February 11, 2006 Roll Call

Wow! we're in 1056!! what's the likelihood of so many of us being right there together. i mean of all the people on the ship, we end up chatting! Sorry i missed most of the chat last night. But you're right, it sure is nice to finally have a cabin assignment! And i was surprised ours was Cat 9. Our TA told me Disney never gives upgrades :scratchin So, Deck 1 is okay though? I was worried about engine noise. Well, hopefully I'll remember about the next chat and be there earlier! I need someone to give me their to-do list so i won't be so overwhelmed! So far i have a small box in my daughter's closet with 2 pair of sandals, a pair of swimshoes, and binoculars!!!! :rotfl:

JDIANE - May I ask where you ordered Pirate costumes from? I've been checking our Disney stores here and they've been sold out and I'm not sure where else to look.

As for packing a couple of suitcases we just moved to a new house and I fiqured that if I didn't pack then I would be digging in boxes trying to find everything last minute. Like everyone else I have holiday pounds and then some to get off so it's back to the gym I go. :worried:

Sorry, Disneymum... i missed this post before now. I ordered them from Costume Craze. I think it's website is costumecraze.com. I checked lots of sites but ordered from there because they had a toddler girl costume (no picture, so i hope it's cute), and bc they were less expensive. I did find other sites with some cute things though by just googling child pirate costume. lots of options were out of stock though. My hubby isn't big on dressing up, so i think i'm going to have a Tshirt printed that just says PIRATE on the front. ;) One site had that shirt with an eyepatch as a costume but they were sold out.

I also need to get a magnet board for the door now that so many of us are on the same hall!! we can leave love notes. :rotfl2:

JDiane, Thanks for the information on the costumes.

Wow, it does seem unusual that 3 of us would have cabins so close together. I did a search on another site and it had customer reviews on some of the cabins and it seems like everyone agreed that Deck 1 is fairly quiet and the motion of the boat isn't felt as much when sleeping, which is a good thing as I'm not sure how my soon to be 4 year old will be on the boat.

We cruised with our son when he was 15 months old and he slept better than he ever does! of course, i always sleep better on cruises myself. that slight rocking just rocks you off to sleep. my son is 3 now, so maybe our boys can get to know eachother and have fun in club together! i'm not sure how much my son will be willing to stay there.

DisneyM, how smart though to pack while you move! we just moved too and that never occured to me. in my defense, we moved in about 2 weeks over Xmas and it was crazy. :scared1: hopefully i'll be able to find everything we need. i tried to leave out summer clothes and stuff like that, but i already know my dress shoes are in storage. Sigh.

JDiane, I just started back to the gym (very, very much needed :) ) they have a kids club and my son went on his own without me being paged yesterday. So here's hoping that it continues on the cruise! We will definitely have to introduce our kids maybe it will make the transition to the club a little easier on both of them and we can sit back and relax for a few minutes anyway. :sunny:

As for packing, I just fiqured that I would have to box the clothes anyway so I might as well box them in the suitcase. No genius there, more like laziness. lol.

Hey, can someone who cruised before tell me about the fridges in the room? I know they call them a "cooling box" but I wondered how cold they stay. my kids are allergic to milk and we're going to have to bring soy milk. i'm wondering if the box will stay cold enough or if i need to bring my little car fridge. just one more thing to try and figure out!

Hi Julie, it was great chatting with you, dean and angie last night. I am sorry I was so late that I missed everyone else. While the cooler boxes in the staterooms aren't as cold as a regular refrigerator, they do the job. We kept juice and water in ours and they were sufficiently chilled. I think milk would probably be fine in them. They aren't recommended for people who need to store medications, but for beverages they seem to be just fine. Thanks again for arranging the van back to the airport. I can't wait to meet everyone!

I'm very bummed to have missed the chat last night. Picking up kids from basketball practice, and forcing everyone shower and to bed, and washing school uniforms for tommorrow consumed my evening!

