February 2009 - Walt's Warriors!!

Tracy - GSU checked in and will be giving us monthly totals. Haven't seen Grumpy or Tink. :guilty:

I did 41 minutes last night outside. Woo hoo! Teh path was rutted, though, and we had to turn around early, so we didn't kill ourselves in teh dark. Just 3.38 miles, but the path was rough adn it was cold. My body's not used to that any more. 40s tomorrow, but the bike path will likely be a mess. Then again, I'm due for new shoes anyway. :p Can't bear the thought of 8 inside.

Hey everyone....
So no washing car or anything. Got caught up with getting my laptop out to FedEx for shipping to its vacation destination with Dell. Then out for some errands, stop by my Dad's ACE hardware store to help with some computer stuff, then got my Wii!!! Grocery store and back to the house to set up the Wii.
I did 32 min of boxing, bowling and tennis. Now I just need the Wii Fitness!!

Tracy

Jim, sorry you were cold.
I'm thinking it was 32 deg today and I thought we have a heat wave! Snow is beginning to melt!

Uh oh, you mean if I go on vaca and don't play with the Wii that my Mii will be sleeping and giving more attitude! Oh no!

Tracy, welcome to the Wii--wait til you get the Wii Fit. It is actually fun! I know you enjoyed it today.

Carrie, glad you knew to turn around and be safe last night.

Warriors, keep up the good work. If I don't mention you all by name, please don't feel bad toward me. I don't meant to miss you intentionally.

I got outside for a 1 mile trek in the snow with Kirby dog, then played for a bit with Wii Fit.

Hey everyone!

Today was a rough day for me. I had a tough time getting through my workout. But I finished! This team has been such a motivation for me- it's the reason I get out the door and why I finish every workout!

Got in my normal 1.5 miles in 25 minutes.

Have a good weekend Warriors!
princess: Kat

hehe, just had to giggle to myself this morning when my right arm was a bit sore from the Wii boxing I did yesterday. :lmao:

4.05 miles this morning, why the .05? don't know but I added it in on the end.
5 min warmup, 10 min cooldown and stretching. Total time is 1hr 12min 23sec.

I'm signed up for two fundraising charity events. One in April for the March of Dimes and one in May on Mother's Day for Breast Cancer Support Network.

Haven't signed up for any local 5k's just yet, but know I will soon.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Racey Tracy

Happy Saturday Warriors!

Kat ~ way to get out the door and get it done. Half the part is actually getting your shoes on and to the door.

Tracy ~ LOL...I know that feeling! When I first got my Wii I played baseball and my arm hurt for the next week. I was trying to "throw" the ball too hard..if that's even possible on the wii.

I got out the door and ran 6 miles this morning, it was a nice sunny day after a rainy yesterday.

I signed up to volunteer to be a roadie "crew" for the Aids Lifecycle from SF to LA, some of you may know that I rode in this event last year 545 miles in 7days...so this year I'm giving back and volunteering....which I heard is harder than riding! YIKES

Cheers ~ Marcia

phew- i did my longest run yet... 11miles, 1 hour and 41 mins (101mins). I was pretty pleased with pace as i'm really hoping to hit 2hr mark for 1/2 marathon, but man has it wiped me out! Did 15 mins of stretching and now enjoying icing time! GO WARRIORS!

WAY TO GO KATE!!

You're going to rock the Half!! (by the way, save me some water and gatorade at the end!!) You will get to be the one holding the get together area for afterwards - your so SPEEDY!. Just ask Aloha Jeff what to do, he'll give you some tips.

AFM: I got out and did 10 today!! Was a nice morning, temps around 66, small puffy clouds keeping the sun at bay, nice little breeze. 2 hr 33min.

GO WARRIORS -KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.:goodvibes

Does anyone have races that they have already signed up for?? Don't forget to put it on the team calendar and also here. I will start a place on the intro thread at the beginning to list them.

Tracy

Looks like the Warrior's are rocking along!!! You are all doing a fantastic job!

Kate I am not going to race with you, ever. I don't think I could handle the embarrassment.:guilty:

Marcia I am in awe of the fact that you would do a race like that last year or anytime. That is incredible. Still has to be a rewarding venture to be able to volunteer for it this year. Hope you have a great time!

Tracy So how are you feeling today? Are you letting the Wii game still get the best of you?

Team Keep it up! You are all doing awesome! I know this is going to be a great year for us all here on WISH!!!:cheer2: :grouphug:

Kate - I totally agree with bubba...you are so fast, girl!!!:worship:

Tracy - Great job on your 10 miler this morning! :thumbsup2 (I did 10 today too!)

Marcia - How'd you get sun in the bay??? We've been under clouds and the new storm blowing in is COLD! Glad you got in your 6 miles in nice weather though.

