FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Hey Lori ~~

Congrats to your DD!!! How wonderful!! I'm going to do something special for her when the time gets closer!! ( On our last trip I was a fairygodmailer to some boardies kids - what fun!)

We will be there from the 3rd - 9th for Mardi Gras. We are staying at AKL or the Poly, we are still trying to decide!! So, yes, I'll be there for my b-day again, funny thing is DH and I discussed the Luau for my b-day also!!! LOL

As far as the pre-ordered desserts - you can order as many of them as you'd like. I will try to find all my info on that and pass it along.

Your DD's will Love the P&P party ~ you'll have to dress them up!! It really is a lot of fun........ I just found some more pics I need to load in photobucket, but the Jack in the parade is MUCH better than the Jack at the meet&greet!!! Yeah, Tink was cute, she was looking right at DH and posed for him!!! LOL We had a blast that night, but boy was it COLD!!! I wish we had waited till the one 2 nights later........ much much warmer, you didn't need a coat!! Anyway, let me find my info on the other and I'll post it for you!!

Slipper Dessert
$12.50 @ CRT - $14.00 GF
PRE-ORDER ONLY - call 407-824-2222 OR if your resort has a bakery you can call them. When you order you will need to pay at that time. You will probably be asked for your ADR # as well, as to where you'll be dining so this may be served. Of course if you order from your resort bakery for in room dining this won't be necessary.

You can also pre-order for boys, dog bones - I think $12-14.

You can get Chocolate Covered Strawberries - 6 for $25 they also have them with a tux.

There is also a mini-wedding cake avail. I think it's $25 also - not certain.

Welcome to the club, i have my touring plans ready to go, and waiting til i can book ADR :yay:

GOT MY AP TODAY!!!
I had read about getting it early before prices increased and since the year doesn't start till activated, well, I am ahead of schedule, huh!!??!!

Getting tickets thru DH's job for rest of immediate family- we get 20-25% off!

I got the AP for the DDE and hotel discounts(and maybe another future trip to the world sooner than DH expects!

Lori

BTW-Wendypooh, thanks for the link to that thread-how WONDERFUL! I really had NO idea they got that elaborate with cakes-we had a B/day there for DD7 when she turned 4 and the cake was Mickey and Minnie, but very simple. Also, we went to the Disney Store today for AP and my DD's decided that they wanted to dress up as PIRATES for Halloweeen(07) and WDW trip(08)-DD9 wants to get Elizabeths costume in Singapore (she also has an extreme interest in Asian culture, so this one fit right in) and DD7 wants to dress up like Jack Sparrow(like your DS). Hopefully you will be able to tell a female is under the garb! I brought her home a pirate hat from our DL trip this past March-that is all she wanted. She is my kid who knows what they like and sticks with it so I think it will be FUN!!!

Hey Lori ~

We went to the Disney Store a few days ago......... got some things for the trip...... LOL I saw the costumes..... the Elizabeth one is darling, I loved it!!! Of course DS wants the Jack one........ for the coat!! I'm hoping like crazy they do the P&P party in Feb. ~~ it was so much fun, I'm really looking forward to doing it again!!

I love that cake thread ~ I'm ordering a couple of things for our trip!!

I love what he has on in the photos!! He looks great! I will definitely be ordering something cake-wise, for our trip! DD7 loved the costume too-it looks very much like the movie costume, we thought. LOL, DD9 has been interested(like reading about it and watching things on educational channels) about Singapore(and we had an aunt who lived there), Japan and China. Even Egypt, too. DD9 immediately went for Elizabeths Costume. Hopefully they will go on sale at some point. Spending $120 on costumes is really steep for me!

I really miss the Disney outlet in Gonzales! And now the one in Foley just is disappointing:sad2:

Hoping for P&P party, too!

Lori

BTW My brother and SIL live your way! Have you been on the New Orleans boards? We have a couple BR people on it, you are welcome to come check out a bunch of fun gals!

I was just on ***************** (they have the schedules for the next year online) anyway, just wanted to let you know that they have 2/4 and 2/7 and 2/11 and 2/14 list as Princesses & Pirates. We are planning on being there from 2/10-2/14. Can you tell me what it is? I have three children 9,6, and 4 (at the time of our trip). Is it something they would enjoy? Is it included in your tickets or is it extra? Thanks for any info.

Do you know when the AP price will go up and/or by how much....still on the fence about whether to go with an AP now, or wait until we get there (thinking of doing the dining plan which would mean buying single tickets and I heard you can't combine single tickets into one longer ticket (DH not getting AP as he won't be there long enough) so I'm torn.)

I love what he has on in the photos!! He looks great!
LOL ~ Lori ~ Thanks!!! In the pics what my DS is wearing I made!!! He was mad cause it wasn't "Jacks" costume!!!

BTW My brother and SIL live your way! Have you been on the New Orleans boards? We have a couple BR people on it, you are welcome to come check out a bunch of fun gals
No, I haven't been to the LA board, I'll check it out!! We are actually in Prairieville, where are you B&SIL? Your girls are darling by the way!!!

Apparently the mods deleted the website you posted!!! Anyway, The P&P Party is an after hours party. Yes, it is a seperate ticketed event, meaning that it does cost extra - we purchased our tickets early so they were cheaper than buying the day of - we picked them up at our resort upon check-in. It is great fun, there are TONS of characters everywhere, almost all the rides are open, your get a "treat bag" to go around and get beads/candy (loot). There is a parade and a Jack Sparrow meet & greet, which was the best part for DS!!!! A page or so back are a few of my pics from that night! There are all sorts of things going on.......... YES, your little ones will LOVE it!!!! A lot of people dress up ~ as you can see from my siggie pic. I'd say it is a MUST do!!! We will be doing it for certain, based on your info there will be 2 parties while we are there!!! WHOO HOO

Here is a link to some of my Pics from the night we went; http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v357/pgawidow/Pirate Party/

Wendypooh- my DB and SIL live in Gonzales (but used to live in Prairieville)-I think they are close to the border of both. DB is a juvenile detective for Ascension.

