February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

So I get up this morning and it is snowing again! Ugh! We leave on the 25th, doing a couple of days at WDW before the cruise.

We leave right after work Friday before the cruise.
So just about 2 weeks!
I can't wait, I was dreaming about getting to the terminal and boarding yesterday, I am treasuring the wait as well, because once we board time will go waaaay too fast!

Getting to the boat is just part of the fun!

Two weeks from right now I will be enjoying ESPN the weekend at the Hollywood studios. I hope to see Peter Gamons do I can tell him to open his eyes and relize there are 29 other teams in baseball other than the dumb Yankkes. Later that night I am sure my friends and I will be doing some pre cuise drinking.

I stop by to read up on everyone when I have an extra minute - which isn't too often. Reading about people getting their cruise docs gets me more and more excited. Hopefully ours will be here soon.

I think there was a discussion awhile back about getting the pink slip right before vacation.....came to fruition for my DH this week. Third round of layoffs at his company and this time his position was eliminated - and it is really tough for architects to find work. Cross your fingers for us that he will, at the very least, have some solid leads before we leave. We are trying to not let this put *much* of a damper on our trip - but it's tough with all the uncertainty.

Can't wait to see you all soon!

Aww ((((Mary)))) , so sorry to hear the news about your dh's job. Hopefully the mouse and his magic will be just the thing you all need to keep it in perspective and a new and hopefully better opportunity is just a heartbeat away.

DH says he would love love love for the space shuttle to launch while we are on port. He has been wanting to see one go up for ages, he actually was an intern at NASA back in the day when the space program was put on hold and that was one of the things he was most disappointed about.

They keep postponing the launch for February, so I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for incredible luck so we coincide with it!

Hi guys, have to chime in quick.... I just heard on MSNBC that they have put off the launch until at least Feb. 27th!!! Hey maybe it will happen for us. One cruise, I think it was our 2006 (because Rachel was our CD- so it helps me remember) the Capt. actually held the ship and put off the life boat drill so we could watch the lauch. The view from PC is awesome... The sad news was the entire crew was out there and the Space Shuttle ready to go; we were up on deck 9 waiting and they decided no to launch due to the wind. So if they decide to do it on Saturday, we will try to make it to the area for the launch, so we will see some of you..... We will make it our point. So let's keep each other posted... I am just catching up, so I need to go read...

Even though we are doing the world guys, I am such a cruise junkie I am I will not be boarding with you... This one is for the family though..... So BJ be sure to hold your glass up for me.... Each of you need to jugg a Bushwacker for me... Johnna is paying for all the ones done in my honor. Donna, wear some jeans in honor of me, Wanda only stick to your photo package "No Tink". Johnna, be sure to do a mad Gloria Gaynor, Ron be sure to let them You Tube your Village people act for me, Vanessa cheers for me, John BE SURE to honor that Tink Family clock... Thanks for taking one for me..... Love you for that.... Good think you do not have to do early Customs in St.Thomas. Last cruise we were late (only a little) & when they made announcements of the families that were holding the ship everyone assumed it was the Tink Family! So with John's Family we now have partners in crime for the next cruise... When we go back with you we can have a time zone all to ourselves. I am getting excited for you.... Be sure to come back and let me know when you are cruising all so that we can catch up with you......

I have never requested a server before, but know that some do...and yes you are right, a good severe can make a HUGE difference!!!
I yet to have one that brings me MORE food than I ordered, if I knew if a server who did that I would SO be requesting him/her!!!LOL

Yes you can request a server, but they usually try to honor it more if you tell them you have had them before. I will be honest, they are ALL mostly good on the Magic. The Wonder is a different story. I think because in the Wonder they do not have a long to build relationships with the guest, so the service is different. So you are in good hands.

As far a BJ goes, everyone WATCH the turkey legs, she will grab them out of your hand.... No JK, I loooovvve to eat with her, just watch the camera Lady Story because she will take pictures as you eat... You have to tell her to show you the one of DH with the "baby spoon". Oh BJ, be sure to book again with us....

Hi Everyone... just got back from London and the pub crawl... totally knackered, BUT I had an idea... we should do a pub crawl on the ship one night! Every bar... 1 drink, 45 minutes, move on. Details to come.

I was sitting on the plane earlier thinking...OMG... at this time next week we'll be getting on the ship! SOOOOO excited.

One of my baby puppies started her heat... ugh! That means a funny diaper thing and she walks so funny. I hope the dog sitter won't mind cuz as soon as Clio is done I am sure Chloé will start.

So... off to iron and start packing. Tomorrow is my last full free day to get everything done so I better get motivated! I just packed the thing for the kids... (whistles for sailaway and for early morning wake up calls) he he he

I really hope we get to see the shuttle go up, DH was commenting about how they want to stop launching them and go back to rockets. I sort of understand because he says a bunch of the technology on board is so old it is really ridiculous, but at least they could work on another type of transport right?

Well I hope the launch goes on the 28th at around, oh 4:30ish. Still, since it was brought up, I am so disappointed with NASA. These are some of the smartest people on the planet and they could not design a new reusable space craft. Back to a rocket type thing. So disappointing. 2 weeks from right now I will be going back to my cabin for a nap, unless the launch is around 3:00.

He gets sooo ticked when he thinks about all the mess ups they have gone through over the years and the fact that they won't even work on a new transport, like the suborbital vessel from Virgin Galactic. He enjoyed interning with them, but said he would never work for them unless they did an overhaul of their engineering dept.

If I was given the opportunity of going out on a shuttle right now I'd say uh... no thanks?

Funny you say that... it reminded me of an interesting story I heard on NPR a while back about the brain drain at NASA and what a terrible job they have done at keeping information accessable.

Also, one of the greatest things I remember about growing up in Central Florida was watching the shuttle launches. Regardless of where you are, you can see the shuttle's trail as it heads skyward. Night launches were AWESOME...especially as we lived at the lake and the reflection on the water was impressive! The worst though, was during my senior year in high school, during lunch, when we were watching the Challenger clime higher and higher... than those odd clouds...and coming back in to school to hear what had happened. Sad day. Another super memory also included a cruise. We were on the Big Red Boat (I think the Atlantic) when the shuttle was being returned from Andrews on the back of a plane.... it flew right over the ship as we were gearing up for our sail away party. You felt like you could reach out and touch it, it was so close. I hope hope hope that we get to see it and that they do it on the 28th!

Well, finally have a minute to post an update about my MIL. We brought her home from the hospital yesterday and she is doing very well. They did run some tests for congestive heart failure but they came back good. While the doctor said he couldn't rule out a heart problem with 100% certainty, he felt that her shortness of breath was caused mostly by her bronchitis/pneumonia. So, hopefully, she will continue to improve and not have any more problems for a long time.

Ooooohhh! To see a space shuttle launch that close would be awesome! We saw a rocket launch from Cocoa Beach the night before our first cruise in 2004. And, once right after our plane landed at MCO, the pilot had us look out the window to see a space shuttle go up. Last year while at WDW, we saw another space shuttle launch from the beach at the Y&BC resort. We were excited each time but to see the space shuttle launch while onboard the Magic would be...well...MAGICAL!!!!

Tink--I will proudly wear my jeans in your honor!!!!!!! I'm am so, so sad that I won't get to meet you and your family in person!!! But, maybe another time.....

Great news on your MIL!
I am glad she is progressing better and that her heart seems to be doing well.

I finished our door magnets yesterday, found some cheap laminating sheets and magnets at walmart and now our decorations are all set. We also worked on our packing list Friday night.

We went out for a nice sushi dinner yesterday, it was wonderful, and how romantic and fun it was to find our Disney Weddings info package on the mail when we got back!

I am watching the DVD in a bit, working out and then getting ready to watch Coraline in 3D.

Disney has been sending us a bunch of mail lately, we also got a request to do an Annual Passholder survey on the mail on Friday, it didn't say much, they are just trying to pin point what their core visitors do and how often we go and the reason why. I wish they'd send us a pin already!

Less than two weeks now! I am a bit nervous about dining with strangers, I always am because I am shy. Anybody has any good ice breaker ideas for table mates? Oh dear... do I want to know what Dave thinks is a good ice breaker?
