February 2009 - Walt's Warriors!!

I got my Wii FIT today!!! Yeah, I did all the Yoga poses and some of the Strength. Then added some tennis and bowling. Total time of actually doing anything was 25min. It's kinda cool!!

I have a 4 miler for tomorrow. Then I can't decide if I want to do my 12 miler on Sunday then an 7 and 7 before the Princess or do an 8 on Sunday then the 12 and then a 6 before the Princess Half. That would either give me a one week in between to taper or two weeks, hmmmmmm.

Tracy

Thanks for all of the healing thoughts....they worked! I went to PT today and they worked me pretty hard and I was sore for a while. But the good news is that I have been cleared to do light biking and swimming. And *maybe* can try an easy short run on Monday. I go to PT on Monday morning and we'll see then about a run later in the day.

That will make 8 days without running! OMG, I am so scared. I have never taken more than 3 days off without a run and I have no idea what it is going to do to me.

Sarah--about the lower back pain....my first guess is shoes? Did you get properly fitted? and/or Is it time for new shoes? Just a thought.

So I was able to log 9 miles on the bike today. Nice and easy. 15mph pace. No pain at all. Plus an hour of PT for 1:45 total.

Have a great week-end, team!

Two miles in 29 minutes for me tonight. I basically walked them as I have a 4 mile race in the morning and then an 8 miler on tap for Sunday.

Have a great weekend, Warriors!

Hey hey, i did my first 12 miles today- sorry i guess over the next few months there will be a lot of firsts! Took 1 hour 50 and funnily enough my time at 11 miles was exactly the same as last week :) Had to add 15 mins of stretching but will make up for all of those spent calories tonight as off out for valentine's day. Hmm chocolate time!

erika i'm thrilled PT went so well, you will make it through 8 days you just might have a few holes in the floor from pacing! I'll keep my fingers crossed for monday

Hey everyone- Happy Valentine's Day!

I missed my run yesterday... life took over.. but i'm going to make it up tonight! Check in with everyone later!

Happy Valentine's Day Warriors!1

Got out and did my 4 miles today!!! (and some wii fit!)

Tracy

Hey Warriors:

Roxy So sorry to hear about your Dad.

Tracy where did you get your Wii Fit? And for races, are miles and minutes doubled or just miles? I am always confused about that. And I have to say I love putting my stuff in on the spreadsheet! It's nice that it shows a total for everyone too. just noticed that the other day

My 10 K this morning in St. Pete, FL!
I haven't checked chip time yet, but Garmin said 6.3 miles, 73 minutes, 11:42 average pace! Which for me is fast for that kind of distance. I even walked for about 5 minutes total. It was just fantastic. Fell into my stride early. and felt awesome the whole way through. A bit of shin pain initially (I have been having shin splints all week), but I put biofreeze on my shins pre-race and I think that helped. Course was also flat as a pancake. (overall 5K winner finished in under 15 minutes!! ) A beautiful morning, low 60's at the start. Just awesome. The worst thing about the race was that somewhere along the way I lost my 13.1 bondiband.

YEAH!!! AMY!!!! Awesome. Time and Miles are doubled for races!! GO you!!

I got the WiiFit throught Gamestop.com website.

Sorry to hear about the shin splints, now chill out and do some easy runs before the Princess!!

Tracy

Tracy, thanks for the Wii Fit info! Sadly, I will not be doing the princess unless a job offer comes through from my interview this past week. :sad2: I do have the Gasparilla 1/2 on March 1st. So I would be doing back to back 1/2's if I did it! :scared1: That's would be okay. I might not have the best time, but I'd finish for sure!

Hi Warriors!

I finished my 4 mile race this morning in 50 minutes. Pretty good time for me. After getting a bite to eat and a shower, we headed to downtown Sacramento to watch the time trials for the Tour of California! It was so neat to watch!

Will check in again tomorrow after my 8 mile scheduled LR for the week!

