February 2014 Code watch

I called earlier today to try and get the Disney Visa discount and i was told I would have to call back October 8. I called again and spoke to someone else was able to get the stay play and dine deal for French quarter February 4 through the ninth. I saved around $500. Just FYI.

Ugh! I didn't even think about that! We didn't plan on tickets the day we checked in and checked out. I would think you wouldn't have to add them check out day since you don't get dining after check out. That would stink if you have to get them check in day! We don't get there til almost 8 pm- some of the parks will already be closed! By the time we could check in and get to which ever one stayed open til 9 or 10 pm it wouldn't be worth it. Hummmm.... Well, that discount just got a little bit less magical. Oh well- something is better than nothing!

I don't think so, we got the deal and we only got 6 days worth of tickets. We also left off check in and check out days. Our total stay is 7nights/8 days.

Not true! When I called earlier I was told you only needed a two day ticket.

Why do you think PORFQ was quoted as being a 5% discount when other mods are given 25% discount. It sounds like it might have been an error. I would suggest you call back and see if that is true with a different representative.

It's accurate. POFQ is small and fills without the discount. It is 5%

Yayness!!!! I'm so glad POFQ wasn't excluded from SPD!

Feb 16 - 21. 2 Adults. POFQ, Standard Room, 5 day tickets with hoppers, standard dining plan. $2144.10.

Original price was $2529.98, only difference is I added a day onto the tickets when I booked SPD.

Saved $385.88. Yes, thank you!

I got Beach Club for 2/21-3/1! For us, anyway, RO was better than S/P/D. not much difference, though. One benefit is, we can jigger around our tickets some. We may skip park-hopping, and also might not do the dining plan. I dunno, Dh is getting cold feet at the cost. I told him, he shouldn't have gotten me knocked up so many times.

This made me LOL! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

As for the tickets, there's a 2 day minimum. I was told though that if I added days once we were there, I'd have to pay the non-discounted ticket rate if I added days.

So hoping there is availability for POFQ when I call on the 8th! Everyone that has already booked deals cross your fingers for me!!!! We will take the RO at POR as a 2nd but we really wanted to stay at POFQ this trip!

on the spd, if you stay at value you get QS, moderate is Regular Dining. If you book at Deluxe, do you get Deluxe dining for child prices or do you get regular dining and have to pay to upgrade to deluxe?

However, I'm trying to crunch #s and I think we may do S/P/D now. My 9 yo will be just a few days shy of 10 when we are there, so I'm thinking if we can upgrade him to an adult for DDP (and possibly my 7 yo), it would be an even better deal.

The deal isn't exactly the same as SPD last year. It seems to have a discount for kids not just adults and a small room discount too. I would suggest if you get SPD that you should possibly upgrade the older child and not the younger child (at least price it out both ways). It ends up being a lot of food and my kids are swimmers so they EAT. We really liked when we had one kid on each plan. They shared some adult meals, especially quick service with the full sized dessert. Then we used the extra kid credits for them both to get breakfast at our resort a few times which is actually a nice sized kid meal.

You get the regular DDP and will have to pay to upgrade to DXDP.

I'm nervous about sharing on the dining plan...are they allowed, as long as the younger is also eating a kid meal on her own kid plan? I realize this wouldn't apply to prix fixe or buffets for obvious reasons. This is kind of why I was leaning toward OOP, as trying to figure out the rules makes me anxious ;)

All 3 of mine love sushi, fish, steak, etc. so I kind of hate limiting them to the child's meal plan. I love that they try a lot of things and are adventurous eaters (including the 3 yo).

Could the older two split an adult TS entree (not prix fixe or buffet) while on the DDP? For some reason I was thinking that wasn't allowed unless we were paying OOP, but I really have a long way to go on figuring out the dining plan. I kept thinking we'd do RO with dining OOP, as it just seemed more flexible for our situation.

So excited - we bumped up our arrival by a few days & extended our stay a few days ... With cheaper flight & visa offer it came out cheaper than the rack rate we originally booked... Only bummer is we trimmed off a day at the end (saved a ton on our flight) which means I'll be canceling my coveted BOG dinner reservations...

What are your dates? I have two ADRs for BOG but now that we have the Wishes Dessert Party, I think I will cancel the one on the 26th. I'd be happy to try and coordinate with you!

Most places will let you share meals on the DDP (Via Napoli definitely won't). We would typically though have each order a meal and the one who got a kids meal (varied by who wanted what not always the older child) would get extra food from the adult meal. It balanced out very nicely to not be wasting tons of food. My kids generally have similar tastes though. You don't want to end up with extra kids TS credits anyway. I think though that trip I planned an extra breakfast the last day that we could cancel if we had used everything but ended up keeping because we had a few stray credits from sharing. Unless you are staying at a deluxe SPD will probably save you more.

Got my RO discount on our AoA family suite. Only saved about 100 bucks, but that's certainly better than nothing! Now I can stop obsessing about upcoming discounts and just get excited about our trip!! :D
