February 16, 2014 DREAMing!

Thank you, taswira! I will definitely check out GNC.

Today I spent a lot of time looking at menus - so far it doesn't look like there is anything I can eat anywhere but Cabanas. I eat extremely simple food - due to allergies and food sensitivities...and I prefer plain food. No mushrooms, onions, most sauces, no pepper, garlic, scallions....the list goes on. ;) I have no trouble at WDW because the Chef's are wonderful.

Looking forward to seeing Karin back again!!

Christine - You will need to notify DCL of your food allergies (via phone AND the medical form if your allergies are extensive), then be sure to confirm it with them after you board. The chef should meet with you to discuss it. They will work with you to come up with things that will work for you.

We booked with a friend of mine who is a Disney Cruise Specialist and so,e imcreomnumber of Disney cruises - know best commissions are in cruise bookings. Anyway, so shall I have her contact DCL and where do I obtain a medical form? Thanks much!

I am a CDK trained Disney Cruise Specialist also, but no longer work at it. ;)

The form can be downloaded here. Unfortunately the only mention of special dietary needs is a note near the bottom of the form. Your TA needs to contact DCL with COMPLETE details of your needs. Since it is a ship with thousands of guests, obviously they can not accommodate extensive requests, but if you can somehow simplify those requests, they'll do whatever is possible.

Thank you! I am used to keeping it streamlined - usually, it seems to be very easy for Disney chefs to accommodate, so hopefully it will be the same on the Cruise. :)

It isn't as easy as on land, but they will work it out with you. Just be absolutely certain that the chef comes out and speaks with you directly. Don't rely on the servers to pass on info, as sometimes things get lost in the translation and relaying. ;)

It's going to be an EXCELLENT cruise! Only 357 days away! :lmao: pixiedust:

Poor Christine, I am sure they will work it out for her , she could ask for Fried Chicken every night and I have a feelin she would be HAPPY! Me I plan on experimenting , escargots maybe, and some of the different soups , but if Tiramusi is a dessert choice I will definatelty be happy!!!

Will be sure to speak with the chef - they are the ones who always offer to simply leave off a sauce or make a plain steak with veggies. All will be fine - even if I live on ice cream!! ;)

By the way, my daughter has been a VIP corporate TA for 20 years and I have kept up with the DCK but no longer have any desire to work as a Disney TA - never wanted or expected to take a cruise!

357 days! :cheer2:

Rosie, you got that right about the fried chicken!!!:rotfl: I will enjoy watching you experiment! ::yes::

I became a TA was because I was a wildlife photographer & safari director, leading photo safaris in Kenya & Tanzania. It was easier to have the credentials to take care of everything myself. My addiction to Disney led me to the CDK training & advanced training. It was only when they offered a "Disney Cruise College" agent education program that prompted me to cruise. Before that I NEVER had the slightest desire. It only took one to get me hooked! :goodvibes

No longer active as a TA. Still an occasional wildlife photographer, but have probably done my last safari. DCL suits me better now. ;)

How wonderful! For many years my dream was to go on an African Safari, but I entered a monastery, left during VAT II, then had kidlets, opened my own business- no time for Safari. ;)

So you were a nun, but no longer? For how long? You must have had some very interesting travels and experiences. :goodvibes

I miss safaris, but I look after my elderly mom now and can't get away long enough for that. Thanks to her, I started traveling internationally at 17 and have been most places I wanted to visit, so I feel that I owe her. I took her on a few Disney cruises and she loved them (especially the Magic), but she recently let her passport expire, then she turned 90, now she doesn't want to travel anymore.

PM sent!

And ............. we are back! We had an awesome time on the Dream. Felt like a huge family get together as there were some of last year's cruisers and some of our favourite CMs on board as well. :thumbsup2

We got back rather late on Sunday due to a snowstorm in Frankfurt/Germany , so the plane left late and we barely made our connection to Austria. No fun to come home to a lot of snow after having wonderful and sunny weather in Florida. ;)

We're baaack!!! :dance3: Karin, know you will not see this until you are back on land, but couldn't wait to share our good news!

Did LOADS of vertigo research and I am just not willing to give up trying a new adventure! My former Boston neurologist has never been on a cruise (I called him back and asked). Turns out his opinion was based on what he had heard, not definite. So, I told him I wanted to take a chance and would be prepared. He was very nice. I think neurologists are used to people makings up their minds about trying new adventures.:thumbsup2

I think it is going to be great!!

Christine, you have no idea how happy I am that I can put you back on the list of cruisers. :woohoo: This is going to be so much fun.
And I will pray that you will not be affected by vertigo. All these things are so new to us .... we usually are not affected at all. (Well, we are affected by time flying by, but that is it. :rotfl2:)

For each of my cruises I have a habit of creating a personal website to help keep me organized and keep my enthusiasm going. My site for this cruise is HERE. It includes menus, ship info, a links page and more. Anyone who wants to take a look, feel free to ignore the "personal stuff" about me! :coffee:

I will be updating the site through the months ahead. :surfweb:

I looked at your website and it looks great.
I have a VERY strong feeling that I have actually "stalked" you in the past, gathering information. :rotfl2: Did you use another avatar some time ago?

Hi everyone I just booked this cruise :wave2:

I am taswira's friend. (yes, the one with vertigo) I am sailing solo with my own cabin on this one. Love the new ships, but DCL didn't really think about friends sharing as easily as on the classic ships.

I'm on Deck 12.

Ah, solo sailing. I just did my first completely solo sailing and I totally loved it. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I found it to be easy and pleasant in most cases.

:welcome:
Yippie, I love to see the list of cruisers grow! :dance3:
I know definitely that I read lots of your comments on other threads. :thumbsup2

Christine, can you eat oven roasted chicken, baked salmon and grilled steak? They usually offer these as "healthy" options. They usually come with either rice or a baked potato and some veg. Tom and I both opted for those for our pirate's menu as I do not like it.
I am sure the chefs can work something out for you! I really would love for you to experience all the dining rooms.
Stupid question. Will it make you sick if your tablemates eat something you are sensitive to?
Last year we had someone on the table next to us who told everyone on the tables around him not to order shellfish as it would make him sick. It was an awkward situation. ;)

Thanks! :goodvibes And yes, I have often changed my avatar. Sometimes Chip 'n' Dale with my name (Shari), sometimes me in Capt. Tom's hat, sometimes a Meez graphic (blonde in t-shirt that reads "Over It"), sometimes Pal Mickey on the edge of a hot tub in the spa on the Magic, etc. :rotfl2:

Yip, then I need to bow my head and give in and let you know that I DID stalk your posts. :rotfl2:
It was when you used the avatar where you wore Capt. Tom's hat that I researched :coffee: and I found a lot of interesting facts in your posts. :thumbsup2
Thank you so much!

:lmao: You are most welcome! :goodvibes

I tend not to post on the rest of the Dis anymore, but will be active on meet threads for the cruises I am on. And I just can't kick my habit of doing a website for each cruise! :rotfl2:
