February 24, 2008

I see Jessaboo is from Ohio, we are from IL. Where is everyone else from? I am praying for good weather for our flight, and not a blizzard in Chicago.

We are from Quebec City. We'll be wishing for good weather in both Montreal, where we will be leaving from, and Washington, where we will be changing flights. :wizard:

We will also be wishing for first seating. I just called to be put on the waiting list. :wizard: :wizard:

We live about an hour outside Baltimore, Maryland...
Hey Telemere, you mentioned in a previous post you were staying in the Walt Suite...care to give your fellow Marylanders a tour??!:worship: :rotfl:
hahaha, just kidding, we won't bother you:laughing:

I have already been told by the Mrs. I better not be inviting people we don't know into the suite lol. Lets hook up for drinks or something so she can get to know you and we can probably make that happen.

I just read that we won't be seeing the new Toy Story show after all: after threads saying that it would begin this month, DCL has officially announced it will begin in April...

I don't know if it's a good news or not :confused3 : I really like Hercules, but I would've liked to see the new show and the kids love Toy Story...

When we booked this cruise, we said if we're doing a third, we'll have to do a fourth (because I really want to do the Western)... Does this mean we'll have to do a fifth... :rolleyes1

My daughter will be 32 months when we sail. Not a lot she can do. Is the Atlantis worth the money? This is our first cruise and my husband will not leave her at floundars. Open for suggestions!!:confused3

Hi all,

I will be joining you. I took the plunge and booked with an online agency today. They included a $75 OBC. I'm happy :) I have to wait til Monday or Tuesday to get my confirmation number though :(.

I'm Beth, I'm a 27 y-o teacher. I've been to WDW and Disneyland before but I'll be my first time on DCL. I'll be going on my own, but that's okay with me. I'll just be enjoying doing what I want to do and relaxing. I want to go Atlantis in Nassau (yes, the expensive one) and I'll probably rest on the beach, bike or kayak in Castaway Cay.

Dreamtoreality,

I know there is a packing list here somewhere, cause I looked at it. Anyone know where it is? I also recommend the passporter. I got my through amazon.com or they have a website. Im a newbie too but it has lots of great info.

Telemere,
I am sorry to hear about your experience at the encounter. Thanks for the photography info. A co-worker of mine thought is was great. I guess I will find out myself. We are doing the Stingray at CC too.

Did anyone book their flight through Disney? Do you know when the usual arrival time is? The site says I cant find out until Jan.22.

We are in second seating. Anyone else?

Check out this thread, it's very helpful http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1002071

The DIS site is also really useful. And this guide is a bit out of date, but still a good overview. :surfweb:

We never booked flight with Disney so I can't help you with that. And yes we have second seating, but are hoping to switch since the kids are only 3 1/2 and 5 1/2. My younger one fell asleep during first seating last cruise, imagine second! :faint: And I don't want the kids to eat before us or eat on deck 9 every night.

Ooop! I went all the way to B&N just to look at the Passporter for cruises and I forgot to do so! I got the Passporter for when I went to Disney last August, and loved it! I gave it to my friends who went there for the honeymoon and they absolutely loved it, too!

A lot of you have been talking about the Dolphin Encounter. If it's what you really want to do, do it in Nassau or Castaway. But, I did one through Dolphin Discovery (google Dophin Discovery, I can't post the link) in Cozumel over Christmas. I did the Royal Swim, and it was an absolutely AMAZING experience. Where as the Encounter limits your interactions with the dolphins, in the Royal Swim or Dolphin Swim you could be pulled by the dolphins and pushed by them (Royal) as well as get the kiss and hug. Truly an amazing experience. I paid $139 for the Royal Swim, where as the ship was asking nearly that much just for the one where you get to hug and kiss and touch the Dolphin. If you can wait on this, do it in a place where they offer the Dolphin Swim or Royal Swim with Dolphins you will have a much better experience for your $$.
(Tortola, Anguilla, Cozumel, Cancun, Puerto Vallerta, Hawaii just to name a few)

Thank you Sally. and thank you to the person who posted the DIS packing list. I looked @ Amazon and saw the passporters. The 2008 is not out yet, I suppose I should get the 2007? I noticed in the deluxe passporter descriptions it mentioned staterooms to stay away from I'm wondering if ours is one?...sigh...

