Feb 7 2010 4 Night Bahamas

Oops! Don't know what I was thinking. I'll go back and edit my post. I think the 3 was stuck in my head because I was thinking about the meet and that is at 3pm.

How about ONE week from today we'll be boarding the ship.:thumbsup2

Whoo Hoo! One week!!!! We're leaving CA on Friday and trying to get everything in order- not just packed, but the house and all instructions for my MIL and the kids! Trying not to stress about leaving them for so long- I know they're gonna have a great time with Grandma :)

Just a few more last minute shopping trips should get me all set clothes wise! Hoping it warms up a *little* more than forecasted for right now!!!

See you all in a week!!!:banana::banana:

Yay! We leave THIS WEEK! Even though it is at the end of the week, it is still THIS week and not next. Hooray!

I thought I didn't need to do any shopping, but I think DD's Crocs are getting too small, so I think I'll go find her some new ones at the Crocs outlet. I'm also trying to think of some great ideas for things to entertain a 2 year old on a 4-5 hour flight--any ideas? We've got a sticker book and some Color Wonder books, and of course the ipod or DVD player.

We're having a beautiful sunny day here, but it is still cold outside. I'm ready for some warm or hot weather. Come on Florida and Bahamas--warm up!

Not long now, guys!! Can't wait to turn 40 on the Wonder!!:scared1:

I did the Magic for my 40th, and it was so much fun! It took some of the sting out of the big four-OH!~ :rotfl: Happy Birthday--have a wonderful trip!

See ya real soon!

We are leaving in the morning, see you guys there!

Any kids that want to call ours on the ship, we will be in 8532 (go figure).

Kimberly is 13
Dan is 12
Melanie is 11

Another from our group gets to go early--safe travels Billinaz.

See you at the meet at 3pm (Promenade Lounge) on Sunday!

Counting down!

Last minute ??'s are running through my mind. We will either leave our car @ Radisson or drive over to the port ourselves, haven't totally made up my mind yet. But I was wondering if I am supposed to put our luggage tags on before we hand them off or are they only for disembarking??

Put the tags on your bag either before you get to the port or as soon as you get there. You'll give the bags to the porters who will make sure they get on the ship and then the crew needs those tags to know what room to deliver them to. You'll get different tags on the last night of the cruise to use for disembarking.

If you have any other last minute questions, just post and we'll see if we can get them answered for you.

The trip is off to a good start!

Our First Class upgrades cleared..... so its up front for the flight!

Just a few more days until we set sail! I'd better get busy. Hoping to do some packing tonight so I don't leave it until the last minute. Also need to finish up my FE gifts.

I don't know if anyone is still checking this thread before the cruise, but if you are--see you TOMORROW! I'm at 35000 ft right now (love the free trial of WiFi on Delta. Safe travels everyone.

Everyone home? It was great to meet some of you and so fun to participate in our FE exchange- happy to report that I didn't get sick- even on our Sea day...although I did have to leave Wavebands Wed night after 5 minutes to head up in the air- thankful for my verandah- only way I could quell the icky feeling was to lay down in bed with the verandah door wide open blowing the cold air in!

HOWEVER...I've felt WORSE since on land :( Hopeing this eases up SOON! :)

Hope everyone else had a great time!

We just got home tonight, spent a couple days in Orlando. We were eating dinner the first night when I realized I had forgotten the meet @ 3pm! Too much excitement as we got on and it just completely slipped my mind, I really hate that we missed it.

Our server told us during dinner Wed. that after 8 pm, it would get rocky. This was our first cruise ever and everyone said "oh, you'll never feel the boat move". BS!! I started feeling it during dinner the first night. Wednesday night was HORRIBLE. I had been taking my Bonine everyday, but got to feeling SO sick right after the character farewell in the atrium. Hot, cold, sweaty, nauseous, dizzy. Tried going out on deck 4 for fresh air, but that made it worse. Finally took some nausea meds I had with me and tried to go to sleep. Once asleep, I was fine, although the rocking kept DH up all night. He said he thought we were gonna tip over :scared1:

We spoke to Capt. Gus when leaving and he said we had 13 foot waves that night!

I am so sad that overall, we did not enjoy cruising. Just not our thing, I guess. Might have been better if our kids were older or if they had wanted to go to the Oceaneers club more.

I have also felt bad since getting back on land. My head is swimming right now and I have felt like I am still on the boat since leaving it! Ready for that feeling to go away!

Hope everyone had a great time!

We didnt go to the farewell, I wanted to but I was SO spinny. I never felt nauseous, but I literally couldnt stand up straight. The last night was very rocky, I kept waking up.:sad2:

Hope everyone had a great time (sorry to hear bama-mom that it wasn't your thing)! We loved it, very relaxing and enjoyed lots. My kids would hardly do anything but play on the Wii in the kids' club, so that was kind of a downer - we didn't leave them in there much since I didn't want them playing computer games more than about an hour a day. :confused3

even though it was a bit cooler than hoped, it was SUNNY and that was great! it was sure rocky Wed night -between the sea bands, dramamine, ginger ale and a walk up topside i felt good enough to get to sleep. But WOW did anyone else see the water splashing in the goofy pool that night? It was 5 foot waves in there!!

thank you everyone for the FE gifts - i'm glad we participated this time, very fun and the kids got a big kick out of it!

anyone posting trip reports???

I wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful gifts that we received in the FE exchange. My boys just loved it. Hopefully all the gifts made it to the correct room #'s, the boys wanted to be the ones to deliver them.
I am also happy to report that the only sickness was my husband & 9 yr old, but it was just their allergies. Wednesday night was a little rough, we had dinner at 6:30 at Palo, I am so glad we ate early because the ship started to move pretty good later in the evening. I think we all choose a pretty good week to go, we seen yesterday that the Magic was stuck on Castaway Cay due to weather.

We can't wait to book another cruise!!

DH and I were up on Deck 9 late Wed night for me to get some air and watched the Goofy pool sloshing all over!!

I'm actually kinda grateful that we had such rough seas...it showed me that while I didn't feel super great for portions of the cruise, I LOVED it and the good far outweighed the bad- I now know I can do this, and hopefully whenever the time works out to do this again we'll have calmer seas :)

Also feeling very grateful and lucky we got to go to CC seeing as how the cruises before and after us weren't as lucky

It was so fun to meet those of you who were at the meet. I loved getting to put faces with names. I even ran into goodfaerie at the MK after the cruise. Congrats to Tara who won a shipboard credit from DVC--hope you got to spend it on something fun! Kelsiesmommy, were your girls so excited to see you? It was fun to run into you in Nassau.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the FE swap. DD and my niece had so much fun with the gifts and some of them were great bribes to get DD through dinner or the shows. I feel like we got a bit spoiled. There were so many fun ideas, I just love seeing what people come up with.

Hope everyone had a good time and a safe trip home. This was our 6th DCL cruise and the seas were pretty rough that last night. We went to a Castaway Club reception earlier that day and talked with the captain. He mentioned that we were currently sailing South East to help with the wind and waves, but that later in the night we'd have to turn around and it would get rough. He said as we crossed the gulf stream the waves would be around 14 feet so they were trying to do most of the rolling as we were sleeping--sounds like a lot of us felt that. I had a hard time sleeping with all that rocking and rolling, but at least it was just that night and not the whole cruise.

Although I would have preferred warmer weather, the 70s on the islands were nice. It was sure cold as we said goodbye to the Wonder, but it was still better than back home.

I'm hoping to get around to a trip report, but it won't be for a week or two. I noticed that Billinaz has posted a photo trip report over on the trip report section.
