But since we have at least 3 families for a latecomer group, we can keep the groups separate--just to avoid confusion.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I would love to start a latecomer fish extenders group. Here are the details (I posted the same details on a new thread, but can't seem to repost the link here, so I am just repeating the info):

Did you miss the sign up for the Fish Extender Exchange for the February 15th-February 22nd, 2014 Fantasy Western Caribbean 7 Night Cruise? Join our latecomer fish extenders group!

Fish Extender (FE) - This is a fun "game" that is like a Secret Santa type idea. A Fish Extender (FE) itself is a pocket panel/bag you hang from the fish shaped hook outside your stateroom. Families that join the FE group hang the Fish Extender outside their cabin and then, as the cruise is underway, participants deliver little gifts to the others participating in the group by leaving them as a surprise in the fish extenders. Who doesn't love presents it's a ton of fun, not just for kids.

The deadline for this latecomer sign up is Friday, January 31st, 2014.

Guidelines for our fish extender:


1. All gifts are to be delivered between the cruise leaving port on Saturday, February 15th until 4 PM on Friday, February 21st. This gives people time to still be able to pack their bags before we leave the ship the morning of February 22nd.

2. As far as the gifts... you can either give one gift to each cabin, or a gift to each person in the cabin. It is the thought that counts. There are no strict rules regarding gifts (no minimum or maximum dollar value). Gifts can be homemade or storebought, Disney, non-Disney, totally up to you!

3. Please feel free to attach your DISboards name to your gift so we can know who to thank :

To take part in the FE, please private message WebsterFamily the following information or just post it in the thread below

-DISboard name
-stateroom number
-name of adults and children (gender and ages) in the cabin
-any other pertinent information i.e., celebrations, allergies, and anything else you want us to know
-your email address...I will email the final list to all participants.

If you are uncomfortable posting any of the personal information, you can simply say whatever you are comfortable with.

After the sign up deadline of January 31st, I will complete the list and email all participants a copy. Then youll know how many FE gifts to prepare with the cabin number of where to deliver it.

Hi WebsterFamily, I love your idea of creating the latecomer group. I'm actually in charge of original FE list, and my email box has been bombarded with questions regarding this post, over the past couple of days, but have only been able to actually look at them now as I've had a crazy schedules these last few days (I work at Magic kingdom have been training a new cast member last week and started a temporary assignment to the fastpass plus team today, as you can imagine it has been crazy with the preparations to roll out fastpass plus to all guests for testing on Tuesday, I have a lot to learn, in a short amount of time!) lol

With the original list we actually had a Google drive document up with details on it so folks could add themselves, and it will save a lot of time. I have created one for the latecomer group. There may be members of the original group who will wish to participate in both if they have the time, so I am going to encourage them to sign onto the new list in addition to the original list if they wish to do FE for latecomers. This will also give the latecomers a chance to give them an FE gift. On the 31st I will automatically close it for you and create a pdf document that folks can print and will make sure its posted to both disboards and our facebook group. This way members can start preparing there FE gifts before the list closes as they will have an idea of what they need to get. (The crafty types will appreciate the extra time this gives them!)

I am asking you please add everyone who may have PM'd you to this list, so we can keep the formats the same for everyone. Also during the meet I will have a master copy which I will be noting room changes etc. on, and on the first night I will be delivering an updated list to all cabins with any cabin changes, etc. As I will be walking the ship anyway, a few extra rooms will make no difference at all!

The answer is YES there is a latecomer FE list that is being created after the suggestion of a new group member.

I am suggesting we keep things simple, so everyone still has a central contact point to ask questions about FE's, as well as to try and keep the experience as clear and consistent for everyone. Therefore I think it is important that sign up and documents are done in the same format as the original FE list. This will also make it easy to include folks on the Facebook group, that do not use disboards to keep updated, and allow the crafters to craft their FE gifts, as folks sign up, as otherwise two weeks may not be enough time to prepare , especially if they have no idea of the status of the list. (Also a lot of members now mostly connect of the facebook group, and this will make it easy to manage the late list.)

I am new to this forum. I just heard about fish extenders for the first time, and was very disappointed to find out that I had missed the deadline. Are there any other families sailing on the Fantasy Western Caribbean Cruise departing on 2/15/14 that might be interested in a fish extender gift exchange (that also missed the deadline)? Thought it might be worth asking!

My husband and two boys (ages 8 and 10) and I can't wait to cruise on the Fantasy!

I just discovered the FE concept over the weekend. I planned to fill our own with goodies for my family since I expected all the groups were full. But I'm happy to do an exchange with you. Maybe we can start our own modest group? I am travelling with my husband and my 8 year old son. Let me know your thoughts.

New to this post but me, my Wife and 8 year old DD are really starting to get excited for this Cruise!!! 1st time on the Fantasy. Previously got hooked on DCL on the 12/23/12 Dream Holiday 5 night and booked this cruise on-board on day 3! Hope to have a great cruise with all of you!

Hi, welcome to our group. We're looking forward to meeting you next month. There aren't that many rules for the FE the basic ones are that you give at least one gift to any other stateroom which is on the list, although some people give one per person, others give one for the adults and one for the children. You also need to make sure you Fish Extender is hung on the fish outside your cabin as soon as you can on arrival day, as quite a lot of folk like to deliver the gifts as soon as possible. Finally, all gifts need to be delivered by Thursday evening, to give people a chance to pack them before the luggage is left outside the cabins for collection on Friday.