Jeff - Don't say it...I know. I've been watching the ProBowl. You're weather is beautiful!;) I do have to say that it was nice to see the island so green again. When we were there in 07, everything was brown. Very sad...especially since it was DH's first trip to HI and he was not impressed.:confused3 But after seeing what it should look like today on TV, I think I could get him to go again someday.

Hello to everyone else!:wave2:

I did 10 miles this morning in 2:13. I was aiming for 2:10 or less, but didn't quite make it. :sad2: Oh well...next time. 5 weeks until my 1/2 marathon!

Later, team!

I don't have much time to catch up, but I just wanted to report. I'm still not running, will probably start sometime in the middle of the week as long as I keep feeling better. I did walk a mile Friday and a mile and a half yesterday. I also did about 30 minutes of wii fit yesterday and 20 minutes today. :goodvibes

Kat, good job you are doing grat.

Kate, You are flying! That is amazing. Seems like you are on target to get to that 2 hr half.

Tracy, good for you signing up for fundraising. I find it rather a challenge, but have been doing that for several years here. We raise for American Cancer Society. Best WISHes in getting those dollars.

Marcia, good for you to sign up to volunteer. I hope it is not as challenging as participating, but I would say volunteering is not easy.

I have fun with Wii and Wii Fit, but I didn't do much of anything this weekend. Swamped getting things organized at home. DH has his surgery Tuesday and we've been busy.

A DF of mine has offered his home for me if I can make it to Seattle for the half. He even volunteered to do the event with me, so he said. Ooooh how I WISH there would be a way. I'd so love to have that golden tree out back to pick the money and be able to go. I've got Nashville lined up for sure and DL too. I can dream...

Hi everyone!

I'm a new Walt's Warrior, and I thought I'd just write a quick post to introduce myself.

I ran the WDW half marathon last month (in 2:29!) and had such a fantastic enough time training for and running it, that I decided to do the full marathon in 2010. I had lurked a bit on the WISH board last year but was too shy to post; however, I got chatting with a few of the lime green masses while waiting for the half marathon to start, and decided to take the plunge this year.

This is my first week of really being back to running since the half marathon, after taking weeks to recover from The Stupidest Race Injury Ever (TM). I had dislocated a bone in my left foot 10 days before the half marathon; I decided to run anyway and had counted on it hurting A LOT during the race. However, what I didn't count on was that by favoring the outside of my foot, I ended up re-injuring my inside ankle, which I had sprained nearly a year before. OUCH!

Anyway, I started running this week, again, and it feels great. I'm starting small and slow to avoid putting strain on my recovering ankle and doing some biking as well, but it just is wonderful to be running again. I only ran 10 miles this week, but it's a start.

Tracy, I will send you a PM with my email address so that I can add my mileage to the Google spreadsheet!

Anyway, nice to meet you all. I'm looking forward to a great 11 months of training!

Sarah

Sarah - Welcome!!!!!! COngrats on teh half, but OUCH!!!! Are you all ehaled now? I hope so!!! Looking forward to training with you!!!

Tracy - You will love wii fit. I do!!! In fact, haven't doen it since Thursday adn I really miss it.

Marcia - Yay on teh volunteering! I remeber Jeff telling us about the race last year. Good fo ryou fr oehlping this year. DH and I finally got in gear adn started doing some volunteering last year.

Lily - I hope your godl tree starts to grow soon. That owudl eb great to go to Seattle!

Kate - WTG on that 11-miler. Please be careful not to over do it and get injured. (((hugs)))

Bryan - How's the trainign going in your world?

Michelle - WTG on teh 10-miler. remeber, the adrenaline you have in teh race will really help your time. DOn't push too ahrd now.

Kat - Everytime you have trouble with a workout, but stick with it, that is a HUGE victory. Way to go!!!

Marcie -Glad you are feeling good enough to get some work outs in. Hope you are 100% soon!

Jeff - Again, thanks fro that video. Shared it with DH over the weekend and he loved it oo!

SIlly, but I power cleaned Friday adn my body is still tired. I di d8 miles yesterday and I was tired. Still pleased with my time. A bit worried that I'm out of shape, but dh assures me that's not possible. I think he's right. I used my legs pretty hard Tue throughFriday last week.

Great news! I ran outside fro teh 89 miles. WOo hoo. SHoudl eb outside again Tuesday. Of course, teh snow is coming back Wednesday. Easy come, easy go.

OK, signing up for Saturday's Ice Fest 5k tonight. Starting to line up races for spring and summer.

