Each ship can make 1,200 tons or 5000,000 gallons of fresh water from seawater each day -- that's enough glasses of water for everyone in Chicago and Houston combined.
Hope you like that answer.. well off to work and cant wait till this week is over and the Cruise starts

From another Jeff...... :cool1:

thanks Jeff.... at least i'll remember your name :teeth:

Yes, and a good thing to remember, the water in the bathroom sinks are not as filtered as water for drinking. So when you fill your water bottles, go to
the drink station to do so. :)

Some more questions:

Bahamas Form - This is used becasue Castaway Cay is in the Bahamas. In section 1, you need to fill out name, passport number (if you have one), birthdate, and address. Also, check arriving by Discovery Cruises/Ferry/Other Ship. Put the date of arrival as 03/03/06 and put "PC" as where you boarded the ship. In section 2, list your TA and their city. Also put "1" for number of nights, check the "other" box and list the "Disney Magic" as the hotel name. Everyone in the group needs to fill out a form (including children).

Other docs - You only have to fill out the minor authorization form if you are travelling with kids without their parents. The payment authorization form is the official signature form the KTTW charges. The embarkation form is to list an emergency contact. Finnaly, everyone must sign the cruise contract form.

Rick

EXCELLENT INFO!!! Thanks Rick!!! I believe our travel agent only gave us 1 form though for the Bahamas. Will they have more onboard?

Have any of you ever been on a Hawaiian cruise? :flower1: If so.. do tell :)

I so want to go on one in the next couple of years. I wish Disney went there.. that would be perfect!!

Yes, they will have more forms to fill out at the port. Before you get into line to check-in, a CM will check your paperwork to ensure that it is all in order.

Afternoon everyone! Just got back from shopping, now for some packing and more shopping. I have a couple questions, I don't remember this stuff from the last cruise.

What is the amount of tolls from Orlando airport to Cocoa Beach?

How much does it cost to use the washer/dryers onboard?

I bring detergent and pack dryer sheets in my luggage to keep clothes fresh and then use them later in the week in the dryers.

I will have DD email here pals today, she hasn't been online for awhile.

I didn't realize there is a Kids Boards

Susanne (Eddys' alter ego)

PS Nice signs Jeff and thanks for the pics-made me want to get out of this 13 degree weather even more

I thought I read on a different thread that you can get a Disney excuse form for school. Nothing else was specified about it. Has anyone ever heard of or used one of these? I need to write an excuse for my DD8 for school and could use some ideas on how to make the trip educational. I will include geography and cultural differences on the form. Any other advice?
Thanks,
Crissy

Hi to all,

I have been reading the recent posts. Thanks to Rick for the helpful information about the Bahama forms.

I am so ready to leave this cold weather. This morning it was 20 degrees, with a wind chill bringing the temperature to 9 degrees. While that is not cold to some of you on this board, it is really cold for our area. It is supposed to warm up later in the week, and the forecast for Saturday is partly cloudy, and should be in high 30s or low 40s when we leave. Of course, we have to leave for the airport about 6:15 am, as our flight is at 8:15 am. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the airport that early on Saturday. Not so during the week.

Got one door sign finished last night and will do the other one tonight. I managed to mess up two of the name tags, so will have to go tomorrow and get some more from Home Depot.

In our newspaper this morning, the travel section had this interesting tidbit: Top 10 Cruise Ships

1. Radisson Seven Seas Mariner
2. Disney Magic
3. Royal caribbean's Navigator of the Sea
4. MSC Opera
5. Norwegian Jewel
6. Tahitian Princess
7. Disney Wonder
8. Sea Princess
9. Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas
10. Celebrity Constellation

The source cited was Cruiser's Choice poll.
Not one Carnivale ship is listed.

Looks like Magic should be a good ship to cruise on.

Got a few things to finish up before we leave, but hope to have everything done by Wednesday, except for laundry. :wizard:

Kim, thanks for the update on the spreadsheet. Rick, thanks for the information about getting ice. All information is greatly appreciated.

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you once we get to the ship. Time will probably creep by until Saturday, and then fly by once we are on the cruise.

"Sea" you soon. Leta pixiedust:

The list is coming right along.
GDUL - I still don't have your email so I don't want you to think I've been avoiding you. ;)

Those pool are fresh water. I do believe they're the only ship in the industry with fresh water, not salt. That is another reason we sail DCL. At least my hair doesn't get yucky. I love the beach but not the salt water.

We got beads today, we got beads today... and pirate patches.... and I have bubbles. I am soooo stoked!

I also had to brow beat Josh into letting me measure up the pants for hemming. It was the high point of his morning. I know I'm going to pack too much. I just can't settle on the shoes though! :Pinkbounc I know, typical woman problem.

Rick - thanks for that new info on the KTTW card. Spending allowances are a great idea anyway. We had the talk (not that talk!) this morning and have agreed to grant privilidges. What is it with those games in Quartermasters? It should be called steal-your-quarters-masters! Each game is between .75 and 1.00. Ahh, I hate those machines. I won't even go inside!

Oh, last trip they had 2 for 1 Marguaritas on Cozumel day. I opted for the fruity drink. Joshua had the non-alchololic drink in the glass. By the way - I have three at home! LOL I can't remember if we were supposed to take them but I remember they make great planters!

Susanne,

1. The tolls are $1.25 from the airport to the port (only one toll booth). If you are coming from west of the airport, then I believe it's another $1.50.

2. The laundry machines are each $1.00. Reports have said that it takes $2.00 to get a load completly dry.

Are you visiting the ruins? I'm taking my DS9 to them as I feel he will really relate to them when they start studying them in a year or so in school. :) How cool will it be for him to be studying the ruins and Maya empire and be able to say "I've been there!! I"ve seen those!!" :goodvibes

I KNow I'm going to have fun with you Kim!! ha ha If you can make planters out of drink glasses, you're my kind of cruisemate!! :cool1:

Now about the pools.. We went on the Dawn Princess and they had fresh water pools too. It was heaven!!

If the arcade is that much, we'll be staying away too. With what we pay for the cruise and tips.. the arcade machines should be FREE!!! :rotfl2:

  Less than a week left!!!

We lucked out this year, my DD11 has a great teacher who happens to share our addiction. She is leaving to go "home" on the same flight as we are. She is a DVC owner at OKW. She did the DCL at Xmas and just wants DD to enjoy herself. Our school system doesn't have a vacation policy so all we have to do is put in their standard excuse form. But I have heard that some school systems are getting really nasty about family vacations. I find that really stupid, while they are missing some school they are also creating a bond with their families, including the extended families. I think in this dual income necessary world that this is really important too. We usually travel only during teachers inservice/convention that way they miss the least amount of school, this time she misses 4 days, but I figure that she is moving into the upper levels of education in the next few years and missing school will be very difficult so do it now while we can.

Good luck to those of you who have to be creative.
see you soon and try to stay warm, 7 below windchill today
