Karen,
Not sure whether we'll do a DCL excursion or not. I'm going to watch the threads from the upcomming western to see what others have done. I'm also checking out cruisecritic to learn about the port.

Thanks for the quick reply Rick. One ? for you...what team are you cheering for on Super Bowl Sunday?

Lisa

Lisa,
I'm supporting Pittsburgh since The Bus is from Detroit. Normally I would go with the NFC. How about you (and everyone else)? Just got my squares from an office pool. I have some good numbers, so fingers crossed . . .

Just got off the phone with my mom and they are just getting off at the WDW exit. Sunny and warm down there now . . .

Rick

Here's some pixie dust Donna for your leak pixiedust: . . .

Hope everything gets fixed quickly :wizard:

Rick

Rick, I'm glad you're routing on the Steelers, we can be friends now! :goodvibes From what our local tv stations are telling us, Detroit is mainly behind the Steelers.

We called DCL and they said they are monitoring Cozumel daily, and they'd call us if the ports change. She also stated that Disney being Disney wants everything to be perfect. Anywhere in the Caribbean will be warmer then here.

Lisa

Well I'm probably the odd "man" out but I'm routing for the Seahawks!! I'm routing for the Seahawks...but think that the Steelers will win! And very anxiously awaiting Brett Favre's decision!! Even though he didnt have a great year..I still hope he stays!! ::yes::

Holli, we won't hold that against you1 :teeth: I actually like it when the Steelers are the underdogs, it's worked well for them in the past. If the Steelers do win you can be sure that we'll be wearing black'n'gold on the ship.

Lisa

Lisa, well I guess I'm kinda partial to Mike Holmgren!!(cuz of the Packers) DH is just the opposite!! He's routing for the Steelers! Glad youre not gonna hold it against me!! We'll be wearing the green n gold on the ship!! ( :teeth: )

I don't care what color I wear on the ship, as long as it is summer clothes . . .

I was only kiddin Rick!! Actually I have my "pink" Packers hat already packed!!

Hi everyone! I am so glad to have come across your board!

My name is Melanie and as of 2 days ago we will be joining you all! "We" consists of myself, my DH and our 2 very excited boys, ages 7 and 4.

This is our first cruise and given the short notice I am running around like a crazy person trying to get everything we may need, especially since we are a very "informal" family with very "informal" clothes. ;)

We have a couple of questions that we're hoping some of you veterans may know the answers to.
1) When we are at a port can the kids stay in the Club onboard or do they have to come with us? If they can stay on the ship, do the pagers they give us work off the ship?
2) DH loves to fish and unfortunately DCL doesn't offer much in the excursions dept. Has anyone ever done the bottom fishing excursion at CC? Is it worth the money? What, if anything did you catch? It looks like there's some other sort of fishing on the CC map, any info on that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much to you all for any help you can give me!

Oh, and to hop on to some other topics, DH and I will be heading to Tampa for Bon Jovi on the 17th - CANNOT WAIT!

And GO STEELERS!!!! (I was born near Pittsburgh, so they're a sentimental favorite!)

Hi Melanie and welcome to our cozy group :grouphug: !

Don't get too stressed out about being formal . . . Remember, it's a vacation so enjoy yourself. . . .

As for your questions:

1. Yes the kids can stay in the club/lab while the ship is in port. Just let the CMs know that you're leaving the ship. The pagers only work for about a mile or so. I wouldn't count on them, but if the CMs know you are out and about in port they'll handle whatever comes up . . .

2. Can't help you on this one, not much of a fisherman I'f afraid . . .

We are planning on having a DIS meet on Sunday morning at 11:00 (before Key West) around the Goofy Galley (formally Scoops).

Kim (kshabare) is maintaining a contact list so if you get a chance, PM her with your email address, cabin, names, etc.

Rick

Hi Melanie!! Welcome!!! We have boys that are almost the same age. Jake is 3 right now-he turns 4 on March 6th!!

We too are not very formal people. Both myself and DH hate to dress up!! That is why we are doing Palo on formal night!! So we only have to dress up once!!

I'm pretty sure the fishing at CC is booked! I didnt get in on the ressies early enough and have not been able to reserve it!! Disney told me to keep checking on line that maybe something will open up or someone will change their minds and cancel.

Just saw Bon Jovi :rockband: on the 28th. He was awesome!! ( and of course gorgeous!! )

Melanie, Do you have a Kohl's near you? I picked up a shirt, vest, tie & pants outfit for my 6 yr.old for $19.99. He doesn't like the vest, but that's fine with me. I think it's a little harder to dress boys nice since girls can where dresses to school. My boys won't wear their "cruise clothes" again. Well, maybe to church on Easter, but even our church is casual.

What part of Pitt. were you born in?

Lisa

Lisa, actually I am lucky for the boys, they have friends exactly the same age that had to go to a wedding over the summer so we are borrowing their suits! YAY! But thanks for the tip, that's good to know. Before I remembered about the friends I checked out Walmart and I could have gotten shoes there for $10, so if you're still in need of those, they actually had some that were dressy enough to go with slacks but "chunky" enough to wear with cargo pants or jeans - who's gonna notice your kids shoes anyway?!!? LOL.

The hardest part is me, I am a stay at home mom, I wear jeans and shorts. Sneakers. That's what I'm comfortable in and there's no reason for more, especially living in Florida. I got really lucky this morning and got 2 pairs of nice black pants, 2 blouses and a dress for formal night for $60 at Ross! I was SOOOO happy! DH luckily has a suit for job interviews, and has to wear Dockers and button-down shirts for work, so clothes-wise I think I'm down to needing some nice black "dressy" sandals and a couple nice pairs of shorts! Wooohoo! So I guess it's not nearly as bad as I had first anticipated - it was just the sudden shock of all this! Freaked me out momentarily! :rotfl:

I was born in Indiana, PA. Only lived there til I was 7 so I don't remember much, but I do remember knowing the name of every Steeler! LOL! Are you from PA?
