I'll be running the Princess 1/2 marathon, I'm hopeing for some kind of discount. We will be checking in Saturday morning, running the marathon Sunday and then enjoying the parks the following week. I hope it will be a slow time at the parks.

According to touring plan.com it should be a quiet week. It is after presidents day and before Spring break. We are going the same time. I talked to a CM today and she said there would probably be some sort of discount. I hope so!!

We were there this year the weekend of the marathons. And the only way we could tell there was any difference was the people wearing the medals. Didnt really see any crowd increase at all.

Here is my theory...now help me out on this one lol. I am worried about my ADRs. If I have to switch around some dates to get FD than that will have to happen. Right now my check in date is 2/28. I chose this week and not the week before cause I am checking in on a Thurs, and if I checked in on the Thurs before it would be during Pres week, which there will be no discounts. I did Pres week this year and dont care to do it again next. But I did get FD this year by checking in on the last day it was offered the week before. So, with that said... the last week of Feb should be a FD week... which will fall into my plans perfectly. I would hate to get up on Sept 1st, make all my reservations and have to switch dates... that would stink! I am that girl that is up at 6am on the computer getting my Ohana lol.
So, does my theory seem true to everyone?
What I dont understand is why it wasnt offered this time frame in 2012 as it was in 2011. Was there something going on this year during that time? Was it peak and princess marathon related???

I think it wasn't offered last February ( last week) is because of leap year and they had that special day. Maybe? They did have FD the year before at that time so wondering if it was because of leap year why they didn't this year. Not sure.

Leap year!! Of course!! I hadnt thought of that. I bet your onto something there. Well if thats it, then thank god its every 4 years and I have a shot this year lol.

We have our flight down booked, but no resort or return flight yet. There's only one week that works for us, and luckily it's not looking to be too busy.
We'll be going from February 21st to March 2nd. We'll be spending the first few days at Universal and heading over to Disney just in time for crowds to die down.

I'm going to start watching this thread too! We're going 2/6 - 2/9 ( pre-cruise ) and I hope we can try one of the discounts. We've been so many times, but never knew about it until this year.

I hope *crossing fingers* we may have to go in February instead of November, and if we do our cost goes up $1500. Our daughter turns 3 Christmas, so we would have that charge. FD would make me feel much better.

I hope so! According to mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html free dinning for 1/8/12-3/31/12 was announced on 8/3/11 and free dining for 1/1/11-3/3/11 was announced on 8/16/10.

I am hoping that some sort of February deal will be announced again in August of this year so I can book my 2013 WDW trip!

We were there during part of that time in 2011. We stayed at ASMO and it really wasn't that bad at all. We only saw them at the resort-never in the parks.

We were thinking of the 3-9. I didn't know about the cheerleaders. I already have a hard time dealing with all the happiness, not cheerleaders to ;p

I've been there during the cheerleader invasion. Except for their ridiculous enthusiasm while waiting for Fantasmic! to start, they were a non-issue for us.

Hi all!! This is my first post altho I've been using this helpful site for years.
Going to Disney Feb 7th-13th, staying at French Quarter.
(Luckily the kids here on the MS Gulf Coast get out of school for three days every yr for Mardi Gras.)

In 2010 we took advantage of that (Feb. 11-17) & the *international* cheer comp. was going on. It didn't cause the parks/lines to be overly crowded but some of the girls were very obnoxious, cheering the name of their home countries at the TOP of THEIR LUNGS in the lines, ugh....
Otherwise, it was a GREAT time to go!