As a first time cruiser it was difficult to guess where or what stateroom location would be best to even make a request when booking. So we are winging it. If anyone has any recommendations, suggestions regarding stateroom locations would be appreciated. I did see on DIS site the stateroom reviews, (luv that site).

We didn't book our flights through Disney 1 reason being not knowing your flights/time until a month or so ahead. We ended up getting a decent fare through US Air.

This is such a great board, I'm hoping perhaps we'll all have a chance to meet onboard somehow.

We have 6:00 p.m. dining seating.

They do offer a Dolphin Swim @ the Blue Lagoon but not through the cruise line I guess. For us, I think my little one might be hesitant @ first to do an actual swim (maybe I would be too.lol) , so this seems ideal to have this first encounter plus I'm looking forward to the boat ride (catamaran I think) out there and the area (Blue Lagoon/Salt Cay) itself seems interesting.

their website is: dolphinencounters.com

I requested 1st dining, however with y'all saying you've been put on the waitlist I doubt I'll get it. Of course, since I'm a solo you never know. Last time I had the late dinner I was nearly falling asleep in my meal and STARVING. :rotfl: Just way tooo late for me.

In terms of packing, I got a look at the Passporter last night and that had a good list. I'd definitely go take a look at it, but the spreadsheet somebody posted here is just as good and has the same stuff.

Make sure you bring at least one set of "nicer" clothes for the semi-formal night and/or if you plan to go to Palo. These could be just a nice skirt and a shirt or a nice sundress. Don't skimp on shoes, I did and regretted it. Bring a pair of water shoes per person (props if they double as pool shoes), a nice pair of shoes for semi formal night, a more comfy pair of shoes for walking around port and the ship (those these can double as pair of sandals if you're comfy walking around in them) and if none of these fit into the category of shoes you can wear to dinner on normal night, bring a pair of those, too. I brought Crocs and used them as pool/water/walking around. However, this time I'll bring another pair just as walking around shoes. OH, and even though this is the caribbean, don't dismiss the potential for an unexpected cold front or being chilly on the ship. Bring a light sweater or something like that just in case. I'm bringing a light sweater and a pashmina.

No idea when Disney gets you in. It probably depends on where you're flying from and what the flights are like. As I flying down from a northern climate, I just booked my own as I don't want to take the risk of flying in the day of. Plus I got tix on Jetblue for only $230. :D.

Is anybody planning to do Atlantis by booking the Comfort Inn next door to get the day pass? I'd love to do the Aquaventure but right now it's looking a bit cost prohibitive. If anybody has an extra space and they've booked the Comfort Inn, I'd happily offer something for the trouble of adding me to your reservation if you didn't mind. ;)

There was one site that used to list those staterooms, but the link doesn't work anymore... :confused3

We could plan a DIS meet on the first day. But I recommend not to place it too soon: on our last cruise we planned to meet at 2pm, but most of us missed it (myself included). :sad2:

We are in the first seating. Oh and we are taking the Auto train from DC, no flying for me.

I finally got on the website to view my reservation! I requested first seating dining and got second, oh well, not going to do anything about it. I'm just glad that the show is *prior* to dinner, it will keep me occupied (I'm v. AD(H)D and who knows if I'll remember to take my meds).

I signed up for Palo the night we're in Nassau, but I'll probably change that once we're on board and I know what the dining rotation is. I don't want to miss Animator's Palate or Pirate Night. Hopefully there will be more choices.

Excursions: Right now I'm booked for the Getaway Package on CC, I don't know if I'll use the float, but I'm definitely looking forward to biking and snorkeling. Plus I want to do the adult scavenger hunt (have to decide between that and the first single's meet).

Nassau: I signed up for Aquaventure, but I don't know that I'll go. Ever since I've heard of Atlantis I've wanted to go there, even to just walk around, and the water park sounds fun. Who knows, Maybe I'll just combine seeing the Dig and a Nassau tour.

Hi anllily!

Just a few days ago I was reading the trip report from someone on our cruise last year and she didn't have very good comments about the single's meet... it was lacking singles! :sad2: Perhaps the adult scavenger hunt would be a better bet.
