Just back, planning next trip and want to take the cruise again. When should I think about booking for a Feb 2004 trip? Does anyone know historically if there are discounts available? Thanks for any info! (The last times we went I paid full rack rate, didn't know discounts existed)

If you are planning on going during President's week (Feb. 14 for the 7 day western) You should do it now. I know when I inquired 2 weeks ago, the rooms I liked were booked up. You will not get any discounts that week. I'm not sure about the other weeks in Feb.

Good luck, happy planning and have fun!

We were on the February 8 Magic this year (2003). We booked in February of 2002, and the rates did nothing but go up. There were no last minute discounts.

We booked through Dreams Unlimited, so if there had been a decrease they would have honored it. I find that it is best to book early with a travel agent who will honor the price of the cruise if it lowers, that way you can lock in the early booking discount and still be protected if the price is lowered.

By the way I was very please with DU's service. In fact I've booked a cruise for my husband and I on RCCL with them as well for next year.

Oh! Well, I'd better get going then. We are taking the week after President's Day, so hopefully that won't be a problem. Would you have any cabin suggestions? I stayed at the top level one year and hated the chair moving every morning. For our next cruise we went down a level and found the noise problem better. My DD was pretty young last trips, how is the sleeper sofa as compared to the extra bed in the "better" cabins. So many questions! Thanks for your help!

I recently (like a couple weeks ago) booked for the Eastern 7 Day the week of Feb. 21, 2004. There were no more Cat. 11's on Deck 7 (we like Deck 7). So I would take that as a sign that it is starting to fill up. I am sure there are many other rooms open; but if you like specific rooms, the selection is getting less and less.

westjones: we (myself, DW, DS8, DS4) are on the 2/21/04 Eastern also. We booked cat. 8 on deck 7. We loved cat. 10 on deck 7 for our 1st Disney cruise 2/22/03 and booked this cruise while on board. Hope to see you on board as well Kaitysmom.

We just book last week for Feb 28 2004 cat 10. Last year (March 2 th 2002) we were on deck 7. This time there were no cabin avalaible on deck 7 and we are almost a year in advance. So we booked a cat 10 on deck 2.

We have a Cat. 11 on deck 6 now for the 2/21/04 Eastern. Woody64, your're the first DIS member I have 'met' who will be on that cruise! I have twin DDs who will be 10 at that time. This will be our 5th cruise (we have #4 booked for September of this year, and have already been on 3 cruises).

I am really looking forward to the 7 day cruise. The one in September is a 3 day, and for some reason I find myself thinking about the 7 day one more than the 3 day one :D . The one in Septmeber is for my twin's 10th birthday, and 3 day cruises go by SO FAST! But any cruise (3, 4 or 7 day) is simply wonderful!

We are booked for the Thurs. before Valentines Day in 04 on the Wonder (actually, we have seven cruises booked for 2004, running through Nov. of that year...yes, I am an overplanner!). But we try to get secret porthole rooms, and they go pretty fast now, so that's why we plan ahead as soon as I know my company's holiday schedule.

Barb,
I appreciate you revealing the SPH rooms to the rest of us. I bet it is getting harder and harder for you to get them. For my twin DD's 10th birthday this year, I have one of them booked. It will be their very first time in a room that isn't a Cat. 11. It is their 'big' surprise for their 10th birthday. We also managed to get one of the rooms for the 4 day Dec. 19th, 2004, cruises.

So thank you, Barb and Tony, for sharing all your wonderful information. I just can not wait to see my daughters' faces when they see we have a window!