Roxy - So sorry about your Dad.

I'm running a 1/2 in the morning also. I'll think of you ...............

Which begs the question: I have to get up at 3:30 a.m.. It's now 10 p.m.. What the heck am I still awake for?????? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Good morning Warriors, hope all training is going well.

Jim - how did the race go?

Did my 8 miles this morning and everything was good.

Have a good SUnday, now go watch some NASCAR!!

Tracy

Way to get in your miles Warriors.

I did 12 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes.

Now off to our Girl Scout meeting with our keiki.

Happy Sunday to my Warrior Pals!

Today I did the National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer (1/2) in Jacksonville Beach.

It was a nice race, about 7000 runners total. Weather was ok. Cool, Overcast & a bit humid.

This was my 1st really hard run since Goofy, And lemme' tell you, I was REALLY happy to turn south @ the 1/2 turnaround rather than continue north for the full.

Some hip & knee issues at times. Some of the roads were REALLY slanted to the side which really bothered me at a couple of points. My right hip was KILLING me around mile 12 (never had that happen before), but I think I finished pretty strongly.

I did not break 2 hours like my double secret time goal was, but I DID PR by 9+ minutes & did finish in 2:03:54. Overall a good day!!

How was all the races this weekend?

I have a question, how do i get to the spreadsheet? I keep track of my miles and time on activetrainer.com. Is it okay to just report at the end of the month or should I be using the spreadsheet?

Saturday I treated myself to a massage. It was much needed. :thumbsup2 Then I ran 2.25 miles and did the wii fit for 30 minutes. Sunday I did the wii fit for 30 minutes.

Hello everyone! Hope all your races went well!

I got in 30 minutes - 2 miles today. But it was extra special because it was in my NEW SHOES!!! I went over the weekend and got real running shoes. The shoes I had been wearing weren't right at all and I believe that's where my shin and slight ankle problems were coming from. But I went to Finish Line (I know, not the best place- but mom who was driving just took me to the mall) - the guy looked at how I walked and recommended some things. Well he was so great because the shoes I got are AMAZING. They cushion so well! Here they are:

The are the Brooks Glycerin 7. I did my run on them today and no shin pain- no ankle pain. I think I'm in love hahaha

Have a great day Warriors!!!

Happy belated Valetines Day Warriors!

Michelle ~ Way to go on the 4 miles

Jim B ~ Hope you're feeling better, don't push the miles and remember to stretch.

Kat ~ I love getting new shoes! Feels like christmas all over again.

Amy ~ Hope you had fun in your 10K!

Way to go Warriors, I hope everyone had a fun race.

As for me, I got 6 miles in on Valentines day before I headed out to San Francisco for the day. We went to brunch at Absinthe and if any of you watch Top Chef...the executive chef at the resturant is Jamie from this season. She actually came out of the kitchen for a bit and came over to where we were sitting to talk to someone...that's my exciting celebrity encounter! Other than that it's been pouring rain the last few days and I've been lazy because my back has been hurting, I guess I need to stretch more! ugggg.

Have a good day everyone!

Oh yeah, ImMarcik PM Tracy your email address and she'll send you a link for the spreadsheet and just plug in your numbers. Easy..even for me;)

Roxy, I'm sorry for your loss. WISHing that you can smile as you remember.

Wow we had a ton of racers this past weekend. Great job Warriors!

Hi Team--great job on those week-end races!

Well, I got out for a slow, short run yesterday to see how my hamstring handled it. Not too bad. Actually, it didn't hurt almost at all during the run. And the first half hour after I got home was fine. THEN, boy did I feel it! But it settled down a bit later.

Today I had a long PT session (and I am counting that for minutes because it is WORK and it hurts!) I was also cleared to do some biking, so I did that this evening.

Sunday = 2.7 miles; 35 minutes with stretching
Monday = 16 miles biking plus strength at PT for a total of 2:20

Tomorrow is another day! 20 days till my TRI!
