Feb 4, 2007 Wonder cruise

Has anyone thought of a meeting place. How about the sail away party. We can pick a general place on deck. Everyone seems to be coming to the port at different times. We hope to be there by 10am and in the first group to board.

Any thoughts?
I'd have to recommend against the sail away party. We tried this on our last cruise, but there are just so many people there and so much going on, we only found one person. You don't want to spend the entire sail away party looking for people and miss out on the festivities.

I'm planning on being t the Sail Away party with my 2 granddaughters ages 3 & 5 with bubbles and pompoms in hand wearing bright green tags on my body. The pompoms are for the girls to shake at their parents and grandpa who should be (weather permitting) fishing at Jetty Park as the Wonder leaves port. I've not made any plans for excursions or dinner at Palo's because it's just me and I'm not sure of the whole childcare issue. Haley (5 yo) has asthma and pretty bad excema which can look horrible and cause her to itch and bleed. Taylor(3yo) is basically potty trained but is still learning the whole potty thing as well as being hearing impared. I don't have a clue as to what the procedure is in these situations. Unfortunately, we decided on this cruise less than 2 weeks ago and didn't have time to get a Medical report done and faxed to the proper offices. I figured I'm just play it by "ear" It should be fun!!!

It snowed here last night so I am even more excited to leave NJ on Saturday!! Looking at the Florida weather it looks like rain Saturday and Sunday. I am hoping that will change. I am almost packed and the kids are so excited!! We will be on the Wonder next week at this time!

How much snow did you get? We are in Burlington, NJ which is about 20 min North of Philly and only got about an inch but I feel the same way. Makes me look forward to the warm sunshine more and more. :cool1:

About the childcare, we have two children Danny 5 yrs and Adam who is going to be 3 yrs on 2/19, he is still not potty trained. Both have some issues Adam was recently diagnosed with Autism just like the discussions on The View TV show today. It affects his speech and sensory motor skills. Anyway, I still am putting him in daycare and Danny in the kids program. I will try it so they can enjoy themselves too. If it does not work out, oh well, it can't hurt to at least try. I informed Disney prior to the trip and they know about the kids in advance. Its Disney....I'm sure they are going to be great with them.

I will look for you on deck :cheer2: We will have our green mickey swatches on. :thumbsup2

:woohoo: :hourglass

We had some heavy snowfall in the afternoon yesterday but it's stopped now. Just really cold! Hard to believe we'll be in swimsuits next week. We're leaving here on wednesday morning. Praying we don't get another snowstorm.

good luck!! Hope you don't get any more snow! We're heading to wdw TOMORROW:dance3: for some wdw before our cruise... we're staying off property Wed night, then to pofq until we board the Wonder. I'm so excited. It's been so cold. I can't wait to trade boots for sunscreen:woohoo:

IT'S ALMOST TIME TO CRUISE:cheer2:  :cheer2:

We got about 3-4 inches here in South Jersey. Very unexpected and my son's school was closed. Luckily my daughters daycrare was open so my son joined her for the day. I am sure he is not happy about that but he went there too before kindergarten so I am hoping it won't be too bad for him. Since we are leaving Saturday I am taking a half day Friday and I really did not want to miss my last week of work. Hopefully this week will go really fast!

Hi everyone,

Can you believe I have just found this forum! I was trying to find people on another board and didn't know this one existed as this is our family's first Disney Cruise.

We are Mum, Dad (mid 40's)and boy 11 and girl (who will be 9 on 7th Feb!).

We are Australians :upsidedow living in Florida. We love cruising and can't wait to taste Disney. We have spent many days at Disney World this past year.

I haven't had time to read the forum yet and time is running out. I have two field trips, and open house for a magnet middle school to go to this week and still have to pack and try to find a pirate outfit or two!

I was not sure about rooms so we have a cat 11, deck 6.

Hope I get to know some of you before we embark.

Hi Clofty

We will be with you on board. We being me(41) husband(45) PJ (turning 9 Feb 6...day before your daughter),Travis(7) and Haley(6).I was at Target and bought an office birthday party pack to decorate the cabin to make the b day a little more special....it was really inexpensive and small to pack. We're from the Boston area and will be coming down Sat evening.A good friend and coworker decided to come with us at the last minute and he and his wife have 2 boys,7 and 9 or 10(4th grade). We look forward to meeting you

hi clofty. my son wesley will be so glad that there will me another boy there his age. he was worried there were only going to be girls. he is 10 and in 5th grade. we are also traveling with dd briney who is 3 and ds gradey who is 7. i am from fl but living in va. we are driving down on sat. cant wait to meet everyone in just a few days.

