down from Ohio and were planning to arrive Friday, but now we may have to leave earlier! DH is trying to figure out right now if he can afford to take another day off work.

Johnna, I know that I need to send you info regarding our fam, but I can't find the post that says exactly what you need? Also, I can't PM you because I don't have enough posts on here yet, so what is your email address again? Thx!

I hope to god no one here is a Dirk or Mavericks fan because I'll be super pissed at you if you are, ok just kidding but I do hate Dirk, Mavericks and Mark Cuban to warn you all

No worries...like I said on the other board, I just hate basketball completely. he he he

Eeep!
Single digits already!!! I remember when it was well over 200 days!!!

Dave, don't kill the GDH :lmao: wait until we are on the ship and loose him in one of the islands, we'll make it look like an accident. :rotfl2:

I just got woken up by a giant storm, it is thundering, lightning and sounds like there is a little army outside with water hoses and buckets throwing all they have at my bedroom window. :scared1:

Tonight I am starting the packing efforts, I am determined to be packed and ready to go for next Friday right after work. I will just throw my suitcases into the car and we will make our triumphant way down to WDW.:cool1:

I even got some tunes downloaded for the drive, I love driving down there.

To all of the peeps getting ready to depart, safe travels:hug: and get the party started for the rest of us! We will be slowly loosing our minds here with the expectation, laundry and packing :laundy: :upsidedow

I just hope I don't go crazy at work, our design load has tripled in the last week, where the heck do people find all these things for us to do right before my vacay? Have they no fear for their lives? :lmao:

OK I am gonna try to have one more hour of sleep before work, catch ya later my peeps! For the FL ones... geez! Why so cold?! I can't take it!
*snuggles close to stuffed gator and lobster under 4 blankets*

Hey Dave Michael and Marla!!
Your cruise is sooo close!! Have fun this weekend on the ship! Touch base with us if you can and let us know the fun we are missing!!

:Welcome: to all the new families that are joining us!! it looks like we are going to have such a great crew!:grouphug:

We are down to the single digits for our departure for Florida next week, we are flying down on Thurs!:cool1:

Anyone else staying at the Radisson on Friday night? WE are hoping for the NASA launch and are going to ask for a room facing Cape Canaveral so we can watch it from our room hopefully and take some shots of the take off! (If it happens that is, we understand that they are constantly changing the dates.. but fingers crossed it would be so awesome to see!)

Hi to all,
For those of you leaving soon I hope that all of your travels are safe. :wizard: For those of you going on the first week, please try and save a few cocktails for the rest of us:banana:
My group is staying at the Radisson. Our flight arrives in Orlando at 7:15 so we hope to be at the hotel by 8:30. Maybe we will see you there:woohoo:

so didn't finish my packing last night because Mavs were killing the Nets and I was super pissed so I was throwing things against a wall going to finish packing right now this morning so tonight I can watch some grey's anatomy and hopefully see some teams 8th seed and below in the west win tonight:goodvibes

Tomswifemer: my email is jerseygirlstory@gmail.com; send me your email, real names of adults; names and ages of kids; what dinner seating you have, where you're from, and your cabin number.

EVERYONE: THIS WILL BE THE LAST LIST UPDATE! After Friday, I don't plan to update the list anymore, so if you need to change anything, let me know asap.

Marla and Dave - will miss you on the board, but absence makes the heart grow fonder, so it will be even better to meet you (and the GDH, despite his "issues") next week.

And my kids will pass on the swim with the whale offer. Thanks anyway. :goodvibes

NEXT WEEK PEOPLE!! You who haven't packed yet, God Bless you. I don't think I would have been able to handle that. It would have stressed me out to be in that position, and my being stressed out would have stressed out Mark - so it would not have been a good week leading up to vacay in the Story house!

We have most of our cruise clothes out on the dining room table, and I just have last minute stuff (unmentionables, etc. - wait...since I just mentioned "unmentionables" - does that mean they are now "mentionables")??

OMG - now I'm talking about underwear! :rotfl2:

Door signs are ready to be printed, laminated, and magentized; new books are purchased and NOT ALLOWED TO BE TOUCHED until we get to the airport; camera is charged; but there are still a few loose ends to complete.

Can't wait....:dance3:

Ciao for now... Johnna:woohoo:

Good Evening Fellow Cruisers! :wizard:
Can't believe the time has flown so fast and we are almost there! :boat: I know I haven't posted much but I've been following along as best I can. ;)
This Friday night it's supposed to be a low of 35º :scared1: Dave I'm sure that's still shorts weather for you.. but for us warm blooded Floridians... we'll break out the flannel pjs and parkas!! It will make us appreciate the warm Caribbean even more!

Amen to that, this has been the coldest winter ever in my 15 years in Florida. I just can't take it! My blood is thin. People laugh when the see me in my scarf and mittens. Cold weather and I do not coexist well.

I'm so looking forward to meeting all of you! I can't believe it is just over a week away. And no, I have not started packing either. My DH starts his packing at midnight on the night before we are leaving, it makes me crazy because then he is sleep deprived and cranky on the way to the port.

We have not told are kids yet so hopefully it will work out that they are surprised when we drive up to the port.

Ha!!! My wife does the same thing... the kids and I have our clothes all picked out and ready to pack... she hasn't started -- and we leave TOMORROW!! Drives me friggin' NUTS!! :headache:

I have the door signs all ready to go, passports photocopied, paperwork in order, new rechargeable batteries for both cameras, a power bar to plug everything in, laptop for downloading pix off the cameras... hopefully I haven't forgotten anything.

