I cannot attest to the washability of the pillowcase. It depends on your method of application and choice of transfer paper. I have a ton to do before we leave -- one of which is to see if I can find a tshirt place that will do the transfer for me. I think it will have a greater chance to be washable if I can get them to do the transfer for me.

To get the signatures, just put the pillowcase in a ziploc and drop it off at Guest Services on embarkation day. They'll deliver it to your stateroom on the last night of your cruise.

HTH.

Hi Lisa, Have you been able to add my children's names yet? Also can you PM me how I go about downloading and transferrin it please. I loved the ones you did a month or so.

I have a list, and am clear about liquids that can't be brought on the plane. My question is about prepacked crackers/gum/lifesavers, etc. Can we bring those through the checkpoint, or do we have to hunt for them on the other side? I prefer the individually packed lifesavers, because they don't get gross, and I usually buy them for everyone at Wal-Mart before we go. I checked the TSA site and Southwest, and there was no mention. Do you think my assumption that I can bring them is correct? I wouldn't bring anything that has filling, just plain ole' gume and indiv. packed lifesavers.

(Wow, if I am this far in my planning, the trip must be getting close!!)

Have any of you had experience with this?
(I know I could have asked on the main forum, but I was here, and I am too lazy to switch--gotta get stuff cooking for the big game.)

Sue, My husband is a pilot for United Airlibes so I have a little info. It is only on carry on that they have all the restrictions. If you shoot your bags through there will be no proble. If you are bringing them on carry on they just can't be gels, toothpaste, oils, syrup and things like that more than 3 ounces. Crackers and lifesavers should be fine.

I am hoping to work on names tomorrow unless I get called in to work.

Sue -- the only thing that is forbidden through carryon security are liquids and gels. Candy, chips and gum are okay as long as there is no gel or liquid in them (specifically in the gum -- no gum with the squirt centers).

Liquids are limited to three ounces or less that fit inside one quart-size ziploc bag.

No toothpaste! My son was berated for pulling out a tube of toothpaste in one of the airports when he came home from Iraq and Okinawa for having toothpaste. It got through security (which he didn't know it was forbidden) and when he took it out to brush his teeth (since he had been traveling a long time), he was thoroughly tongue-lashed for it. He had no idea what the big deal was. He put some in his mouth before he surrendered it.

When should we start receiving our cruise docs in the mail? I am just so excited I am ready for all that stuff to be here.

On the terms and conditions like at DCL, it says 28 days, however, it is widely posted in the forums that most receive their documents about 14 days prior to their sail date.

Regarding our discussion of what can be taken through security in your carryon bags (purses, computer bags, carryon luggage, backpacks) . . . .

I've heard of someone that wasn't allowed to carry peanut butter and jelly sandwiches through . . . the peanut butter was fine but the jelly was not. The same might be said for poptarts and other things that have a filling that is kinda jelly-like.

Hi Everyone!

I am in the final stages of compiling the list of our group. I am hoping to get it completed and sent out this weekend. I will try to use the PM board to do it, but I don't know if I can send an attachment through it. If not, I'll send it to the e-mail addresses I have. (I'll let you know how it goes, and when to expect it.)
If anyone has updated information, please send it to me by Friday. I'll make the final adjustments then and will get it ready to send. After I send the list, you can send me updates and I'll forward them to everyone. Also, if I have info incorrect, just let me know and I'll fix it.

Just as a final reminder, here's what we are collecting for the list:
DISboard name, Name, Sex, and age of travellers, Where you live (city/state), stateroom number(s), dining time (early/late), pre-cruise hotel, e-mail address.

Thanks!!

Good to know! I was thinking of getting the kids each a bag of snackfood or crackers of some type. I'll make sure they have no "goo" in them ;) . I am happy to hear about the gum and lifesavers. Those are a staple when we fly. They definitely help with the ear pressure!

Sue:

If you email me the file, I can post it on my webserver, give you the address for download, and you can simply PM the link to the members of our cruise party.

We booked our cruise on 9/14/06. In four months, the cost on our Cat 6 room has gone up $400 and our cat 11 room $274.

For our 2/24 cruise, we booked on 11/24 and now two months later - that Cat 6 room has gone up $600. The initial price was $1000 lower for week 2 than week 1.

Just food for thought!

I would have thought that the 2/17 cruise would have escalated in price more than the 2/24 but maybe I missed the drastic price increases because we booked four months out for a more popular week (week 1).

I have a question about taking wine. Is that still a big no no or can we check it as lugage?

For the airlines, you cannot carry it on. You can bubblewrap the heck out of it and put it in your checked luggage. I've done that before for a Carnival cruise. I suggest purchasing those really big ziploc bags to put the bubblewrapped bottles into just in case one breaks (unless you like wine-stained clothes and wine perfume). ;)

If you're driving in or making a stop before getting to the port, carrying on wine is not a problem at all.

Don't forget you can ship it ahead FedEx! That's what I did - with a bunch of other stuff. If you want the info I can forward it to you. I sent vodka, rum, baileys, mixer, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice (I didn't want to have to search the ship for the juices - even though I know they are there). Yes Lots of bubble wrap in my packages too!

Oh just incase you are all wondering - it's not all for me - my sister-in-law's family is going too :cloud9:

a few more options...

So, Glory-Anne the party is in your room right;)

We generally take a couple of bottle of wine with us, to have in the room with the cheese plate before dinner, we have the second seating, so it is nice to have a snack.

Can you post the address you shipped the items too?

I have read that they will not accept shipments of water and other liquids. But . . . I've also read where people got there shipment of alcohol through however it was before the new guidelines for carryons.

I checked into shipping alcohol to the ship last February and I was told by a shipping company (that deals with UPS, USPS and Fedex) that it is a prohibited item. This was in Louisiana.

I did call Integrated Distribution Services before I pack up my things and asked about forbidden things to ship to them - I told him what I was sending and he said it was fine. FedEx never asked what I was shipping. As far as what the Cruiseline takes is another matter. I would guess that it will be x-rayed. I'm sending it to Housekeeping...if it doesn't get to me there won't be any party in my room!!:scared1:

Here is the info - basically straight out of the passporter:

This is the best tip out of the Passporter Disney Cruise Clues! I called and all of the info is correct. He did say to send out the packages this week - I guess sooner is better!

FedEx Ground was the preferred method
have your door signs, wine/beer/champagne, decorations, snad toys, gifts for kids, and whatever else you wanted shipped to your stateroom. Basically I'm sending things that I know won't need space in my bags on the way home!!!!!

It arrives anywhere between before you get to your room at 1:30pm-ish to before dinner the first night. (this is what the book said)

You send your packages to:
IDS, 9001 Marlin Street, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 and include the following:
ATTN: Disney Cruise Line Housekeeping
STATEROOM: (enter cabin —they’ll get it there)
PASSENGER NAME: (your name here)
DATE OF SAIL: (make sure box arrives three days before your cruise sails); VESSEL: Magic
NUMBER OF BOXES: (1 of 2, 2 of 4, etc.).

There is no fee other than what FedEx charges you to ship it there. Disney Housekeeping will deliver it to your stateroom free of charge. [Editor’s Note: Call Integrated Distribution Services (IDS) at 321-799-9100 or e-mail idsftz@aol.com to confirm this address and procedure before you make your shipment, just in case there have been changes or they no longer offer this delivery service.]

I've already taken my chances!

There was a big thread on this a while back. I remember some people trying to send water from Staples, etc. and it was denied. I don't know if the thread mentioned boxes packed by people to send to themselves. I'll try to do a search and locate the thread later if I have time.

Here's one thread. It seems you can ship beverages, but no mention of wine... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1251809&referrerid=&highlight=shipping+water+to+ship

back to the search!

here's another one! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1008896&referrerid=&highlight=shipping+wine

also, there is a reference to it in the sticky with the faq at the top of the cruise forum
quote: Sending packages ahead of time to the ship:

Each package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date,
stateroom number and packing slip that details the content of the
package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient.

Do not send bulk packages of water, they will be outright rejected.

Packages, boxes, gifts, etc:
(Excluding food, beverages (liquor, water, etc.), other chemicals and
luggage)

IDS c/o (Ship Name) / Ground Services
Guest Name / Stateroom #
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Friday for Saturday and Sunday
sailings. Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Wednesday for Thursday
sailings.

So, it appears there is mixed information about this...
