February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

I get the whole neighbor thing, just I picked my room for a reason. I think DCL should contact people before they change your room. Some of us pick rooms for a reason. If I wanted a bigger room I would have booked it.

I'll tell him to save some for you guys!
But try to get there quick cause I don't know how long I'll be able to hold him back! He's a slippery feller when it comes to alcohol! Once I lose my grip on him, he's off and running! :rotfl:

Oh and would you guys know if we can rent a tux when we get on board or will it be better to call ahead?

http://www.cruiselineformal.com/

This is who we have used in the past and it works out great!!!!! Your DH tux will be in the room waiting for him, and at the end of the week you just leave it in the room. Your Stateroom host will take care of it. On our first cruise I can't remember what was wrong with the fit, but they had to do some altering... our Stateroom Host made a call and in no time at all we had a lady come up to our room do some measuring pinning etc..and before the night was over it showed up back in our room ready to go...just that easy!!!!

I have been thinking that I need to get this ordered!!!!!! Thanks for the little reminder;)

and one other quick note....up at Paradise Point, they made a pretty yummy Virgin Pina Colada and I think you can get a Virgin Bushwacker as well!!!!

OOH pina coladas!!
GOOD CALL! i think i'll get me one of those!

and thank you very much for the tux link!

Yay for upgrades!!!

We are very happy with our verandah, I can't wait to see it all.

Enter long winded story of the two dresses, skip if you have heard this one before.

I have a floor length dress and a cocktail dress. I am not a dress girl most of the time, but this year DH was on my brother in law's wedding, and they were wearing tuxes, so I bought the first cocktail dress because it still was a day wedding.

Fast forward, the wedding gets closer and we have a scheduled stop at WDW in our way down to Miami area. I catch a killer cold days before going down, I try my best to treat it, and seems to be getting a bit better. We take off and 30 mins away from WDW DH asks me if I remembered to pack my dress. I am running a slight fever, and I think he is just pulling my leg, since he was the one doing the packing while I was under the heavy influence of nyquil, so I laugh it off... nervously :hyper: .

Well... he wasn't joking, he "forgot" the dress as in: He thought I would go into the closet at the very last minute and retrieve it... :scratchin  :lmao: yeah... it is funny now, but believe you me, my fever suddenly spiked and I was a crying near hysterical mess. :scared:

Finding clothes that fit properly for me is a near mission impossible, we took a detour into the shopping outlets, I was sweating so much, it looked like I had stepped in from the rain when it was sunny and beautiful outside. I was in no mood of trying things out, I was dizzy, tired, sore all over, had a runny nose and looked like death warmed over.

We stopped at around 6 stores and had zero luck, went to the PopCentury and checked in. I was so sad and frustrated I just passed out.

The next day DH was still extremely apologetic  he called my sister in law, my friends, and everybody told him he was lucky I was sick enough so i didn't have any energy to kill him :lmao: and if he didn't find me a dress, they'd kill him for me instead.

Anyway, we drove the rest of the way to Dade County, got checked into the hotel there, and told my brothers in law we were off to buy a dress. They insisted on tagging along... and while we were at it, they wanted to go pick up the rings and the tuxes with the other grooms men. GAH! :crazy2:

Picture this: I am sick, tired, still rather frustrated :scared: and here comes team grooms men in full force. After running their errands we finally made it to the mall... me... DH... and 10 other guys... Juuuust what I needed... 10 guys to wait on me while I try and find something to wear. And of course they are having a grand time, they are boys and they are all hanging around.

Finally we manage to loose them by asking them if they are hungry. They are ALWAYS hungry, so we send them off to Pollo Tropical... THANK YOU Pollo tropical!

After another 2 hours (compounded to the prior 4 with my posse), we find a floor length dress. :cool1:

And that is the long story of how I ended up with 2 dresses. Tah dah!

:rotfl2: I know it wasn't funny at the time but that sounds like something that would happen to me! On the bright side, now you have a dress for formal night and semi-formal.

Johnna and Brenda...That is WONDERFUL news about being upgraded and now being neighbors. And Congrats to you too, John, on the refund!!! Bushwacker Central and who is picking up the bar tab...I'm glad that's settled.

We didn't get an upgrade but I'm happy with our SPH room as we had one on our last cruise. As for formal night, I am wearing the dress I wore in my son's wedding and DH will wear a suit. On semi-formal night, I'm planning on wearing a red sequined top and cocktail pants and DH will either wear a shirt and tie or his suit.

Dave..Have fun on your trip this weekend! In the meantime, don't work tooooo hard!! :thumbsup2

TTYL!

When I told it to my co-workers they thought it was a riot. In retrospect it looks like an episode from a sitcom. All in all DH has learnt to make sure he has everything he needs before he leaves the house, overall if I am totally out of it. :rotfl2:

Has anyone done the Skyride thingy on St. Thomas?
I was looking into that one and then I read that at the restaurant at the top they have a bar that serves Bushwackers.
My hubby wants to do go there and take pictures from the top and he said he's gonna load up on Bushwackers.
I get to watch him and drool.

We did this the last time in St Thomas and enjoyed it. There are trails to walk around on top as well as the spectacular view. Then of course there are the bushwackers as you have already heard. This was the trip while I was pregnant and I did share a couple sips.

Has anyone else done anything about St Croix yet????? The Disney Magic is there again this week..so hopefully we will hear some positive reports!!!!:thumbsup2

We have decided to bpok thewest end highlights tour. Not my first choice with a 5 and 1 year old but DH really wants to go to the rum distillary. Afterwards we will check out Rainbow beach near the port. It doesn't sound like paradise but it's where the locals go so it can't be bad right?

