Feb 7 2010 4 Night Bahamas

Oh DOH, just saw the meet time in the post right above mine. 3pm Promenade lounge, sounds like a plan!

Welcome to the newcomers to our thread!

We'd love to hear more about you, so go ahead and introduce yourself! Also, please come say hi at our meet in the Promenade Lounge on the 7th at 3pm. It is pretty informal, just a place to gather and get to know each other a bit.

We'll be sailing in less than 3 weeks!!!

Hi- My name is Vanessa and I booked this cruise"last minute" to get away from the cold. We are DVC members and I love everything about Disney!!

I have two daughters Lexi age 9 and Lily age 5. I am hoping to come to the meet!! My girls are not very good in the kids clubs because they do not know anyone and are a little shy...well at least the 9 year old. My husband's name is Ron and he fell in love with DCL after our first cruise to the Eastern two years ago.

Really hoping for some warm weather!!!!!:)

Also- is anyone going to the Atlantis while in Nassau. I am still trying to decidce if I should book a room at Comfort Suites. Just wondering if anyone has done this or is doing this???

Welcome to the thread Vanessa!

I'm hoping for some warm weather too. I know FL had a cold spell a couple of weeks ago and I sure hope that doesn't happen in 3 weeks. We went to DL last week and it was a beautiful 80 degrees that day. I'm hoping for a repeat of that weather.

DH talked about going to Atlantis, but DD is only 2 and I don't think she'd get much out of it, so I think we are going to pass. I've heard it is a lot of fun though.

In 3 weeks we will be at Castaway Cay!

Many thanks to HtomSirveaux for the UPS link and info! I found out today that my docs will be here tomorrow! Could someone please repost the info about the meet, and could someone please tell me what the FE thing is all about?:cheer2:?

Thanks!! See you all on the Wonder in 2 and a half weeks!

We are having a DIS meet on the first day of the cruise (Sunday) at 3pm, just before the muster drill. We're meeting in the Promenade Lounge. This is a good area to gather and mingle. It's pretty informal, just a chance to get together and say hello to other DISers. My first cruise I was hesitant to go to the meet, but it really is fun to see who you've messaged with, and to get to know a few people because we'll be running into each other on the ship over the next few days. Bring the family and the kids can get to know each other and will love having people they know in the clubs.

FE stands for Fish Extenders. It is a little gift swap that some of us are doing. You hang a Fish Extender just outside your stateroom door and then during the cruise you deliver a little gift to each room (or each person) who has signed up. The gifts may be homemade or store bought, just something simple but a fun thing to find left at your door. Right now we have 10 rooms participating and I think people are planning on an extra or two, so you could join if you want to. Let me know if you want more info. If you look back to earlier in this thread you'll find more info. Maybe somewhere between pages 4-7 or something like that.

We're planning on checking out Atlantis, but not the waterpark- it's just DH and I on this trip (Leaving my almost 7 year old ad 5 year old dds at home with MIL!!!). We're thinking of just heading over there to check it out, maybe do the Dig and walk around the public areas/shops/casino.

On our last 4 night cruise, we just walked around Atlantis. There was a lot to see and do without paying to be their guest. The public view of the fish tanks really does show a lot. If you haven't been there before, it's definitely worth taking a look at.

We took the water taxi to get there and back, It was a little tricky getting into the taxi, as there was a considerable drop-off from the level of the dock to the level of the water taxi. There was a local on board talking the whole way there and explaining what we were passing on the way. Very fun to hear him, and I remember he was pretty funny, too. I felt good about giving him a small tip for the info he provided.

On a separate note, I was thinking tonight how nice it sounds to by lounging on deck 9 under the stars while relaxing and watching a movie on the Dumbotron. I'm hoping that having my 12 year old niece with us will allow the wife and I at least 5 minutes to relax without chasing our 2 year old everywhere. I know that they have babysitting, but our 2 year old is our first, and we are super concerned for her (and I'm too cheap to pay for Disney's babysitting).

I just heard today that Disney is lifting the age restrictions for the kids club. I've never left a kid in the kids club (not old enough), so I don't know if it's really anything to get worked up over. I guess the thing to remember is that it's a vacation, and just kick back, relax, and not worry about it too much.

Can we sail tomorrow??? I think I'm ready.

Hey Castaway Kev--you're not ready yet. You'll still need 4 hours to pack :lmao: and then you'll be ready to go.

If you want to see some pics of Nassau, check out page 9 of this thread. I had forgotten about the big step down to the water taxi. Some of the water taxis had two levels, so it isn't always a big step down. I had also forgotten about the local who was our tour guide. On our ride over his name was Slim and he was quite entertaining. Just be prepared when the local walks around and the end and expects a tip. Our "guide" on the way back wasn't as good.

We think we've decided on the Atlantis front is to take a taxi and head over to Atlantis, and see what kind of day passes are available that day- if weather is nice, we're thinking Beach pass so we can tour the gardens/marine lagoons, etc.. walk along the beach/lounge in a chair... or else we may just do the Dig... I also want to shop a little- is the Festival MarketPlace (I think that's what it's called- just off the ship?) ok for small trinket type items? Just something to say I was there, KWIM? LOL Also, DH has a request from a coworker to get a shot glass from Hard Rock- is that closeby?

On another note- we jst decided last night to spend our last day in Orlando after debarkation in Epcot! Whoo-hoo!!!! :yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::banana:

There are definitely some cheap gift shops to pick up those souvenirs to show that you were there. One good place for that is the Straw Market and you can walk to it from the ship. It is like a big tent with several isles of booths where you can get the cheap t-shirts, woven bags, etc. Just know that it is crowded and tight in there and some people are pushy, but it is kind of the typical caribbean flea market. I'm thinking the Hard Rock is not too far away, but I could be wrong--it's been a few years since I was in Nassau.

Oh, and for those doing FEs, we have one more room on our list. I hope that is okay. They were latecomers to our thread and it is just 2 adults. I'll email out an updated list soon. So that makes 11 rooms (10 if you don't include your own).

Hi fellow cruisers!

I am so excited about the cruise! My name is Myles (Mylesie to my friends), and I'm traveling with the lovely and talented Vonna.

I'm a GED teacher for at-risk teens and young adults, and Vonna is a software engineer. We're both over 40, but our lack of maturity makes up for it! :yay:We are excited to be meeting everyone and participating in the FE Lollapalooza. We started working on our gifts and fish extender this weekend! (Thanks to Shauna for everything--grrl, you ROCK!) :goodvibes

Looking forward to the meet!
Happy Sailing--see you in 13 days!:dance3:

Hi Brenda! See you at the meet!

Can you all believe how close our cruise is getting? I haven't done anything to get ready yet. I'll be so glad to get away from the snow and cold here in Utah. I need to come up with a packing list so I can tell my niece who is coming along (her first cruse and trip to WDW).

Thanks for the email about allergies. I am allergic to mango, which can be found in dried fruit combos: and crusteans ie. shrimp, which can be found in flavored crackers and snacks. I appreciate the poster thought to ask.:thumbsup2
