Another PA native here! I'm from Philadelphia originally but graduated from Elizabethtown College...right in your neck of the woods Cathy!!

Looks like Pennsylvania will be well represented on this cruise. We are going to Disneyworld 10/6-13th as a warm up for the cruise. Will anyone else be there during that time? I can't imagine not telling the kids. How are you keeping the suprise. It must be killing you. They will be so excited when you tell them. When is the big day you are going to spring the news?

It is killing me to keep it a secret, we go to wdw at least once a year. But we are not taking the kids this fall as usual. Our oldest is devestated :guilty: I have been tlling him things like "what a bummer" and maybe next year.
We are telling them on Feb. 2. I will drop him and her,Sarah4, at school, run home, pack the car. Pick them up and drive to the airport! They will think its a suprise trip to WDW, So they will not actually know till we check into a hotel by the port!! I don't know what is more exciting, the cruise or suprising the kids!! :cheer2: :woohoo: :rolleyes1 ps. I don't like to lie to my kids, technically I am not. We are not going to WDW.

I have been reading the trip reports and am really getting excited about the trip!

We are going to fly in on Fri. before and stay at the Radisson. Is anyone else have plans yet??
:rolleyes1

Great to meet all the PA Folks! Glad to see our state will be represented. Jackie - I grew up in Downingtown, Chester County! 45 minutes outside of Philly!

As for our plans, we will be flying in on Saturday morning. Don't have any details yet as the airfair was part of the cruise package and I understand that Disney won't get you any information until a few weeks before departure. Anyway - just as long as I make it onboard! pixiedust:

I'm in cabin 6074. Anyone else on deck 6?

Cathy

Another Pennsylvania couple here. Gail and I live in Erie, Pa. which is in the northwest corner of the state. We'll probabably fly down on Friday an stay at WDW, taking the DCL bus to the Magic.

HADD!!! (Have a Disney Day!!!)

We have not yet made our flight arrangments, but will probably come in on friday. Not really sure where to stay. Thought of staying in wdw and renting a car for one way drop off to the port on saturday.

We are in room 6624.
Can't wait to meet everybody.

Just bumpin' up this thread! Did everyone have a good holiday? I did, even thought it means the theoretical end of Summer! (SOB!!!) :(
We've been to St. Martin and St. Thomas before so we don't think we're doing any excursions. We'll probably just go ashore to walk around a while.
Take care and keep the thread alive!!!

HADD!!! ::MickeyMo :earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MinnieMo

The kids have been back in school since the 28th :teacher: .....took a quick trip to PA to visit my parents over Labor Day. It has cooled off here in MD....I love the fall!

I can't believe I am doing this, but my DBF (dear best friend....did I make that one up :rotfl2: ) talked me into taking a short 3-day cruise on RC in November for her 40th!!! Am I nuts! I figure it is my warm up cruise!

Only problem is that I will be away for the 75th day mark so I may have to have DH make our Palo ressies!! (I so don't trust him!!) I WILL NOT STRESS OVER THIS...I WILL NOT STRESS OVER THIS!!! :worried:

My DS (6) pirate: is now in Kindergarten having just started on Tuesday. I am getting ready for our trip to DW on October 6th. It's kind of a warm up for the cruise. I already bought him some pirate stuff pirate: for the pirate night onboard ship. I'm so excited for this trip I can't stand it. Anybody have any good ideasfor passing away the time until the cruise, or fun ways to count douwn with your kids? Does naybody have any plans for excursions yet or any ideas?

Take Care,
Tracey

I can hardly stand the wait!!!! The hardest part is not telling the kids. I have never "hid" a trip before. But I really do want to see their faces when the realize whats happening. I do believe this is our last school year trip.3rd grade is alot of work!(can't believe how dumb I really am  )

DS was in third grade last year during our Eastern, and I will say it was not bad at all getting him caught up. He did a little extra each night after we got back (the school would not give out assignments in advance), but he whipped through them pretty quickly.

He is in 4th grade this year, and I admit to being a bit more nervous about the homework situation. However, the teacher seemed willing to give him some assignments in advance, so that will help.

Do you guys all have the web cam links for St. Maarten and St. Thomas? The Magic was on an Eastern this week, and I was able to watch the ship in both ports! That was fun. Let me know if you need the links and I will try and post them.

I wasn't too worried myself until I attended "Back to School Night" last night and heard the teachers talk about the kids not missing school! (my twins are in third grade also!)
I'm glad to hear you didn't have too much to make up PiperG!

Vic32....hang in there and keep that secret! It will be so worth it when you pull up to the ship!

I haven't decided on any excursions yet. I am still thinking of staying on the ship at one of the ports to enjoy the ship...I was thinking about the stingray adventure at CC, but the kids are alittle freaked out about the Steve Irwin tragedy. Does anyone else have plans??

I just added some goodies to my cruise bin (thanks to the Labor Day sale on the Disney web site!) I got a cute pirate tee for me! Anyone else have any goodies put away?? :listen:

I think it will be ok. We get our memory work for the whole quarter at the start of each quarter. So that we can do ahead. He can do work in the cabin I guess. I will wait and see what his teacher gives us. He will just have to do tests when we get back. He does 3-4 a week. But 2 are spelling and reading so thats easy. I am not going to sweat it. It will be ok!!

Are there people that don't dress up for Pirate night? Or maybe just wear a t-shirt or something. Or is this a costume party?

I am only going by what I have read....I think it is a mix. I have t-shirts for the kids and I. DH wasn't interested :) I think some people go over the top and others just wear normal-non-pirate clothes...any repeat cruisers have more info??

Piper, could you post the links? I'd love to see the ports!
Thanks! pirate:

Tjeagle- I also added to my cruise attire during the labor day sale :thumbsup2 . I got matching shirt and dress for me and my DH. I also got matching tshirts for the whole family and picked up some mickey polos for all of us. Trying to decided if I should hold on to them or wear all this new stuff in October when we go to DW.

We started a paper chain a few days ago to count down the days we have left until our trip to DW. It is fun and my DS (6) pirate: loves it. He take a link off every night before bed and is excited to see the chain get smaller.

By the way, how do you all get the cool pictures and fancy stuff around your names and at the end of your notes. I'm not very good with the computer. Is it easy? If it is could someone give a hint on how to start?
Thanks.

Hang in there with the wait

They had some great deals! I got the polos too! I saw a pix of a family who had their lifestyle portrait taken in different color polos and tan pants...they looked great! (So I am "borrowing" their idea!!)

To edit your signature you can go to the red bar above the treads, click on User CP, there you can creat a signature and avatar. You can use the smiles offered to spruce it up!

Let me know if that helps! I love your paper chain idea! I may borrow that too! ;)

We all watched the DCL special last night on The Travel Channel...it was from 2003 so the ship has been updated since it originally aired...but it really go us all pumped up! :woohoo:

I've got a t-shirt and mask to wear for Pirate Night. pirate: I got my Cruise Planning package from DCL yesterday! Did anyone else get one? I was busy last night but I'll be checking it out tonight. We're definately doing breakfast at Palo's! :thumbsup2

Tjeagle,
I ordered the new DCL cruise plannig DVD, got it about two weeks ago. Gail and I watch that to get our DCL fix. popcorn::
