We received our cruise documents in the mail! :cloud9: I am so excited but starting to feel the stress of packing and planning. I tend to overplan as my DH would say so I have been trying to do the opposite for this trip. So far, we have no port adventures booked and I am not sure if we are going to book any. Is anyone else doing the same?

Got our Docs yesterday too.....as far as Planning/ Ports...We ( umm humm ME) I wayyy overplanned the last disney cruise so trying to be better this one....

For key west: we are just going to do the on/off train and maybe hit the aquarium.

Grand cayman - i booked this:

I have done absolutely NOTHING! This is our second western, so I think we are going to wing it! Just chill!

Got our documents yesterday. We booked excursions in Cozumel--Cozumel Highlights and Mayan Ruins, Grand Cayman--Dolphin Encounter and Turtle Farm. In Key West, we are just going to walk around on our own, but definitely have some Key Lime Pie while we are there!

In Key West, check out the Butterfly Conservatory. It's at the other end of Duval St. so it's a bit of a walk, but from what I've heard it's worth it.

We are getting excited too. We got a fresh 6 inches of snow to cover the other layers of snow and it seems we may be getting more next week. Knowing that we will be cruising in a few weeks definitely helps with the winter cabin fever.

Snow days also lend themselves to organizing and packing.

I hope we get our documents soon:cheer2:

Only a few weeks left.

Oh and welcome to our newcomers.:welcome:

:confused3Lastly, for all of the experienced cruisers out there: We have late dining which means that we have a later breakfast on departure day, right? So is a 9am car pickup ok? If not, what time is safe for getting picked up at port? We do not need to rush to the airport.:confused3

9am is fine, I believe late breakfast is at 7:30am and yes, late dinners end up getting the late breakfast on debarkation

my kids ask on a daily basis why we cant go on the cruise tomorrow!!-- still can't get the concept of tix or reservations!!! 1 degree yesterday morning here, snow today, tomorrow, and next day-- joy, joy, joy.......just want my toes in the sand already :cool1:
also starting to get concerned abt flights in this snow-- we might be driving to port!!!!

from past posts--little MUST things I am packing
I have 8 bags in the dining room filled w/ vaca stuff--mostly FE gifts... DH is thrilled......

Sound machine- we all sleep w/ one--
Sea sick meds
Dont Freak--- Bed Bug Spray-- saw it in the travel section in the store- got suckered-- so decided to pick some up- not paranoid but why not?? too many itchy stories going around... they are sm bottles
over the door shoe organizer
air freshener
that wrinkle spray everyone suggested
stain stick
power strip
nightlight

I have been thinking about the wrinkle spray & stain stick too. I just don't know how I am going to pack all this. We fly SWA so I don't have to worry about baggage fees, but that's alot of luggage to haul around w/2 little kids. Plus, where do you put everything in the stateroom?

I was thinking the same thing Nemofans and decided to make a Walmart run for the wrinkle spray, power strip, sunscreen, etc. And now I may add bed bug spray to the list. Has there been a problem on the Magic? I've been dealing with too much snow to fully research it! :headache:

all the sprays, wrinkle, bug, etc... are travel size no way I could fit all reg. size bottles...w/ 3 kids and me and my hubby's stuff.....and thats why I am also bringing that shoe organizer to put all the little stuff in...might even keep some stuff in the suitcase that i wll not be using too much so i can put all the essentials in the organizer..... I have not heard any bed bug probs on any ship and do not want to start any rumors either.... but like I said they had it in Bed, Bath & Beyond and was excited to be getting all my vaca supplies and I said better safe than sorry-- it freaks me out a little I must say when i hear all the stories in the news but it smells nice- supposed to be all natural so I guess it cant hurt...is it neccessary?-- prob. not!!

As I said before, I have a tote going in our bedroom for all the "stuff" I come across that I want to bring. I recently added some room spray from Bath & Body (nice small aerosol bottle) & a few outfits for the kids.

I read some place on these boards to pack each child's outfit in a gallon sized ziploc type bag. This is my new favorite tip. My kids are like little tornadoes when they get into their bags looking for something & outit all comes & the mess left behind-even when they clean up is horrendous! So now-grab a bag & go. I love it! I will do socks & undies seperately though. Plus it packs so nicely!

We have been getting slammed by the snow-looking at another big storm this week. At this rate we wont have another 5 day week of school for months & we'll be going to school well into the summer. In the last 3 yrs we had 1 snow day & 1 delayed start. So far we have had 4 snow days this year! Welcome to New England.

My daughter wants to get on the boat every day. She just doesnt understand why we cant! The mind of a 5 yr old-come on Mom, just make it work!

wcw57-I cant send PMs until I have 10 posts! Guess I'm too new to be trusted!

Cathy

Any good recommendations for motion sickness meds for kids. I called our pediatrician and they only recommended dramamine for children.

I have been thinking about trying the ziploc bags this trip.

Our cruise docs have not arrived yet! I check the mail in anticipation every day.

I've finally made plans for our excursions... what a relief!

Key West we'll just wing - we're the only ship in port that day according to a website I found so it shouldn't be hard to get tickets to the on/off trolley. I almost bought them on line but decided that since we're driving through the night to get to the ship I may be too tired - so we'll play that day by ear.

Grand Cayman we're doing a Disney Excursion - the Island Tour and Stingray City snorkle... I was going to do that one on my own but got lazy :rotfl:

Cozumel - I just made reservations at Nachi Cocum - I read about it here on the Dis and while it doesn't sound like as much fun as Paradise Beach for my DS who is 11 - there are supposed to be 4 or 5 other ships in port that day and I wanted to be someplace that wasn't packed with people.

Now .... I wait!

Jacob is 11 - he's a 6th grader in Edison. Which elementary school do your girls go to? Jacob was in Tamaques.

annnnnd now I'm humming the Small World song ........
Yup, another Westfielder here! (hi Lisa! and welcome Bonnie - wonder how many more of us there will be...) I have 1 at Roosevelt, 1 at Wilson, and 1 at Christopher Academy (Jackson is THRILLED he'll have Jacob to hang out with!)

Does anyone know what the weather will be like on the trip??? I have no idea what type of clothes to pack. The last time we did this cruise it was June/July and it was scorching. I'm thinking it might be a little cooler this time, especially at night.

Has anyone done a Carribean cruise in February before?

Hi Susan! I find it amusing that it's been our husbands who have been chatting about our vacation. Rich is not usually a talker.

I've only been as far south as Florida in January and I've been able to go swimming most of the time - we were at Disney at this time last year and they were in the middle of a deep freeze. I plan on bringing mostly summer clothes with some cover-ups for the evenings on deck.

Tell Seth I'll send off an email to you at his account - I don't think I have yours in any of the old soccer emails.

just wanted to PUT this on the 1st page for all the newbies.....
