Hi Gary!

Welcome to the group. :grouphug: You picked a great cruise for your first. Once you go Disney, you never want to go with anyone else!! ::MickeyMo :earseek:

It truly is a small world (now I have that song stuck in my head) :rotfl2: . What part of Canton are you from? We're up by where Sheldon and Sheldon Center meet (up near Joy Rd). I'll send you a PM with contact info. Perhaps we can linkup before February.

Rick

Small world indeed! We're on the other end of Sheldon Center - where it "Ys" into Canton Center. Our friends are just off of Halstead between CC and Beck.

We know all about Disney - LOL! We've been going to WDW for so many years now. Usually we go to OKW every February (you know, to break up our Michigan winters!) and we wanted to try something new, hence, DCL! We thought that the quality would be up to the normal high standards of Disney, so how could we lose?????

We'll have to take you up your offer to meet somewhere before the cruise - thanks!

Sunday is alright for a meet but I wonder why no one was interested in the Sea Day on Monday (2/27)? Saturday will be too busy and people will stagger on the ship. Sunday I would like to search for a Kayak tour and wouldn't want to miss anyone. Last February we had a very small gathering on Monday and it was cool because we recognized some faces from out and about and some of our kids were able to entertain each other while the parents hung out at the pool. We tried to arrange our meet at Scoops.

I'm open for anything. I just wanted to add my two cents (and then some).

Kim

We already have reservations for Brunch at Palo for Sunday 10:30 to 12:30. We'll have to miss the meet.

O.K. I checked another site and looked at a Western Caribbean Navigator from Dec. -- For Sunday they do have about 6 different character appearances during the day BUT first one is at 10:00-10:20 am and the second is at 10:30 -10:50am.
Also, it lists 10:00am bingo, 10:30am Family Animation and at 11:00am Fun in the Sun at Goofy's Pool Gazebo(says something like gather to watch the Magic sail into Key West).
That being said, I still vote for #2 option as our primary meet and maybe a secondary on Sat. or Mon. I chose this one because the last time we cruised everyone sch. the meet for Sat. and it turned out to be a very small group because people were still exploring the ship, getting settled etc...

It is so gloomy here in NYS, tomorrow brings the snow-yeah! Rather have a little of that than bleak rain for days on end. No sun sightings here either. ;)
Eddy

Okay, let's do it! Let's settle on a meet at the old scoops at 11:00 am. hjensen & rjh8115 - thanks for the diligence. I have a huge list going. Over 119 DIS memebers/family memebers. That's amazing. Even if a small percentage show up - our kids and ourselves will have fun just meeting so many people from around the country.

Get pumped - 50 days today! (less for others!)

Kim

Thanks for pulling together the list of DIS folks on our cruise Kim. When we get closer to sail date, can you send it out to everyone via email? I did this for our last cruise and it helped us getting ready for the DIS meet.

Rick

Rick,
I am sure everyone is as excited as my family is. I love that every time I go it feels like the first time all over again.

If anyone wants to PM their email address to me, I'll put a column on my spreadsheet and we can share the list with each other at some point. It'd be fun to email information instead of putting it on the internet. Sometimes I still get a little nervous giving too much information freely.

Anyway - I'm sure the DIS meet will go well - for those who wish to attend.

Kim

Kim,
I think I may have already asked you this, but we arefrom CT too, where abouts are you guys? We are in Tolland.

count us (DH and myself) in for the dis meet. :jumping1:

might be a dumb question... but where or what is the old scoops?

I have seen so many comments on the current weather, but is it just me, or isnt it supposed to snow in january in central ny? I know I should not complain, but it is very strange that we no longer have any snow and it just keeps raining.:umbrella:

The "Old Scoops" is what is now called Goofy's Galley (or something like that). It used to be called Scoops and was the ice cream stand by the Mickey Pool on Deck 9. Now it serves different types of food and has self-serve ice cream machines.

I hear you about the weather this winter. We haven't seen the sun in over two weeks here in Detroit. I don't mind the cold and snow so much as long as the sun is out. This is just too depressing. Come on countdown timers, move faster please!

Rick

Happy 7-week mark everyone! :cool1:

Pretty soon we will all be able to soak up some of the that wonderful sunshine :sunny:

Stay warm all, and happy Saturday . . . .

Rick

Happy Saturday Rick!! Sunshine?? :sunny: Did you say sun shine!!? :confused3 I kinda remember what sunshine is!! :scratchin I cant wait to see some of it here in WI!! Been over 2 weeks since we've seen it!! How depressing!! :sad1:

Wow ... 7 weeks! Yup, still no sunshine, but today wasn't so bad considering I was at WalMart shopping for vacation stuff ... earplanes, motion pills, travel size toiletries, approved suitcase locks, etc. :hyper: I sit here wondering if I missed anything :scratchin Purchased trip insurance the other day, so that's done.

Hey ... is anyone staying at the Airport Hyatt the night before?

I'm a last-minute packer (otherwise, I spend too much time taking stuff out, putting stuff back in, etc.) so I took Thursday off of work too to do just that.

I'm ready ... when do we leave? Oh yeah, less than 7 weeks

I need to see some sunshine soon or I am going to go crazy. I am so looking forward to to this cruise. We have now been without sun for over 2 weeks, I think this is a record, and My whole family has the flu so I am stuck in the house with them. I will start my packing and organizing in early Feb, I need to call the doctor for the patch and get seabands for my daughter, but that will wait a while.

My daughter and I are both trying to lose some holiday weight that we put on, I lost 117 in 2004 and gained back 25 this fall, I have lost fifteen in the last 2 weeks and need another 15 before the cruise. I made a deal with DD that if she lost the 10 she put on that I would buy her the evening dress that she wanted for formal night, she has lost 6 1/2 so far, hopefully she can lose the rest.

I hope I get to meet some of you on the ship, I'll see if Home Depot has the Green Mickey chips available

Judy

Its finally snowing here-but just tiny flurries. Its been so long without considerable sun that the solar street lights are not working :rotfl2:

Heres an anal overplanners question.. which color green mickey heads do we use? DH got Sonic Boom & Alien Green ones, just in case. I wonder if Home Depot thinks it strange the amount of green mickey heads they have to replace. :scratchin

Anyone staying in Cocoa Beach the night before? Still haven't had luck with Priceline for there. We'll be going for a third request soon.

We bought some Disney Mardi Gras pins off ebay this week. Its all coming together.

Karen-I'm going to be asking for those drink recipes real soon. Have a great, safe Saturday everyone.

Eddy

jdkdorn ... you and your daughter keep up the good work on the weight loss :flower2: i had lost 23# with WW over the course of 7-8 months, but put about 10# back on after i stopped going, so i'm working on losing some poundage too. didn't go back to WW, just doing it on my own. started tuesday of this week and so far so good. seems once i get a couple days in, it's a lot easier. i'm counting my points again and getting my butt out walking again. picturing myself in a swimsuit sure is good incentive! :scared1:

maybe you know this already, but look for the "alien green" mickey chips at HD because i think there are other greens.

i believe the "alien green" ones would be the ones!

I must have missed something, what do we do with the green mickey swatches?

Kathy
(saw the sun today but didn't recognize it)

Kathy:

My understanding is we wear them to identify us as DISers when we hook up with everyone on our meeting day. Maybe someone can clarify in case I am wrong!

Yep, we use the Alien Green Mickey chips to make name tags to help identify the DIS family . . .

No snow, just ice last night. Sigh, I need the sun . . . .
