Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

Who's ready to go on a cruise?

I"M READY TO GO ON A CRUISE!!!:thumbsup2

Our guest bedroom is Packing Central. Stuff everywhere. :scared1:

Our guest bedroom is Packing Central. Stuff everywhere. :scared1:

Our home office has been designated the hotspot for all of our junk. :rotfl: The cats are kept out of there so this way we shouldn't be too hairy when we board the ship.

PS On our last cruise, our DS had just turned 5, our dd was a week from her third birthday, and our ds was 9 months, so we had one close to your son's age. It'll work! Trust me! :)

Gosh, I hope so. The other issue is with me being pregnant and having guaranteed heartburn after dinner. I'm going to need to sit up for a while so that'll extend our wakeful time by at least an hour until the yuck goes down.

I hope the nap fairy stops by a couple of times and gets DS mid-day just for the sake of my sanity. That child has more energy in his little finger than I have in my whole body. It's easy to contain at home (where's he going to go?), but when I think about a cruise ship I start wondering if maybe I should buy him a leash. :rolleyes1 We were standing at the cash register at a store a couple of weeks ago and while I was swiping my card he thought it'd be a good idea to run out through the automatic doors. He got stopped by a clerk bringing carts in, but I almost peed myself. Of course, it was the one time I just needed to buy *one* item and didn't have him in a cart. (He's really getting to be to heavy for me to get into the cart by myself, anyway.) He used to be the kid who was afraid of *everything* and wouldn't dare leave my side. Why couldn't he stay that way until after this trip?! :headache:

So, who's traveling with a 7 year old boy?
How 'bout a 5 year old girl?

I am! My DD is 5... going on 16 :lmao:

We have late dining as well. We normally eat about 5:30 or 6 so it should be interesting. I think my current plan is to feed her around her normal dinner time and then take her to the kids club while we eat. I would like for her to have dinner with us so I might just feed her before, have her come to dinner for a snack, and then take her to the club after a little while.

We have early dinner. We usually eat at @6-6:30. I didn't even think of doing anything else until I started reading here. If I had thought about it, I would have gone with your plan.

And, my little Nicole is also going on 16. Are you going to the meet? I didn't RSVP but if there is a chance to meet other potential playmates, I'm in.

Well its almost time for our "WONDER"ful cruise :boat: - I know some of you are heading down early so I just wanted to give one last shout out :mic:

MEET - We are planning on meeting around 3:00pm on Sunday - near the kiddie splash pool on deck 9, near the Mickey Pool. There is no need to RSVP - if you can come - great - we would love to meet you - if you are late - no problem - if you said you were coming, then something comes up and you don't make - no sweat - it is completely INFORMAL - those who come will socialize and get to know each other. It will be a great time for the kids to meet and make new friends (as well as the adults). It will help them in the clubs to know a familiar face :yay:.

Wear something lime green :thumbsup2 (doesn't have to be clothing - we are just doing ribbons on our shirts and on our bags) - who knows you might meet up with someone in the terminal. My DD will have her pirate: mickey ears on, with her lime green ribbon!

I want to thank all of you who have been posting this past months - it has been FANTASTIC getting to know each of you and posting here has really helped to pass the time.

For those on FE Exchange - happy swapping - I can't wait to see everyones FE - my girls are so excited to hand out our gifts. Thanks to each of you for participating - again remember - no rules - hand out your gifts when you have time - just remember to allow time for packing!!!

I want to wish each family a safe trip to the port :moped: - keeping my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates for everyone and that it warms up for us all.

Happy last minute packing :scared1: Praying that we didn't forget anything

My DD is also 5 (will turn 6 day after cruise), and DS is 3 but looks like he's 5 (LOL).

Can't wait to see ya'll!

Awesome. DD is a tiny little thing but a pretty grown up 5. And I can relate to the 3 looks like 5 thing. Kyle has always looked two or three years older than he is. (he is 4'8 at age 7 and already in adult sized shoes).

I am going to try to make it to the meet. Will I see you there?

I'm close. How about a just turned 8 year old boy and a 5 year old girl? :) And a almost three year old boy, and a seven month old girl!

We'll probably be at the meet! I'd love for the older two to meet a few potential playmates for the clubs.