Hey Warriors-

I was supposed to do a LR of 9 miles this weekend, but the timing didn't work out. I had to take Emma to a cheerleading camp thing (fundraiser for the school cheerleaders- you get a t-shirt and learn a cheer). I took the baby for 6.5 miles before breaking under the pressure of the constant phone calls- "Where are you?! When will you be back?! Do you know what time it is?!"

Anyway, I took a nap on Sunday (as in passed out and didn't know where I was when I woke up;) ) and then did another 3. So even though it took me 2 days, I finished my 9 miles. Kind of counts, right?!

Tracy- up next on my schedule:

1) Dolphin Days 10k on Feb 21;
2) Princess half on March 8.

I really wanted to do the Breast Cancer half, but I forgot everyone in my house stays sick through every February... I've tried to do the Dolphin Days run 3 years in a row and always, always woken up with a fever. Maybe I'll get lucky this year! Have fun with the wii fit!

Sarah- ow! Take care. Glad to have you join us!

Lily- that is so tempting. I feel the same way about the Breast Cancer half- I'd really like to go, but we'd need a hotel and then the entry fee and pretty soon I'd be looking at $500... I'm thinking I may need to cut back on some of the Disney races to free up cash for others, but that feels so wrong! :rolleyes1

Immarick- you're being smart. Keep getting well!

Kate- you go, girl! My big goal is to break 2 hours on a half. Sometimes I think I want to try for the Princess, but then reality hits me...

Marcia- I have a friend from high school doing that race! He just posted last week on facebook that he's ridden more than 1000 miles for 2009. That just made me tired!

Kat- way to fight the rough days!

Carrie- again, you are so brave to go in the cold. I was in a t-shirt and shorts both days this weekend. I thought of our cold friends... OK, Ice Fest 5k? I'm afraid of it just from it's name!

Jim- the Dolphin Race is at St. Simons Island Feb 21. There's a 10k at 7:30 a.m. and a 5k at 10:00. It's maybe $10-15 to sign up and I think you can sign up that morning. It may be too far for you to bother, but wanted to let you know. SSI is incredibly flat. ;)

Jeff- cool video!

OK, really have to work. Hey to everyone!

Jen in GA

Had a pretty good week this past week. I said I would do this to help keep myself accountable so here it is. Weight last week 262 weight starting this week 253. Down 9 now I just have to keep thing going.

Jen - if it makes you feel any better, it wasn't cold this weeknd. We had a heat wave,. It was in the 40s!!!! :cool1: :rotfl: Hope you rfamily does better beign well this month!!!! :wizard:

Ken - Way to go!!!! That is just awesome!!!

Everyone!Oh my goodness you guys are awesome!!! Thank you so much for your super kind words.

Carrie i know injury's definitely a worry as i'm facing a massive distance build up to make the marathon. Goes up to 12 next week then 14! I will never again do a 12 week marathon plan.

Ken great work dropping 9, that is absolutely brilliant.

Jen what a stunning line up of events. I know you'll break 2 hours because you're such a determined little warrior!

Sarah lovely to meet you, so very pleased your foot/ankle is doing much better

Michelle 2:13 is so close to your target that you should be very proud of yourself. I'm very proud :woohoo:

Lily oh if you WISH hard enough seattle just might come true. What a lovely friend.

Bubba i'd love to run with you anytime!!!!

Tracy way to go on your 10miles, it looks chilly over there. Dad's already threatened me if it's not warm in march he's going to be angry!

Nothing to post for now, run club tomorrow. Trying to avoid my boyfriend's cold germs!!!! That's enough work for me right now :rotfl:

Sarah - :welcome: We're so glad to have you! You'll love it here- I know I do! :goodvibes

Marcia, Lily, Carrie, & Jen - Thanks so much for the words of encouragement! Love my Warriors!!!

Ken - Congrats!! That's so great!

Kate - That is awesome! You are super fast! We should start calling you Dash :upsidedow

Got in my normal 1.5 miles in 25 minutes today. Some awesome things happened today, though. As I walked into the rec center here at WVU, the girl at the desk reminded me that this week was "Random Acts of Kindness" Week and gave me a really nice WVU backpack! WOO! Anyway, as if I thought it couldn't get any better- I believe (if I did all my calculations correctly) I did a 15 minute mile today!!!! I'm so happy! :woohoo: Thanks for all your encouragement guys!

Have a great day Warriors!
princess: Kat

Just a quick fly by... I wasn't scheduled for anything today, but decided to go out for a quick walk on my break since the weather is beautiful! One mile in 15 minutes. Nothing like padding my totals!;)

Welcome to the team, Sarah!

Jen, Ken and Bella - Great job! :thumbsup2 Jen...your 9 miles counts no matter what! Ken...WOW! 9 lbs in one week! Good for you!
Bella...doesn't it feel great to hit a goal?

And thanks, Kate, for the encouragement about my time.