Dave, I'm with you. I can't stand basketball (or football for that matter), am rather indifferent about hockey (yes, I'm really Canadian), but I am passionate about baseball and I'm glad that training camps are open. I'm hoping to see a spring training game on the boat, if they televise one. :happytv:

Tomorrow is my last day of work then we hit the road!!!

See you on the boat!!

John

Hello all!

It took me THIS long to find this place. Shame on me, especially since I used to be an Assistant Cruise Director on Premier's Big Red Boat back in the day. I spent a lot of time on the Oceanic, Atlantic and a lot of time on the Majestic.

This will be my first cruise since I left Premier in 1995, and our first cruise as a family. My princesses are 5 and 3 and are absolutely beside themselves in anticipation. To say the least, right?! We book just a few weeks ago and are also taking our parents (the grandparents), so it will be a family affair. We also figured since most of the family are first time cruisers, we would go out a bit and are up on Deck 8 in a Cat. 4 - 3 rooms, all in a row. We also did the 7-Day so we got some good ship time in at sea!

I see that a lot of families decorate their doors these days (they didn't on Premier). I know my princesses would LOVE this. How do we get started only a week out and where do we get the things to do this with? We obviously want to make this as special for them as possible (who on the ship doesn't, right?), so we are trying to do all we can. We are going to call Disney and pre-order some things for them to have waiting in the cabin (or are they "staterooms" now? :) ) when we board.

We are also bringing a separate, small suitcase with all their Disney dresses to wear as well. My mom lives in Orlando, so they go to the Magic Kingdom a few times a year and have quite the collection of dresses - of course they LOVE to play dress up!

We are SO looking forward to this cruise and look forward to meeting all of you and creating a lifetime of memories together, and for our families!

welcome aboard, glad you could join us all.:goodvibes.

as for things on the door if you really want to do make stuff for the door you could always be cheap like me and go to a home depot and get the paint chip mickey heads for the door and Magnets on the back of them, that's the only thing we do for the door

I have another question. I know they have a formal night, a semi-formal night, and the rest are cruise casual, correct?

I also heard there is a Pirate Night. Is this true? If so, what is involved?

Welcome! My kids are the same age as yours (DD is 5, DS is 3). Hopefully they'll see each other in the Oceaneer's Club.

Deck 8 is great, I love the extra space in those Cat 4 rooms.

As for decorating the door, if you go to the Design section of this forum, you will find so many talented people there and many designs to choose from. I print mine either on magnet paper (which I ordered from ebay but you can get at Walmart) or heavy photo paper and then put adhesive magnets on the back. Also check this thread:

Pirate night is a lot of fun, many people dress as pirates. My kids have dressed up the last few years but now have outrgown their pirate costumes. They have a pirate themed deck party and fireworks, plus a fabulous dessert buffet. There are photo ops with many of the characters in pirate outfits and Jack Sparrow also.

And yes there is formal and semi-formal (but dressing up is kind of optional) and the rest of the nights are cruise casual.

John are you aware that the Atlanta Braves have their training camp at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex right at WDW. They should have a game or two durring your stay. I plan on going to the one on March 9 after we get back. It is a Braves/Phillies game. I do not like either team, but I really need to get out to the yard.

Wayyyyyy cool!

Fireworks?!?! My kids will absolutely FREAK out! I must find them costumes... uh, me too. We will work on the door stuff this weekend.

This whole thing was last minute. The price was right and we need a family vacation (my dad and 2 brothers just passed), my mom has never been on a cruise, etc. Sorry about the details.

Anyway... Looking to have good times.

Semi and Formal nights are optional? They were on Premiere too, but most dressed. Do most just wear slacks and shirts, or do the majority dress up?

THANK YOU!

First off welcome to the group. Second so sorry to hear about your losses. Third. If it were up to me I would not dress up. Unfortunatly my wife makes me so I do for dinner. Then I run back to the room after dinner and I change back to shorts and a t-shirt. I only do this on formal and Semi Formsl nights. As for the Pirate night I do not do anything as I hate it. The only good thing about it is the food and fireworks. I am not a fan at all of those horable ( my opinion, and I know I am in the minority) movies. The dinner menu is great that night and the buffet is pretty good as well.

Rono, sorry to hear about the passing of your family members. Hopefully this cruise will bring some joy. This is our first cruise and we just booked it a couple weeks ago, so I am totally rushing around at the last minute as well. Picked up some cute pirate costumes online for my kids DD is 9 and DS is 4 and some fun little accessories for DH and I to play along pirate night. I heard that everyone gets a bandana, so you will at least have that if nothing else.

I forgot to thank everyone earlier for their show of support in regards to my DH's military service. It is actually because Disney supports the military so well that we are able to take this cruise. They have an amazing military discount. We leave in 7 days! Cant wait to meet you all!

Hi Everyone!

I've had a great time reading all these posts leading up to our cruise and figured I'd better jump in and say HI before we leave! This will be my first post ever on the dis so I hope it works! ;)

We're a travel party of 3 adults, me - 25 and my Mom (DM) and my Dad (DD). We've been planning this trip since October, we're leaving home on Tuesday, staying overnight at the airport hotel then flying to Orlando on Wednesday where we'll be staying at POP Century for 3 nights before boarding the Magic! I can't wait to get in some time at the parks before relaxing on the cruise! At the end of the cruise we have one more night booked at POP and plan on visiting another park before flying home.

Can't wait to get on the Magic! Only 5 more sleeps 'til our trip starts and only 9 more sleeps til the Cruise! :thumbsup2
