February 2014 Code watch

Super Excited:cool1::cool1:
I'm not a lucky person but when I called into WDW to book the SPD visa card member deal yesterday they said I had a FREE DINING PIN attached to my name!! How awesome!! :cool1::cool1:

I made our reservations yesterday. My family of four saved $750 with the stay/play/dine. Seven nights at Pop, with quick service and eight days of basic tickets. Not as great as free dining, but because my kids are 11 & 14, they are "Disney adults" so kids' prices help us a lot.

I just switched from BLT to AKL to get a better discount. I already regret it. Why does this feel so stressful. It's vacation for goodness sake!

I agree! It is ridiculous that planning a Disney vacation causes so much stress so far in advance. Between ADRs 180 days out and chasing discounts and needing to switch resorts worrying about availability, it's enough to make your hair fall out.

Those who are worried about POFQ being full on the 8th, they will have more availability once it goes GP. They do not open the entire block of discounted rooms for the DV offer. People who have already booked with DV but weren't able to get what they wanted will also probably try to call back on the 8th to see if they can switch.

And LM rooms will most definitely not be included in the public offer, so don't hold your breath. Book now if you can!

Am I right in trying to figure this out?
People want FQ for the SPD offer?
I was going to do FQ for RO but it was only a 5% so I did go over to POR.
I've never stayed there so thought "what the heck?"
I had planned to book RO now and deal with the rest later, but by the time I got off the phone......I had tickets and air covered too.

I had to laugh that the CM kept repeating her questions. She truly wasn't paying attention to what I was saying. So if I said "no I don't want dining plan" after about 3 questions she would ask again.
Or repeat something about the Trip Insurance.

Oh talk about laughing......she asked me if I knew about myexperience, asked if I wanted her to book my ADRs, and asked if I new about customizing my MBs. :rotfl2:
I told her I was a Disboard reader so that is how I knew about the DV discounts so yes I knew to do all these things because I'm going in November and already have all that set up. Even had my ADRs for February before I had a trip booked.

Does anyone else find some magic gone when you know more than the CM?

overwhelming feeling when I call on the 8th POFQ will be gone for our dates. I know I can switch over to POR or another moderate but we really wanted POFQ this trip.

I've been SHOCKED at how many are booking for PO-FQ! I like it a lot and we are staying there but it's crazy. But anyway have you checked online to see if your room type is still available? I went on to double check pricing and they had everything available but king rooms for our dates and I was able to get SPD for standard view. If I had to move up a category I would have switched to POR because we were considering royal rooms so why pay $20 more for a view I don't care about when we could pay a few dollars more for the royal room but luckily we got what we wanted.

A while ago, I booked two Theme Park View rooms at the Contemporary Resort for February. When the Visa discount offers rolled out this week, I called WDW to price out both with my resie and determine which was the better deal/savings... but neither discount applied to my room! So bummed.

Turns out that we can use the "Room Only" discount on a Garden room or a Tower non-Theme Park View room, but not a regular (i.e. Tower) TPV which is what we already have booked.

The "dining" discount (which, btw, they told me is a packaged room/dining discount and NOT simply adults paying kids DP prices) also extends to Atrium CL TPV...but still not to our standing reservation!

And we are pretty much dead set on a Theme Park View room - we have young kids (and are bringing the inlaws for connecting room) so we expect to spend many nights in the room watching the fireworks on the balcony after we get the kids to bed. For us, a TPV is non-negotiable. As is staying at CR.

As much as I'd love to upgrade to CL with a TPV, it is still cost-prohibitive despite the packaged discount.

So, my question is whether any of you think that my room class will fall under either of the two discounts next week when the new codes come out on the 8th for the general public? Presumably, a larger block of inventory will be made available at that time, however, my gut tells me that the restrictions will stay the same as with the Visa offer. Thoughts? Thx!

I agree with your assumptions - more rooms will be released, but restrictions and exclusions will probably be the same. Wishing you some pixie dust!:wizard:

No expert just a guess. With your room being a highly desired room, my guess is that it is excluded from any discounts. I'm adding that type of room to my dream/someday category. For now I had hoped for POFQ RO but when it was only 5% the price difference with POR forced me to change my mind. This is the second time I've had to change my mind. November with Free Dining I had to move to Coronado. I had to prioritize what I wanted to make decisions based on those priority.