I am going to find out if that is true about the P&P party!!

As far as an AP goes, I got it for the hotel discount that I am obviously looking for via this thread and mousesavers,TGM, etc. I also got it FOR the DDE. I figured out(almost to the penny:eek: ) that it would save me more $$$;) overall for our trip, than not getting it and paying for seperate PHpasses for us all. (By about $300 depending on hotel discount.) If the hotel discount is not as much as hoped, then I really don't lose out- I just wind up paying what I would have otherwise. The DDE is $60 and since we are doing the Ohana dinner($200 for the 4 of us, with DDE it will be $160-ish) it almost pays for itself for that one meal-and we plan on hotel hopping on our off days and trying out places at AKL and WL.

I do not know when the prices will go up-one sight said they go up when passes go up and the other said they go up at the beginning of each year.
I just decided I needed to go ahead and get it either way. I have been saving for this particular trip for so long and booked my hotel(even though we may change to POP)-I really feel like it is partially official now!:cloud9:

BTW- you did a FANTASTIC JOB on his costume!!I wish I had the talent!
I had a lady from church make thier Colonial costumes last year(they love American Girl dolls and books, etc) and she did a wonderful job. Maybe I'll have her make these pirate ones if DS doesn't put them on sale(I just showed her a picture of what i wanted and she made it!)

We made our plane reservations last night, so we are officially going to WDW in February! :cool1: I cannot WAIT! Seriously, I am worse than my 3 1/2 year old DD!

Whooo Hoooo!!!!! Now, have you gotten your ADR's picked yet????

Sheesh, don't encourage me! ;) I'm already bad enough about trying to plan this whole trip RIGHT NOW!

I KNOW we have to go to CRT. DD (3 1/2) will flip when she gets to eat in Cindy's castle! We didn't do it last time (Feb 06) because  she wasn't into Princesses yet.

Last time we had a ressie for Coral Reef that we didn't make. Despite mixed reviews I'd like to try it. And last time we had a ressie for the Contemporary at fireworks time for DH and I, which we also didn't make. This time MIL is coming with us, so I really hope we'll get to the Contemporary.

So, I've definitely started planning my ADRs! Now just a couple of months to wait to be able to make them!!!!

We are near Hwy. 42/44 in Prairieville - do you know where Manchac Harbor is? The big lighthouse? We are right there. It really is " A Small World" LOL

BTW- you did a FANTASTIC JOB on his costume!!I wish I had the talent

It was fun and he just loves Jack!!! He still wears that around all the time!!

I had a lady from church make thier Colonial costumes last year(they love American Girl dolls and books, etc) and she did a wonderful job. Maybe I'll have her make these pirate ones if DS doesn't put them on sale(I just showed her a picture of what i wanted and she made it!)

I know ~ I think making them is more fun - plus the one's at the Disney store are $$$ DS wants the new pirate one - he loves the coat!!! We'll have to see about that though...........;)

I'm telling you if the rain does not stop!!!! Arrgggg ~ I'm gonna turn into a BAD pirate!!! pirate:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: OH You came to the WRONG place!!!! I'm so crazy, I've got DS looking at menus and we're planning out which day he can go play golf!!! LOL We ate at CRT in Jan. 06 for the first time for my b-day, it was amazing!!! I've always wanted to eat there! She'll love it!! Also, don't worry about Coral Reef, I've read the same bad reviews, we went this Jan. 07 and enjoyed it so much, we ate there twice in Sept 07!!!! We just love it!!! Make sure you tell them when you make your ADR's that you'll wait for a table next to the tank!!! It's worth it! Which Restaurant at the Contemporary?? Was it Concourse Steakhouse? - we ate there in Jan. and it was really good.

If it was the Cali.Grill - never been - but would like too!!

What are your dates?? Lori and I will both be there over Mardi Gras - my dates are the 3rd - 9th, I think hers are a little bit earlier - not sure!! We can all just plan together!!! ( for the next 7 months!!):woohoo:

Lori...

Just wanted to give you some insight on the ticket upgrade thing.

Last year (June 06), I was able to get 2 tickets from a friend's cousin who works at WDW. They were 6-day base tickets at the CM discount rate. The alpha-numeric code even had "CM" in it. I also picked up a couple of tickets from Ticketmania at their discounted rate.

We decided to go for 8 days....and I was worried (like you) about losing the discount. I posted to the DIS and found out from some very knowledgeable people (former CM's included) that I should bring it to the Magic Kingdom Guest Services area for the upgrade.

According to my info last year....most people who were trying to upgrade their discounted tickets at their actual resorts were losing the discount. However, at the MK Guest Services Window, I was able to upgrade without losing the discount.

The poster told me that at the MK Guest Services Window (and maybe Epcot as well), they do some kind of "7700 code" or "9900 code" which brings your discounted ticket up to regular ticket price, then they upgrade it and you pay the difference without losing the discount.

Apparently, most of the CM's working at the hotels are not familiar with this special code or maybe they don't have access to this code....so when they upgrade your ticket...you lose the discount.

Of course, this is June 2006 information....but, not much has changed with the tickets since then. I think I ended up paying $4 or $8 (can't remember) per ticket to upgrade from the discounted 6 day passes to 10 day passes.

On a side note...just returned from our summer trip and I'm ready to get into planning mode for the next trip. We have a meeting this weekend with our group of 20 that will be making the trip in February for the Mardi Gras holidays.

Speed :teleport:
