February '09 Wonder Cruise meet!

How's everybody doing with their packing??? It always takes me longer than I thought but I'm making steady progress.

Gary/Garbo621 Thanks for all the great tips. I've experienced that version of 'baggage launch' loading on a previous trip to St. John. While amusing to watch- being careful of what one packs in their luggage is a must.

Back to packing!

Garbo -- Great tips! Thank you!

I am happy to share that I made some progress on the packing front. 99.9% of the kids warm weather clothes have found their way into their suitcases. :cheer2: (And the crowd goes wild)

Of course, it's not the KID's stuff that I usually procrastinate on getting ready and/or packing, it's MY own. :scared:

I'll surely be up early morning Saturday (ie. 2am) still ironing and packing.

Last year, we went to WDW prior to the cruise, so we were totally wiped out by the time we got on the ship. I missed SO MUCH of the evening activities (not typical of me, I'm a night owl) because we were running around so much the few days prior and during the day in port (it was only a 3 night). I'm going to make a point to RELAX and ENJOY this trip. :cutie:

Gotta go get the kiddos' bedtime routine started... this time next week.... ahhhhhhh I just can't wait! :goodvibes

popcorn::

Those of you with younger children. Break out some small shovels and pails or go to the dollar store when you get here (Florida) and buy some cheap shovels and pails for the beach. They really get you for the Shovel and pails/beach sets on board and on the island. Also if the stuff gets lost or left on the beach you haven't spent a lot of money.

6 more days to Go! :cool1:

:surfweb: Good morning all,
5 day's till our Grandkids come and 6 days till we sail!!!!!!!!!!! We are so exicited. We have company so packing has stopped .They leave on thursday so I will have two day two get the rest done..... HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!

Woo Hoo....my 19 yo is packed! And has the nerve to say he doesn't have enought room! Too bad! We are ready to roll!

3 more days! I'm so excited....can't wait to get at least some sunshine....but weather.com is not cooperating with me!!

So what am I doing the next few days so I don't get bored, anxious and impatient.....of course...more magnets!!!!

Packing!!! I have not even finished figuring out what I have left to buy. I did get DS's summer clothes purchased this weekend. Kohl's was having a big sale, so I just went ahead and got his entire wardrobe for the spring/early summer. I found some things for me, but shorts are not out in NC yet. I did get my FE gifts done, so I am making progress. Packing will not happen at our house until Friday night.

DH is disabled and needed new batteries for his wheelchair. They finally arrived today! He can now move about the ship by himself.

Glad to hear the 19 year old got packed. My DH won't pack a thing until Saturday morning as we are heading out the door. How did you manage to get your son to pack?

Everyone here is excited and Saturday seems a long way off - until I think about what I have left to get done :)

OK...I'm having weather stress....:headache:

We're expecting a 'weather event' on Wed night/Thurs morning with snow and freezing rain. My route to the airport Thurs am (more like in the wee hours of the morning) is headed south which will mean more freezing rain than snow. YUCK.

I just decided to get a cheap (although not as cheap as I would have liked) hotel for Wed night just so we wouldn't have to deal with the freezing rain. That has now shortened my packing time.

Then to add to my stress- I looked at the extended forecast for Nassau. :sad2: I need to be reminding myself to breathe and recognize that it is too far out to get an accurate read on the weather a week from today. Oh...and any rainy day on Castaway Cay is better than a sunny day in my office. Yes, there are showers in the forecast. Then again- showers in the Caribbean usually mean partly sunny with a 20 min rain sprinkle at some part of the day where as showers in NH mean a day of grey and on and off rain.

Sigh....breathe....I'm going to WDW!!!! :wizard:

OK...back to the regularly scheduled program....work!

Hope you guys have a great day! :thumbsup2

Liz - don't fret too much! You'll be on vacation soon. :boat: I think getting that hotel room for Wednesday night was a good idea. Better safe than sorry, huh?

My DH has been watching the weather in Nassau too, but the report he found said that it won't rain until the evening. :umbrella: Let's hope and pray!

To quote Bob Marley: "Don't worry about a thing - every little thing's gonna be alright!"

Ahhh...yes...now if I put on my sunglasses and pretend my coffee is a nice rum drink with an umbrella in it....I can already feel the worry slipping away...

Of course wearing my sunglasses in my office will have my work colleagues thinking I've gone off the deep end!!! :rotfl:

I would sooo rather be home packing then about to head into a meeting!!

Later-

I have 2 more days and I can't contain my excitement.....everytime someone says "hi" in the office I just up and down and say "2 more days" .....they think I'm crazy......I'm just going to have to bring some kind of candy back from Disney for them.....for putting up with me! LOL Maybe a Chip 'n Dale nutty mix.....LOL:rotfl: :rotfl:

Printed more magnets out, but I forgot to print my Mickey ears for my door!!! On my to do list for tomorrow.....unfortunately, I have a meeting tonight and won't be home until late tonight.....but will I stay up and try to get those things done....of course.....love the torture!!!

Just realized that I'm packing a jacket for the cool night....a jean jacket and if it starts to rain....I'm screwed!!!