Our kids can hook up, Phillip is my son's name and he is 11 and in 5th grade. My daughter's name is Carina and as above she will be 9 on Feb 7. I think that's a great idea about dressing up the cabin.

Since it's our first cruise and we aren't DVC members we are still in our original Cat 11 room 6069. No upgrade for us.:sad1: I might try and upgrade at port depending on $.

Anyway we can't complain as we only paid Florida resident rate which was a good rate.

Since DH refuses to wear green, you'll have to listen carefully for our accents (the kids don't have Oz accents anymore as they have been here for 5 years).

Well must go to bed. I think some lucky ones may already be heading to Orlando by now.
PS. My name is Chris and my DH is Ian

We just got back from that other Theme Park in Orlando for DH's b'day last weekend! We had a one year pass for Disney that ran out in December.

Hope to see you on board.

Ok We are getting closer! Next week we will be having our relaxing day at sea. I thought I was ahead of the game but I feel like its crunch time. I need to get organized so when Friday night comes I can be ready to wake up early 3:30am:scared1: to get to the airport.

We opted for a 10am flight. Waking our kids at 4am for our last Disney trip made that day miserable since they were so tired.

Saturday is right around the corner. I took the rest of the week off to prepare. I am hoping I don't over pack. Trying to minimize is hard since I have never cruised witht he kids. Seems like I need everything.

I finally got my cruise docs yesturday. We will be cruising away from this cold air in no time.

We are leaving out of A.C and there is only a 7:20am flight or a 6:30pm flight and I wanted to spend some time at the Magic Kingdom so we really didn't have an option. We will try to get the kids to take a nap during the day at some point or we will keep our fingers crossed for maybe a nap on the plane.

We got some snow flurries last night and I too am excited about getting away from the cold weather. They are calling for snow on Friday again and I am hoping we will have no problems leaving Sat. morning.

FYI Everyone......

Just reading some recent cruise postings and there is now an Atlantis excursion not listed on the website that includes the pools and slides. It will be listed on the navigator. Cost is $120pp. A room at the Comfort Inn may still be cheaper.

:flower3:

Only calling for a coating on Friday night, so far that is. It really depends on the track. Hopefully for our sake, it will be further to sea. Keep your fingers crossed.......I have mine, very tightly.

I can't believe we are so close to leaving...Unfortunately we couldn't get the flights we wanted until 4pm on Sat. We will be going stir crazy by then... Anyway, we all have Boston accents and are sun deprived(pale). We're hoping to get some nice hot sunshine Although anything over 50 qualifies for pool weather.
We are in cabin 8574 ... shari

Leaving tomorrow and the weather does not look too promising.:sad2: Well I guess anything is better than 20 degrees here in NJ:rotfl:

We are on the Wonder right now in Nassau. 78 degrees and sunny!

It was raining when we left Florida, but its nice here now!

Anyone going to Atlantis??

Remember to stop by 8532 with the kids so they can get acquainted!

Glad to see you have some nice weather now and were not affected by those nasty tornadoes.

I have a quick question for anyone who will actually have time to post a reply!!!

I booked Palo but now realise it's Pirate night. I booked it for the 6th because Carina's b'day is on 7th. I booked for 7pm, but we have second seating dinner which I'm told is between 8-8.30.

What will happen with our kids that night? Do we feed them at the Buffet before we go? Will they miss out on the fun Pirate stuff at dinner? I presume an earlier time that night won't be available at Palo by the time we board the ship.

Any suggestions or experience in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Otherwise we'll just go with the flow................. hey it's a vacation to chill out and not worry about where you should or shouldn't be, I guess.
But I do know the kids are excited about Pirate night.pirate:

Thanks and enjoy the remainder of your extended Wonderous cruising vacation.

PS. We are not going to Atlantis, just to the Pirate Museum.pirate:

Did everyone have a fun cruise in spite of the weather?

clofty, if you come back to the boards, tell us all about your Gloria Gaynor impression...