A few others have posted their plans for the late dinner. What we did last time was feed the kids around their normal eating time (around 5-6ish), went to the show, then to dinner, they had something light, then one of us took them to the clubs. I just read though that at 9pm, there is a kids club counselor at each restaurant to take the children to the clubs. Might be handy, though we'll probably take ours down earlier. I also allowed our oldest son play DS for part of the meal. A few people gave us dirty looks, and our server gave me a hard time about letting him play when there was so much to experience, but know what? I would rather have a quieter meal and a happier child than an unhappy child "experiencing" all there is to experience at dinner!

Woo hoo! Getting excited! The kids called my inlaws, who are joining us on this cruise, and sung "Only four more nights, only four more nightss, only four more days til Disney World, only four more nights, only four more nights, only four more nights til Disney World" to the tune of Oh my Darling Clemantine" followed up with the second verse of, "Only six more nights, only six more nights, only six more nights til our cruise...". They loved it! And so did we!

Happy packing!!

I remember reading something about a family game show. Anyone heard of it? Does it still exist on the ship? How early do you have to be there? How do they choose participants? I want to step out of my "shy shell". lol!

The family game shows are alot of fun - more fun if you get selected!!! We've participated in Mickey Mania and Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer, both at Studio Sea.

At Mickey Mania, they pick four (? maybe 3?) parent/child couples to be contestants. They do this at the beginning of the show, you just jump up and down and show your enthusiasm! My eldest was 12 when he and I were picked - it really made his day!:cool1: They ask a variety of trivia questions, using multiple formats. You buzz in to give your answer - fastest buzzer gets to answer first.

At Mouseketeer, it is typical "Millionaire" set up, with Disney based trivia questions. Everyone is given a number when they walk in; they call numbers to pick the next contestant. They move thru the game pretty fast to allow as many contestants as possible. If a child's number is picked, they can bring another person (adult or child, it doesn't matter) along to help them. The structure is loose and fun (i.e., they don't take it too seriously). When one of my youngest was a contestant, he made it to the last question, which was really, really hard (it was obscure, I don't remember it). We missed the question, he got a DCL picture frame and a "Who wants to be a Mouseketeer" Disney pin! For a kid, it was better than 1st Prize, which was a DCL paperweight.

I know on our 7 night cruises, Millionaire is played on multiple nights; may be the same for Mickey Mania. They are quick and fun - I think they only last about 1/2 hour or so? You can often take them in after dinner but before the main show, if I'm not mistaken.

Hope you get picked! Have fun!!!

:yay:

Thanks Tammy! Same to you! Thank you for getting this group started, keeping it going, and for all the work you put into the FE! I know I speak for the group when I say "You're amazing"!

Looking forward to meeting everyone, but my nervousness in talking to new people is kicking in. If I don't seem friendly, please know that its just becuase I'm really nervous. ;) There's my disclaimer! How will we recognize each other?

I'm with you - I'm not good in social situations - I tend to hang back as well

Look for the lime green - that's our identifying color

Thanks for the compliments - it was my pleasure!

Looks like we are doing the same thing - two Disney days before the cruise! We are driving down from Maryland Thursday evening, throught the night. We will be in the parks Friday and Saturday. We should find a way to hook-up.

Maria

I'm not really counting but.... only 87.5 hours until we begin the drive to our most magical (hopefully) vacation yet!!!

I'll be wearing my lime green DIS t-shirt and lime green PGA tour hat at the terminal and at the Meet and Greet. We plan on being at the terminal by 10:30 A.M. so you should see me lurking around.:cool2:

Good luck and safe trip to all those leaving before Friday!:thumbsup2

We're flying down eeeaaarrrllly Friday morning. Our plane takes off at 5:30, layover in Atlanta (groan....hate Atlanta airport, nothing for kids to do) and finally lands at MCO at 12:19pm. We'll spend that day at AK, Saturday at HS, then Sunday we're having Happy Limo take us to terminal. We'll be there by 10:30.

We'll be there by 10:30 too! I don't have any lime green stuff , but you'll hear us before you see us! My husband is 6'7", my fil is just a little shorter, the four kiddos, my mil, and me. We'll be loud and obnoxious!! I'll watch for you!

Hey look! I figured out how to multi quote!!! Woo hoo!!