Well ladies...it can't rain.....I wished upon a star!!!!

My DH and my oldest DD are still not packed!:scared1:

They drive me nuts with their procrastination!:sad2:

I need a little room in their bags for a few things so I may have to shift things around.:wizard:
Let alone that the we
ather isn't cooperating, so I have to swap out some shorts for pants/jeans for the kids.:confused3

I drove my DD nuts all the way home last night singing and dancing in the car....lol. Then we blasted Radio Disney and sang some more. DD and I were practicing our swing dance moves last night.
And the baby learned how to Shake it like that, Bend over, let me see your tail feathers, and M-I-C-K-E-Y, see ya real soon! too cute!:woohoo:  :mic:

Yesterday I recieved my big digital picture frame from work for my 20th anniversary. I cannot wait to fill it with cool pics!!!

Pixie dust that the weather gets better!!!!pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: :beach:

Hey...20 years...that is very cool. :thumbsup2

I just completed my 20th year with my company this past Nov. I didn't think anybody was a crazy as I was to do that kind of time at the same place of work!!! Part of this cruise was paid for with my 20 year bonus check (which actually was more of a joke when you divide it by the number of years work but hey- I'll take anything extra these days).

Happy packing and I'm right there with the good thougths and pixie dust :wizard: for good weather!

Good to know I will not be the only one up all night Friday night. I have one last Federal brief due on Friday and then I can vacation. I love that the court has gone electronic which means the filing deadline is midnight from my sofa instead of 5pm downtown.

I got my FE from Tiffany last week. She does a great job!

I am stressed right now at work and packing, but I promise I relax once I get on vacation and I can relax just as much as I can stress about work and getting things read for vacation. So I'll be good to go just as soon as I get everyone and the wheelchair onboard on Sunday!

This is my first vacation without a connection to my office and while I am sure they will be fine without me, I am a little nervous about leaving.

Hi folks! Well my travel mates (who are heading to WDW pre-cruise) are flying out bright and early tomorrow morning. It's their family's first trip to WDW and I am SO hoping they enjoy it. I pulled together a 12 page "must do/can miss" list on the four theme parks based on our many trips (as a single adult, married without kids and then married with kids perspective) and shared with them as many tips as possible. There are six of them all together and even though it's the 'happiest place on Earth' (and I REALLY believe that it is), it's so easy to fall into the day-to-day family interactions (kids of course get understandably tired, often times hungry, and eventually crabby) so fingers cross they have a blast and can't stop talking about it when my family meets up with them on the cruise on Sunday!

I haven't made any progress on the packing front since Sunday, but I did treat myself yesterday (the kids had school and my husband had to work, but my company gave the day off) and I got a pre-cruise pedicure (otherwise my feet would surely frighten the folks at the airport when I had to slip my shoes off to walk through the security check -- I haven't had a pedicure since August when I walked the Susan G. Komen 60 mile walk to fight breast cancer -- my feet took a SERIOUS beating (the first day we walked in 8+ hours of torrential rain) and were messed up for a while (I was afraid to put my blistered, worn down feet into anyone's foot baths for fear of infection or something like that). SO now my toes are pretty and I got a hair cut. So two big things out of the way. I also had a SUPER productive day at work today, trying to wrap a bunch of things up tomorrow and Thursday before my last day in the office on Friday. I agree Saturday (when we fly out of Boston) feels SO FAR away, but I know on Friday I'll be running around and packing like a maniac.

Okay -- I'm tired and obviously VERY chatty with my too much information about my gnarly feet.

1 more day....wooohooo!:cool1: :cool1:

woke up bright and early to print my boarding pass.....ummmm....thanks Wendy for the wake up call!!!

Didn't do a darn thing yesterday....had my meeting and it ran until 11pm....darn Boy Scout meetings!

So I work a full day and will work my tail off....so afraid that I will forget to do something while I'm gone!! I'm hoping I get everything done before 5pm...don't want to work late!

Well DIS friends...it's that time! :woohoo: Time to head for sunny Florida and the beautiful Bahamas! Can you believe it's finally HERE?!:goodvibes

I'm praying for safe travels for us all. :cloud9: For those of you who head out today or tomorrow - have a wonderful time at WDW! The rest of us will see you on that big beautiful boat on Sunday!:yay:

Can't wait to MEET you all!:grouphug:

OH MY GOSH! I just realized we leave in 72 hours! Okay, the freaking out is beginning to set it...so much to do...can't wait...ahhh!

That was me SCREAMING! I AM SOOOOO STINKING EXCITED!!!!
4 more hours of work! Then it's the "try to get some sleep" plan in action...ROFL!! Like THAT is going to work at all!
DH is STILL not packed....DD is about 50 % packed.
I wanted to straighten up the house a bit before we leave. I don't want to come back to a mess.
I think I got about 2-3 hours of sleep last night. But I'm too tired to remember! lol.

I'll be checking in again later, I'm sure. To say a final goodbye here. Then it's just a matter of days till we meet IRL!

I hope everyone has a safe trip out! And keep spreading that pixie dust for good weather!
