February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

Just wanted you to be aware with Packing
That most airlines have weight & size limits for suitcases
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
American's is as follows
Dimensions, Weight and Number of Pieces
For flights wholly within the United States and between the United States and Canada
The maximum amount of baggage each ticketed passenger is allowed free of charge is:
• 2 pieces checked and one carry-on
The size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside dimensions of each bag, that is, length + width + height.
• Two checked bags at 62 in/157 cm each
• One carry-on bag at 45 in/114 cm
The maximum weight per checked bag is 50 lbs/23 kgs.
The maximum weight per carry-on bag is 40 lbs/18 kgs.
Overweight Baggage
• For travel within the 50 United States and between the 50 United States and Canada, checked baggage weighing over 50 lbs/23 kgs but not more than 70 lbs/32 kgs will be charged at the rate of $25 per piece.
• For travel within the 50 United States and between the 50 United States and Canada, checked baggage weighing over 70lbs/32 kgs but not more than 100 lbs/45 kgs will be charged at the rate of $50 per piece.
Moira, I looked at the floor plan for baggage claim at Orlando and it looks like one big room. I propose that we meet quickly in the middle if we both land on time.
Hi Kathy!
That sounds great! :thumbsup2 DH says that our flight is scheduled for a 6pm arrival, so we should definitely meet up if our planes arrive on time(hoping for no snow delays!!)!! :banana:
I will be wearing my Mickey head pin on my sweater (or jersey if I feel I don't need a sweater in Florida!! :sunny: ). Just look for the very frazzled woman chasing a little girl around and yelling, "Molly, you have to stay with Mama!!" :rotfl2: Ugh, flying with kids is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO stressful! :faint:
See you in a few days!! :woohoo:
When we first got off the ship in the morning, the prices were high and no one seemed interested in negotiating. I came back later in the day about an hour before the three ships in port would be leaving and the prices were dramatically lower and the shopping area was much less crowded than it had been in the morning.
Thanks for posting those great tips,Sally!! I know in my excitement of being in a new vacation spot I am going to want to get some souveniers, and what a great tip to save money!! :thumbsup2 Hmmm. Never haggled in my life, so this ought to be an interesting day. :rolleyes:
A question for our veterans regarding the kids' club...anyone have any idea how they keep track of the kids when they take them out of the clubs? Like dinner or movies? What policies are in place to make sure no one wanders away? Are there x amount of kids assigned to each counsellor on outings, etc? My 4 year old, like most I'm sure, can be easily distracted when he sees something of interest! LOL
Thanks,
Melanie
Thanks for the info Rick!
Well we started packing yesterday, it was great .....I got to argue with DH last night instead of the night before travel when I'm reaaaaallllly stressed :headache: :rotfl2:
Kim, I, too, am having a hard time with the shoes thing. It was painful not to pack 3 more pairs!
I'm looking for those pirate beads today, wish me luck.
Sally, we only need one tiara for DD, I surely don't need one. If we do have one left over we'll use it for the queen of the ZuluDIs parade! :sunny: I mean we are having a ZuluDIS parade, right??? :hyper:
Wolfgang Vault
Wolfgang was Bill Graham, the man whose genius for bringing performer and audience together shaped the rock concert as we have come to know it. Born Wolfgang Grajonca in Berlin in 1931, he escaped Nazi Germany to grow up in a foster home in the Bronx and anglicized his name at the age of 18. Bill Graham, who would come to be known as the midwife of the modern rock concert, was smart and forward-thinking, an opportunist and a listener, fair and ferociously demanding, and he remembered his roots: in the 1980s he opened a small San Francisco club and named it Wolfgang's.
Hey Jeff, I do believe they have karoake. Just checked the 7 day Navigators from January, and Karoake is offered on 3 different days. Family Karoake day 1- 9:45pm- Studio Sea, That can get kinda funny when all the kids get to pick their own song, but then again they all pick the same song so you get different versions. Day 2 is Disney Karoake 7:45pm- Rockin Bar D. Then again Family Karoake at 10:30pm- Studio Sea.
See you Saturday..
Hi Melanie,
The CMs are very good at keeping everyone together. For the 3-4 group, they have extra CMs (1:15 ratio I believe). Most of the time, the 3-4 group is only in the club. They even eat their meals in the club (instead of going up to Topsiders). They show the evening movies in the club as well. The few times they do transition, the CMs take them down dedicated cooridors and keep them in manageable groups.
Thanks so much, Rick. I think we are going to ask that they allow our 4 year old (who is actually 4 years 9 months) to be moved up to the 5-7 year olds with our 7 year old (I should have clarified that in my OP) I had read in some other threads that as long as there's room and he's mature enough that will probably be fine. I noticed on the navigators that there were a couple of trips out of the clubs and was just curious. I know that my older one will keep a little bit of an eye on his brother, but was just curious what their protocol is.
Thanks, Melanie! I have been wondering about that.
I am confused about the Costa Maya thing. Here it says all ashore at 10:00 a.m. http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/DCL-Navigator-Western-Jan/pages/Day_5-1.htm It's farther away than Cozumel, so I am surprised to hear we will be there earlier. That would be nice.
I totally agree.... I was thinking the same exact thing... in fact I notified my tour guide place and told them that and they responded and told ME we would be in port earlier... so I guess I am not going to worry about it too much. Do hope we can get some beach time.
Also, as far as the movies go.... the new one that is coming out....Fri? about the dog? (I know, I should KNOW this Disney movie, but I have not had ONE chance to watch tv or anything... do you guys know what movie I am talking about? ) My BIL said if it is in the theaters it is on the ship... so does that mean Fri that movie will be on the ship also? BIL really wants to see it and is expecting to be able to on the ship. I hate to burst his bubble!
Don't even let me be one of that bunch, unless you want to clear out the room :grouphug:
The Shaggy Dog with Tim Allen. That was actually the main reason for my calling DCL to ask them. I was hoping it would be b/c everyone here wants to see it too. She said that was the complete list they have at this time - so maybe we'll get a pleasant surprise on board, but I'm not counting on it.
The movie we were hoping to see is Eight Below, with the sled dogs. I called Disney last week and they said they like to do the new releases on the ships so it is a possibility that this would be shown. I hope so.
We leave on Thursday at 2:55 pm and it cannot come soon enough. We are flying into Tampa due to the large cost difference in airfare,$250 per person, and renting a car for $50 and driving across. We figured that since we are there 2 days early it wouldn't matter. When we return the flight isn't until 7 pm so we have a lot of time to get back to Tampa.
Can't wait to meet you all, my DD Kaitie has been chatting with a lot of nice girls this last week so at least they will all know each other. They were smart and exchanged pictures so they have more of an idea what each other look like
Have a great day, I'm off of work for President's Day so it is a great one for me. I am getting the rest of our supplies and starting to pack.
Judy:wave: party:
Can you get bottles of water at the drink station (on whatever deck that's on - LOL!) or is it just filling cups of water? If bottles, what does it cost per bottle?
Last time we were on board "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" debuted in theaters. Therefore it debuted on the boat as well. I clearly remember this night as we went to the show, my older daughter went to the club, and my DH and DB left the ship to go back to St Marteen for drinks and fun. When I was paged in the theater I naturally assumed that my daughter was ready to leave the club. The pager read "call guest services". No, they were not calling to tell me that my daughter was ready to leave the club, they were calling to tell me that as of 9:27 (all aboard time of 9:30) my DH and DB had not yet returned to the ship! Made for a lovely evening, and I still have never seen the end of that movie!
