February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

Alan,

I live and die with the Red Sox, but we have been exorcised of a team cancer -- one by the name of Manny Ramirez. He'll look good in Dodger Blue for the rest of the season and will put up big numbers, but I promise you he will be playing for a New York team next year.

Good luck watching "Manny Being Manny."

Mark,
When the news broke, the first two things I said were "Who did we give up?" and "He will be playing for us for only two months , hopefully three months". So it would not suprise me at all if he is not on the team next year. The thing that makes me happy is the Red Sox are paying him and we only gave up one guy.

That is a small world. I hear you about the strong drink, I hope to have a few a night. I don't know if we can drink together as my two friends are big Red Sox fans and the only team I hate more than the Yankkees is the Giants. Well it will be basketball season so I guess we can drink a few together.

Ha ha! I think I'm gonna have MORE than a few drinks a night!! :woohoo:
And you know what, I hate the Giants too and I pretty much always have. Even though I'm a Yankee fan, I spent most of my childhood here in So Cal so I grew up going to Dodger and Angel games. Mostly Dodgers games though. I work with two DIE HARD Dodger fans too and one of them went to the game on Friday.
I also grew up with Laker fans! My big brother is a HUGE Laker fan (he's the kinda fan that YELLS at the TV) and I became a Laker fan cause of him. I don't follow basketball as much as I follow baseball and football though, but I love it all the same! :cheer2:

Vanessa - I did get your email but haven't had a chance to update the cruise spreadsheet for you. I promise to do it next week before I leave for the final vacation of the summer in Cape Cod. It's been a busy summer but well worth all the packing and unpacking, and laundry, and packing, and unpacking and laundry, and ... well, you get the idea.

Ciao for now... Johnna

Hi Johnna!

Thanks for keeping me updated on the cruise spreadsheet.
I shall wait patiently! ;)
Enjoy your trip to Cape Cod!!

I too was at the game Friday, but got my tickets before the trade as I saw the pitching match up on the Monday before the trade and got the tickets on Tuesday. I guess that was a special bonus. The thing that kills me is that we have had Andruw Jones for 111 games (as of the writing of this post) and has two Home Runs. Manny has been with them for 3 games and has two home runs. Well ness you will fit in good with my two friends if you come out at night to go drinking, looking forward to it.

I saw that! Manny's been with you guys for 3 games and has been connecting with that ball like crazy! I asked my co worker Tom how he likes having Manny and he smiled at me and said "I like it! It's good!"

I look forward to meeting you guys! Definitely gotta get our drink on!

Basketball is during this cruise, so you all will hear me scream at the tv if I see any basketball games. I always am screaming here, if Mavericks or Celtics are playing don't come near me i scream louder because I hat those teams, Mavericks because Jason Kidd and the way he went and got traded and Celtics, well because they are the Celtics. If Nets, Suns, Hornets, Magic or Lakers are playing and winning I'm happy

Hi
Just a question to any other Canadians on this sailing.. where are you all from and is this your first cruise with Disney? This will be our first with a kiddo and on Disney, we have been on 2 other cruises sans kids with Princess both the Eastern and Western.
We are from the Calgary area, and our dd will be 4.5 at the time of sailing.
We are glad to get to know everyone, but it would be nice to meet some others from "north of the border"!!
Looking forward to knowing you all!

Welcome! We are from your neck of the woods, only a bit more north (Cold Lake), and will be cruising with my brother and two sisters and their families from New Brunswick and Maine. 14 of us in total :cool1: :grouphug:

This is also our first cruise as a family (DW did the Alaska thing when she was single), and our kids are wired. DD will be 7 and DS will be 10 at cruise time.

Mark, you definitely got the better deal IMHO... Jason Bay brings a great bat and much better defense than Manny. Now you just gotta catch those pesky Rays...;)

Hi
We are Canadian, so sorry to all of you who are talking sports, I have no clue :confused3 who the sports teams are that you all are talking about.
I do watch Canadian Football, and no longer live in Saskatchewan, but I do still cheer :cool1: for my home team the Sask Roughriders of the Canadian football league!

Hello to a fellow Canadian!

This is our family's 2nd Disney cruise, we did the Western cruise in Feb '08. Our son will be almost 6 at time of sailing, our daughter will be 8. Where exactly are you from (Calgary area)? We are from Edmonton. We have just returned from 2 exhausting, but very fun, weeks of camping in the Kootenay Mountains. While we were away, we picked up a puppy (this had all been pre-arranged with the breeder, I'm not that spontaneous!), so for the second week of our vacation I was up 3 times a night letting the dog out, cleaning up "accidents", and trying to "walk" him around the campground. However, he is very sweet and very cute, so it made it all worthwhile. But--it's good to be home!

I also know nothing about sports, so don't (or simply can't :confused3 ) participate in those conversations. Now, the parts of the conversations about drinking, well I can relate to that.....

Carolyn

Hi John,

My husband's family are from Pierceland, Saskatchewan (just across the border from you). In fact, about 10 of my in-laws are camping at Pierce Lake right now. Are you familiar with that area?

Carolyn

I think I have been to Pierceland twice in the 15 years I have been here, and passed by it a few more times heading east. I have never camped at Pierce Lake, but have a general idea where it is.

Question: How are you getting to Orlando for the cruise? We are flying out of Calgary on the 27th, but don't know timings yet as the bookings were made thru DU.

We booked directly through Disney Cruise Line. Last February we flew Edmonton-Toronto-Orlando, also arrived the day prior to the cruise. I assume we will fly this route again, but they don't release any flight information until 30 days prior to departure.

I totaly disagree. We do not pay Manny the Red Sox do. We gave up nothing got a great player and we do not owe him a dime.

So, what date are you flying down to Florida prior to the cruise? Where are you staying?

DH and I are trying to decide if we want to fly down on Thursday 2/26 or Friday 2/27. If we go down on Thursday, we'll stay at WDW. If we go on Friday, we'll just rent a car and go on over to Cocoa Beach. If we go on Friday, we'll spend a couple of days at WDW after the cruise.

Anyone else going to WDW after the cruise?

Donna

My Dad and I are flying down from NJ on the 20th, going on the cruise before this, then the day this cruise ends we will be flying home. We might go to disney world the day before the western cruise so we can go to downtown disney just to go to something disney

If we stay true to prior pattern, we'll fly down on Thursday prior, stay in Cocoa Beach at the Residence Inn, then fly back right after the cruise. I have a feeling we will put WDW off until winter of 2009; DD would be too difficult until she's at least six - and even then... I'm not too sure it would be any better. :rotfl:

We are flying in on 2/26. Going to stay at WDW Riverside, then after we will be staying there two nights as well.

Good Morning fellow cruisemates :)

Although we have not made any reservations yet...we are planning on flying into Orlando on Fri...then renting a car @ airport and driving to Port Canaveral and staying @ The Raddison, the girls love the pool and we love the pool bar LOL!!!!!!

Sat. morning Ron will drive the girls and I to the port (along with ALL the luggage) and then he will take the rental car back and catch the shuttle back to the port...we did this last March and it worked out great!!! It is less than a 10 minute (easy) drive from the port to Budget...and is much easier for 1 person with no luggage to catch the shuttle back than 4 of us with LOTS of luggage :thumbsup2

Our first cruise I was worried about spliting up like that, so we stayed together and all toke the shuttle from budget to the port...that was pretty hetic..as there happened to be a ship that came in that morning...so not only were people standing in line (a LONG one at that) to return their car, there was people standing in line to pick up a car...If I remember right, we were there at least 1 hour!!!!! and that was to just return a car and catch the shuttle...

Last year by the time Ron came back, (we try to get to the terminal right at 10:00, to avoid the lines) I had us checked in and ready to go!!!!! all he needs to get into the terminal is his drivers license...

You know what they say...live and learn!!!!!:thumbsup2

Hi all!! :wave2:

My familia and I are gonna be flying in the day before the cruise and are staying at the Hyatt.
I have no idea where it's at but I heard it's close to the airport then we're hoppin on the Disney shuttle the next day to Port Canaveral.

Does anyone know how far the Hyatt is from the port? And has anyone gotten really sea sick? That's the only thing I'm really worried about.:worried: I get car sick pretty easily and sometimes resort to hanging my head out the window like a dog.
I was gonna bring a duffle bag full of Dramamine just in case.

OH! And I have one more question, has anyone found that underwater Mickey statue in the snorkeling area at Castaway Cay? I saw that picture in the brochure book and I want to find it!
