FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

heheh I knew you would find me =) I still wish you would go in Feb too =( We could have at least met up once for lunch or something.

I just got an email from Disney Rewards Visa for specials through December. Not us yet but that means the next time codes come out it will be for January/February. :cool1:

This is exactly what I thought when I seen this yesterday :cool1: Don't know about you, but I am somewhat concerned, mousesavers and wdwinfo were not first to release this info, it was here on the dis on the resorts so I will be keeping an eye out here for sure..

I called today and booked ASMo for 2/9 at AAA rate for $84.25 w/tax.
I also booked the WL Woods View with Bunk Beds for 2/14, 2/15, and 2/16.
With AAA 2/14 was $170 and 2/15, 2/16 were $369! I couldn't believe it. Guess we won't be staying there. That is a little much for us.:sad1:

That's good to know. I'm thinking that October is when the next dates will be released but that's just my thoughts. :confused3 I do have a Disney Visa and got the email from them before it was posted here so hopefully that will happen again. Only 169 days left and counting for me. :hourglass

Yea I had figured for October as well, thats when they had come out the last two years. I dont have credit cards I am a cash only person but am now seriously considering applying for a Disney Visa.

Does anyone know historically when discounts come out for Feb? I have booked off site but if i can get free dining or some other great code for the week im going I'll book on site.
What type discounts are usually released for early Feb?

We applied for the rewards card and i am sure we will be approved as i have another card through the bank (Chase) that offers the Disney Rewards Visa.

I think Disney has offered the free ticket upgrade from base ticket to hoppers with water parks and more. I don't know if that was last January/February only or if they offered it for January/February 2006 as well.

I think the AP rate at the value resorts was $59 last year. I'm locked in at the AAA rate of $65.60....so, I'm hoping for a miracle to beat that rate....or free dining would be nice as well :)

Speed :teleport:

Speedyf- did i mention THANK YOU to you for mentioning the AAA rate last week(I beleive it was you, if not, than thank you to that person!!). I got it too and i am thrilled! If AP is cheaper, even by a few dollars, i will do it. Hey it is more $$ for something else! Even if the AP rate is $64 like it is for December w/ those new codes it will save me a total of like $15. But hey, I can use that for some Mickey Mouse ice cream bars!!
I thought about bumping up to a moderate resort, but NAH!!! I LOVE the value resorts(wish the beds were queens though!!) and the whole decor of them. I have stayed at POR before and did not like it any better or less than AS Movies or AS Sports. I did get lost more often at POR. I think if I ever upgraded to a moderate I would like CBR or POFQ(which is cute as can be and very "homey"(haha!!!). My ultimate, but unless I become a millionaire I could never justify paying the prices, would be the Poly. It seems so otherworldly and beautiful. But we am paying for 9 nights at POP what 2 would cost there. I am very frugal as you can tell!!:rotfl: So I will be pleased to visit the Poly and do the dinner show and watch the fireworks from thier beach! Maybe i'll even enjoy a pina colada!! heeheehee!!pirate:
I will add the others to our list soon. Gotta get to bed soon!

I contacted AAA to get a quote and the room only rate they quoted me was more expensive than Disney rack rate. Disney quoted me $956 for room only, AAA was $1,187.13. The package through AAA was like 50 cents cheaper. :confused3

Does anyone have the details of the Disney Rewards Visa discount? I know it's only good through the end of this year, but I'm thinking of applying for the card in case they come out with discounts for early 2008. Currently, I'm booked through AAA (they were way cheaper than Disney), but if I can tack on an additional discount through the Disney credit card, I'll do that!

I found the same thing Lori. I emailed my local AAA, and the package that they quoted was more than the one I could get on the WDW website.

However, when I called WDW and asked for the AAA room only discount, it saved us $400!!!

I saw on another thread that people were getting some pretty good savings. It is best if you are flexible with dates and flexible with your resort. Some of the discounts were in the $400/week that I saw. I have the Disney Visa and I was sorely tempted to change my dates! (Or go and extra time with just my DH!) ;)

I read that the general code that came out shortly after had the same discounts, just different rooms and different availability. I even saw some people that couldn't get what they wanted with the Visa code, but got it with the general one.

Why does it have to be so complicated??? It's like a big game...trying to find the best deal! The problem is, I'm such a bargain shopper that if I don't feel like I'm getting the best possible deal, I feel like I've been cheated. I can drive myself crazy sometimes!

One other thing to think about it with the Disney Visa when you book with Disney, you get 0 % financing for I believe 6 mo. So I am sure you could use a general code, but pay w/disney card for 0% financing.

You are not the only one who's going crazy with bargin shopping. It's actually addicting.

I got the $65.60 rate by calling WDW reservations and asking them for the AAA discount. I have not gotten much luck lately by actually USING AAA travel agency!! crazy! You'd THINK they'd offer the same discount.

My DH works for Chase ans refuses to get the Disney card. I may mention it to him about onl using it for Disney and taking advantage of that 6 month no interest thing-is that only on packages, or anything in WDW???

Completely agree with you! I've got a spreadsheet with a million different options, like AAA room-only, AAA package, AP discount, VISA discount, etc. Just waiting to plug in the numbers to see what's cheapest!

The 0% financing is only for travel (I believe), but the visa does get you a discount at several Disney stores and some restaurants, too. And a special photo op at Epcot with characters!

Speaking of the AAA rate, does anybody know if the discount is typically blacked out for CR MK view rooms? We have two of these rooms booked 2/15-2/22 '08, and were told when we booked the rooms months ago that the '08 rates had not come out and so we could not apply the AAA discount. Now that I have received the '08 rates, I called to give more deposit money and find out about my usual AAA discount. I was told that the discount was not available for my rooms during my time of stay.:scared1: I am thinking now that it was sheer dumb luck that has allowed us to use the AAA discount every single time before, and not an automatic thing. However, because of the sheer dumb luck, if that is what it was, I assumed the AAA was automatic. Right now I am booked at rack rate and, without that AAA rate, am thinking about either cancelling or changing to a less expensive resort. Can anybody give some info on the realtionship of the AAA rate to CR MK rooms? I am feeling sick. I have been craving this trip.