 I'm driving my friends CRAZY obsessively planning and discussing this trip. So, I missed the opportunity to talk with people just as EXCITED as me!

I read on a recent thread in the main forum that the Disney Magic is listed on the Cozumel port website.......it looks like we will really go there!

Susan

ps. Thanks akaratemom for responding to my son's inquiry for 12 year old boys (fbplayer42)! LOL......He thinks it's really cool your son plays waterpolo. It's probably the ONE sport he hasn't tried!

Alright needed to vent. I am so excited for this trip and yet everytime I talk to my TA I hang up angry. When we originally booked everything we had a different TA and she made promises such as if you go this route this is what you will get. Anyway long story short she was"let go" now new TA who took her position is saying that we do not get any of these things. Not that they are big thingsbut one thing for example is a $150 on board credit for each room. Well I have two rooms so that is $300.0 (that would cover drinks anyway-alright probably only part of them) :rotfl2: I just told her on the phone that I wasn't very happy. We have booked everything from transportation, week at Disney, air flights, park tickets, cruise, EVERYTHING. The few things we were promised should be honored. I am being irrational? Do I have a right to be upset? All right I feel better all ready.

We just got our room # yesterday!! 1036!! my dd(14) allrready has the route memorized to get to our room! shes bummed because her friends are on the 6th floor! but i think we are going to like the 1st floor!! i see there are a couple of you down there with us! we booked a gty 12 and got upgraded to a 9!! veryy excited!!

Hi Dory

Sorry, to hear that your having a hard time of it. Listen have you contacted Disney directly to see if maybe they have it on record that you receive the onboard credit. The previous TA may have set it up already. You don't have anything to loose. I would also be speaking with the new TA's Manager, alot of these places have taped lines if you can remember the day and time that you spoke with the previous TA tell them to pull the tape. I hope that you get something out of it, keep us posted.

Jdiane, Did you advise DCL that your kids are allergic to milk, especially your son who is registered in the kids club incase he wants to go with the kids to eat.

I am waiting to hear back from a supervisor. I think what bothers me the most is I went with a well known TA so that this kind of thing wouldn't happen.

Dory, did your TA send you a confirmation with your OBC listed on it? My TA had a promotion going at the time we booked and she listed my OBC on the sheet.

No it doesn't have anything on it. Oh well, thats the way the cookie crumbles. This is going to be such an awesome trip that nothing is going to ruin it for the family!!

Sorry to hear about your TA problems Kenda--- I hope it all works out. It must be very frustrating!

Well it's not much notice but maybe we can try to plan another chat for sometime on Sunday. I know our west coast cruisers are having a hard time making the 9pm EST since it's the middle of dinner. Would it help if we pushed it back to 10pm EST (7pm PST). Let's give it a try. Looking forward to chatting with you again.

I think we pretty much determined that we were going to meet after the sailaway party in the promenade lounge. For those of you who have cruised, please recommend a time to meet.

"Talk" to you soon-

Dean

Thanks everyone for the info on the soy milk! That thread was great. It never even occurred to me to find out if Disney would have soy milk. We were planning on buying like 14 cartons of the stuff that doesn't have to be refrigerated until opened!! I am going to send in the medical form right away and see if that works out. We'll still probably bring some of our own, but it would be great to get some from Disney during meals and stuff. We're just so used to carting the stuff around, i never thought to ask. Actually, i did ask my TA and this was another of those things she didn't know. And we booked with Small World Travel who are supposed to be the Disney experts! thank goodness for the DIS board!

Kenda, i would definitely be frustrated. my hubby just asked the other day why we bother to go thru a TA. i wonder that sometimes.

i hope to see everyone at the next chat! i'm going to try and remember this time!

Julie

I know the next time I won't be. Anything I know about going to Disney I have read here or in books. I find anytime I have asked the TA a question she says let me find that out for you and I think I can find it on here faster than she can. If it wasn't for this board I'd be going away blind. For example my TA never mentioned anything about a mud adventure!! :cool1:
