I am a single mom traveling with my DD 8 and DD6 on the Feb 14 cruise! We are actually part of a group of 9, with 2 DN's - 14 and 11 as well. I hadn't expected to be a single mom on the cruise, so I'm just now finding the energy to get out to the boards and do research. I'd like to meet up with folks on the cruise if possible, as we are doing 4 days at POFQ and WDW before the cruise. Hope it warms up in the next month! We are traveling from CA and it's unheard of to be in the 30s in FL this time of year, right????

Our kids are very close in age - my DD is 7 (will be 8 in May) and DS is 6 -- guess they'll be meeting up in the club (my kids cannot wait)

We will be in WDW before the cruise as well -- hoping for warm weather and low crowds (although Saturday just might be busy)

I have been reading about the FE and we are thinking about joining in because I know that my DS and DD would love it, but my only concern is the amount of packing space these items would take up in my luggage. Having never done this what are typical gifts? Can you just gift the family a little something then put something extra for the younger ones? Any insight would help. Thanks.

Woo hoo found some neat stuff at Walmart tonight. First I found some dangly sparkly earrings that look like mickey heads (my daughter informed me I was obsessed)! I found a child's pirate costume for $5, some Valentine's party favors, and decided on a messenger bag iron on kit for my FE (my daughter asked if she could decorate it, and she really has some good ideas). It is getting harder and harder to concentrate on work these days, sooooo excited!

Some ideas for FE themes:
Valentine's Day (of course) and Chinese New Year are on Feb 14
Mardi Gras is Feb 16
Winter Olympics will be going on during that week
Daytona 500 is on Feb 14

Being from Louisiana, Mardi Gras would work for us. So is it little things? Do you need to have something for each individual in the cabin?

CRUISENOW: You can absolutely do anything you want! You sound like you are on the right track. I'm doing goodie bags with candy and maybe a few little misc items, along with a postcard from my town. I am concerned about space, too, but I figure once the FE gift are distributed, that will leave room for souveniers!

Good point about preparing room for the souvenirs. We will join in. We are in cabin 8516. I look forward to joining in. If possible could we drop ours off on Tuesday since that is officially Mardi Gras. Thanks.

We are also doing goodie bags for each room for the FE, but may taylor slightly depending on if it's adults only in a room, etc. I know the kids are going to love getting stuff each day. Fun, fun.

welcome to all the new ones that I have missed the last couple of days... What about a meet on that Sun.? When is the best time to have a Dis Meet? The only other cruise I have been on we had a meet right after the lifeboat drill but that would not work on Disney , they start their sailaway party then. I am not missing that. So maybe like 1 hour prior to the drill. So now where do we meet. Maybe somebody that has been on the Wonder can sugest a spot and time.

That is kind of what I am doing, Just a goody bag for the room but will add in kids stuff that fits that age group in the room.

I am really getting excited about the FE. I am doing a goodie bag for the cabin and then special items for the childrens. I found awsome pirate beach balls and pirate playing cards. Also for the kids I have valentine pirate tattoos, valentine pirate notepads, sword pens. Of course candy for everyone!!!!!!

The meet on Sun before lifeboat drill sounds good, I'll look at some other threads to see where people tend to meet. Deck 7 is definitely an option. I also read that some groups bring/pass out those bright rubber bracelets to more easily identify fellow DISers throughout the cruise, don't know if we could get hubbys to wear them, though!