Hey it's only money! Enjoy the experience! Sounds like an awesome trip. And the location of the hotel/room sounds magical.

Now with all that said, doesn't hurt to try and talk to another CM.
I've heard other people called and got one answer and then the next time they called got another answer. It's a call center. You would think they would be informed before a discount release but apparently there are too many of them and some don't get the memo for the first day release.

Hoping Pixie dust for you too.:cheer2:

Question for you guys-- if we were to do the s/p/d and there are 4 adults- if we decide to trade our tickets in on annual passes are we going to be credited at adult prices are child prices?

You mud use your tickets at least one time and they will price bridge for you. Meaning you will get credit for an adult ticket with your options price.

We solved our "choke on the price" dilemma by scaling back to room only. We'll buy tickets separately and skip the dining plan, just pay OOP. Unless, of course, we find ourselves feeling flush between now and Feb., in which case we can always upgrade. Dh is feeling better about things. Also, I'll start getting more Disney GCs at Target with my 5% off thingies there, to help pay for meals.
We just booked POFQ yesterday with Visa S/P/D, and are STILL suffering "sticker shock":scared1::scared1::scared1: My thinking is that if FD doesn't come out for this time frame,or we don't get a pin(already got one for FD for Dec.and still have that booked),we are going to stay off-site and save $2000.... I just can't justify paying that much money for somewhere(albeit POFQ) to basically sleep and shower. We'll rent a condo,or stay at another hotel that has a kitchenette(done it several times before)and cook easy meals, and eat at some restaurants off property. These prices are absolutely ridiculous for the value in my opinion.....Now if I can get my wife to agree....We have been spoiled with FD,and have taken full advantage of it 5 years running!;)

So, my question is whether any of you think that my room class will fall under either of the two discounts next week when the new codes come out on the 8th for the general public?

Probably not, unfortunately. I had told my Disney-TA to go ahead and book us a Bay Lake View Tower room on the 8th. When I contacted her a couple days later to switch from a Bay Lake to TPV room instead, she cautioned that she "hoped" those rooms wouldn't be "tiered" as they had been in the past. I assumed that was her way of telling me that the TPV rooms would be excluded from the discounts, so I feel your pain. Bummer.

And we are pretty much dead set on a Theme Park View room - For us, a TPV is non-negotiable.

Which is most likely the reason why the CR won't discount those rooms in the upcoming promotion. They know people will still book them regardless. ;)

And I think that is why POFQ wasn't included in FD for Fall or the 25% off for 2014. Bummer cause I stayed there in 2010 and fell in love but when it comes to the price savings, I can't justify not trying something new.
I got POR and requested Magnolia Bend area for my solo trip. I hope I get that area. The pictures are beautiful and since that trip will be a very special taking care of myself trip......
Wish people understood how each visit is different than the next.

Our win and their loss, right?

So excited. 41 days until our anniversary vacation and then I can keep counting down for my February Vacation. Thank you Disney and JetBlue for making this happen for me!

:dance3:

Ok I need some help crunching numbers! Pretty please. We are a family of 6 so we have to get 2 rooms. We want to stay at POR in Feb. 8 days/9 nights. We do want to do the dining plan also..the regular one not the counter service. Ages are 45,43,19,16,9,and 9. so...4 are considered adults. Would the S/P/D save us more money than the RO discount and if so..by how much. I really am not good at figuring this stuff out. Thanks for any help anyone can give. :goodvibes

I have been trying this morning to check but it won't take me to the availability screen. It just goes blank so figuring there is an issue with the website. It is our 1st attempt at staying there after staying at ASM, CS and POR. From what a lot of people have said it is their favorite moderate and we were excited about staying there this trip. We usually go at Spring break so this whole "calling when a deal becomes public" is new to us. I didn't realize, if a PP was correct, that they only have so many available for the Visa card holders and then release a new block of rooms when it goes public. Hoping that is the case but we will be happy with whatever we get. I have a list of Plan A, B and so on. Either way we are going to Disney and we will have a great time regardless!

Booked and then changed my mind already- doing the room only discount from Feb 22-March 1. Surprising the kids for this trip and my son's bday is feb 23 so I'm really excited to celebrate his bday at Disney world. Booked pop and then switched to POR. Can't wait-they were out of preferred rooms for our dates but hopefully we get close to dining/transportation. Wahoo!!
