February 19, 2011 Magic Western - Presidents of the Caribbean!

I need to recheck what I've packed b/c the forecasts for all the ports are 70's-80's. I don't think we need to worry about being cold. Will it be cold at night on the ship?

i wouldnt Totally toss out all the warmer clothes....
my hubby is there now and its only ( only ,lol) 60-65, i think as the sun goes down it will get chilly....

Can't believe we leave tomorrow morning! Can't wait....see everyone on Saturday!

I've been following many of your posts concerning packing and can't help but be amused. I'm always in awe of the family who boards the ship with just a couple of rolling duffel bags. My family, on the other hand, brings enough luggage to hold an outfit for every conceivable weather event!!
We also are leaving early Friday morning and I am no closer to STARTING the "packing event" than I was a week ago. Probably why I'm waking up at 4AM in a panic!
While chatting with Disney Cruiseline folk yesterday, the very helpful woman told me that, even on Formal Night, men are not required to wear sportcoats, let alone a suit, tux or even tie. She said as long as my DH wore a button-down shirt, that's acceptable. I was surprised to hear that and will be curious to see how many menfolk abide by that guideline. DH will be wearing his suit, our DSs (ages 13 and 11) will wear dress shirts and ties.
Someone had asked about the temperatures on the ship at night. Pretty comfortable, but I always like to have a lightweight jacket or shrug for myself, especially if my top/dress is sleeveless. Sometimes, the air conditioning can be chilly. However, I pack summer-weight PJs for all of us. You can always adjust the temperature in your cabin and ask for additional blankets if necessary.

I can procrastinate no further, it's off to begin packing. Now, where'd I put that darn Packing List. . . ?

Thanks for the insight, my DH is refusing to bring a sports coat. I told him the rest of us would eat without him <3 He will be glad to hear that he won't get booted from the dining room. We aren't leaving until Saturday morning. I'll be worried until we get to the port. But, we are using Disney transport. So, since the luggage goes straight to them and the weather is looking okay.... My 8 year old has grown out of everything. I have to hit the outlets this afternoon. I still have to pack. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. We really need a vacation!!:banana:pirate::littleangel:

Can someone post the Presidents of the Caribbean Cruise logo? Please and Thank you :thumbsup2

I am almost done packing. DH just started packing & now says he won't be wearing a tux for formal night. He is packing a suit. I planned on bringing a floor length dress b/c he said he wanted to wear the tux. So, now I'm wondering if I should just bring a cocktail dress instead of a full length dress. Would that be okay?

I am in Florida now watching the news- BREAKING NEWS....the Shuttle Launch has been postponed until FRIDAY! which means we will be at Castaway Cay when it Launches.......Hopefully we will be able to see it a little in the sky!

it would be reallllllllly cool to see the shuttle.....

Nemo: LOTS of upper respiratory stuff going around...........Tylenol and rest...antihistimine (sp) will dry him out...may be mucinex....all kids size...

KEEP THE FEVER DOWN WHEN IT'S TIME TO BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure he's no health risk BUT they really frown on FEVERS!!! Best of luck...see you Sat

We are packing tonite...weather its in my closet or in my bag for a week, we're taking the same junk so we pack tonite for tomorrow's flight......

my countdown tag is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! I know it's nothing serious. He has a low fever & a bad cough. I am keeping him home to let him rest. I am just worried it will develop to something worse tomorrow.

Also, DH says he needs 2 suitcases for all his stuff! He always packs more than me, but he's never needed 2 suitcases for himself. So, it looks like we will have 6 suitcases plus carry ons!!! My goodness!

I can't believe it's here! I have been planning this cruise since summer 2009! I can't wait to see the ship!

nemo:

we began talking of the trip in 2009 as well....its been a long journey to this 7-day journey.

I hope to have 3 bags for 3 people and a couple of carry-ons........we're not very exciting, I guess....;)

shuttle is now the 25th....we'll be closer to port and MAYBE see something...THAT WOULD BE VERY COOL or, as we used to say when I was a kid, GROOVY!

Yes, seeing the shuttle would top off the cruise. I hope we can get updates on the cruise so we know if we'll see it.

That would be great to see the shuttle launch :3dglasses

I think we will have 4 suitcases. I was trying for 3, but decided the cost of the luggage on usair isn't much compared to the whole cost of the cruise. I want everyone to have want they want to wear. I know most are leaving Friday for Florida. I hope everyone has a safe trip!! We will see you Saturday:banana:

We are in Port Canaveral!!! :cool1:

It was dark when we arrived but I'm sure it is gorgeous (snow bank free!) We are heading to the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow and then maybe a dip in the pool.

DH is looking for a seafood dinner tomorrow night - any recommendations?

We booked in 2009 too! Can't believe the board has been going that long. I remember being excited when we were only 300 days out.

Spoke to friends who left today, they said it was 80 and sunny. All packed and ready to go just have wait now.

Bill I'll see you at MacArthur tomorrow, dropping the truck off in Patchogue then heading to the airport.