OK guys I have a newbie question.
DH and I would LOVE to do the behind the scenes tour and the galley tour (are they the same?), DH never gets to go on these tours with me, last time I did the innovation in action alone since he was busy working in a conference at WDW, and I felt very sad he couldn't enjoy it with me.

I would like to know (with all detail, please :p ) the how, when and wheres to get tickets for these activities, and also the martini tasters and the art of entertainment. I am sure there is info out there, but I have either forgotten all about it  or I didn't find the whole instructions :coffee: .

Hey... does anyone know why Donna did it? I'd be embarassed if it were me... but I suppose to each his own. Is she out yet?

We have this tour booked too! I wanted to go horseback riding but didn't want to deal with booking all the arrangements on my own. I've booked excursions on my own before without any problems but it doesn't sound like St. Croix is used to dealing with cruise ship passengers yet.

Check out the Navigators from previous cruises. They will tell you where to go to sign up for an activity, if you need to. Here is a link to the newest ones on The Dis. http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/DCL-Navigators/1-17-09-DM/index.htm

Hi Everyone..... After coming here and having a few PMs; I need to apologize... I have been reminded I did not formally let everyone here know what was going on with the Tink family..... Last month we decided to move this reservation to another date. My DH still was a little sad about our last cruise and we decided that we will just do "The World" instead. It will save us money and maybe Florida and "The World's Magic" will make him want to get back to the Ship Magic. So as long as DCL has $2,000 of our money I know we will still cruise with them. We sat down as a family and the kids actually said they did not care if we went or not.... When this was said, we decided to give them more than a year off and maybe when we go back it will be "Magical" again... I actually like crying as I walk through the ears or see the terminal.:lmao: So I will be thinking of you guys.... To my past cruisemates I will think of you and let me know as soon as you get back if you rebook on the ship.... I was a little sad :sad1: and think this is the reason I had not come back to the thread; but I realize I was sad not because of moving the cruise- I was sad because I was not going with most of you..... I am excited for you, especially you first timers.... Lady Story & BJ will take very good care of you. Have a Bushwacker or two or three what the heck have them until you get drunk for me..... :upsidedow :p Tell Capt. Tom and Christiian hello from Minnesota and think of me as you watch Disney Dreams and see Tink..... I will lurk here especially once we get back... Donna, Wanda & Vanessa I am oh so sad..... I promise to catch up with you on another one.... Hey BJ, grab a few crab claws at Palos for me and if you see a Whale or Dolphin this time you have to toast to me.... ::yes:: Lady Story.... I know "You will Survive." I will have DH get his outfit ready for the next show....:wave2:

as long as we're sharing... popcorn::

A few years back, I was going to my cousin's "black tie optional" wedding; now mind you, this is a big NY wedding in some swanky place in Brooklyn, and my other cousin is borrowing her friend's VERA WANG dress. So I've got to keep up of course.

I go to this boutique in Georgetown and get a nice dress that I really like, fits well, comfortable, etc. My favorite thing about it was the back - it was lacy and had a pink trail of lace flowers across the back. (I don't explain it well - just know it was pretty!)

Day of wedding - I'm getting dressed at my mom's house in NJ, and my SIL can't get my dress zipper zipped. NOT due to fit, but because the zipper was stuck. This didn't happen when I tried it on (of course!) So after about 5 minutes, she finally gets it, and off we go.

Driving about 10 minutes down the NJ Turnpike toward the Lincoln Tunnel, I feel a weird draft on my left side and look down - my zipper has completely split apart!!! :scared1: There was no fixing this thing with safety pins... it was a complete "wardrobe malfunction" (to coin a phrase). :upsidedow

So...we are near Secaucus - the outlet captial of NJ - so I make my brother pull over at the nearest mall; I told my brother and mother to drop off me, SIL and sister to shop, and task mother and brother with finding a liquor store - I'm VERY stressed out. Wearing my ripped-zipper dress, with my brother's suit jacket over it, I need to now find a dress in my size that I like and is not too expensive, AND matches the shoes and purse I'm using, all in the span of about 15 minutes so we're not late for the wedding. We still have to get from NJ to Brooklyn -driving through NYC. Talk about pressure...

Luckily, I find a store just inside the mall that has a nice black floor length gown, with some beading detail. About $130. My size. Perfect - I wear it out of the store.

We go back out to the car and brother and mother have FAILED on their mission; actually, my mom wouldn't let my brother buy liquor since it's against the law to have open containers in a moving vehicle, or some such nonsense. I think that there are exeptions to every rule, and this certainly qualified.

This from my mom, who has about two drinks a year - either a "brandy alexander" or a white wine spritzer (neither of which qualify as real drinks in my mind).

So... we make it to the wedding on time (you should see my brother drive!), very stressed out and very SOBER! But I of course make up for that as soon as the ceremony ends. I'm the first one at the bar!! And now I have my very own "wardrobe malfunction" story - not quite rivaling Janet Jackson's, but still...

And of course, the Georgtown boutique doesn't take returns. :sad2:

I think I've taken up my post quota for the day with this.
Ciao for now... Johnna :wave2:

WE'LL MISS YOU TINK!! :sad1:

It took me so long to type my last post, that I didn't even realize you posted.

I will certainly take one for the TINK and have a few bushwhackers in your honor. And we'll share pix -don't you worry about that.

Have a great time at "The World" and I know some joint Magic is in our future. :goodvibes We'll let you know when.

Ciao bella... keep tabs on us. ;)

DAVE hears voices in his head that no one else hears.

shhh....it must be some of that German food

:lmao: :rotfl2:
