Feb. 26, 2012 Mexican Riviera

Hi all!
The Fish Extender group will officially close to new members January first. So, if you are still considering joining, please do so soon! We'd love to have you!
After January first, we will no longer take new members, as we will need to allow time for the FE group to get the correct number of gifts together.
Thanks so much!
Marcy

And if you have already joined the group, come on over to our board, as we're discussing dates to hand out the gifts! See you there!

Is anyone else doing online check in today? I'm not sure what I should select as our port arrival time. I would think the earlier the better but I'm not sure. We will be coming from our hotel in Anaheim so I would think we should allow at least 30 - 45 minutes of travel time to get to the port.

I always choose the earliest. Then you can get on whenever you want.

We booked the Harbor Tour at the excursions desk. The desk folks were great. We had had something else booked and needed to change it to something else. The Harbor Tour was available and she put us into that one. You can either book it online once you hit your booking window or you can try to book it when you get on the boat. I am also sure that you can just hire a tour when you hit land. It's probably cheaper that way as well. We chose to do all excursions through Disney, but if you do them privately they cost less.

Ninety days! :yay:

I completed our online check in and got our reservations for Palo and booked Las Caletas for Puerto Vallarta. I was surprised that we got the Palo reservations. Last time they weren't available to us online and we had to wait until we boarded the ship to get them. We are having brunch on our second sea day and dinner on Pirate Night :woohoo:.:woohoo:

And we picked 11am for our port arrival time!

I'm getting so excited!

ETA This will be our first dinner at Palo's! We only did brunch the first time (loved it) but didn't want to miss any of the scheduled dinners. This time we felt comfortable skipping Pirate Night's dinner. I can't wait to try the chocolate cake that everyone talks about. It wasn't an option during our brunch.

Thanks for the suggestions... I think I will book at least one shore activite thru Disney... online. BTW what is Palo? I am really need to read more.

Thanks again... I am so excited I think more than my daughter... :yay:

I'm with the Roughriders fan, it gets cold here in Alberta but we have had the most amazing fall so I haven't started getting the winter blues yet. Can't wait to set sail though! A week with no social media and Internet, just lots of wonderful family time. We fly out in two months from Christmas day!!!!!!!

We're all getting so excited now! We told the kids about the cruise on Christmas eve and once they realized we weren't kidding they were VERY excited. :goodvibes Now they want to know everything about the ship (is it different than the Magic) about our room, about the activities, about Mexico. It'll be a fun, FAST few weeks until we leave. Is anyone else concerned about it being cold on the sea days? I know the kids will want to be in the Mickey pool and honestly THEY won't care a bit if it's chilly but I will. I guess I'll be packing a light jacket this time just in case. We booked a dinner at Palo for the 4 adults in our group so we're all really excited about that.:banana: Are we there yet??

Ready for another stint on the Wonder! Back to back this time. Lookout Mexico, here comes the CruiseCowboy, once again. PV and Manzanillo in the summer was nice but way too hot. Mid Feb is perfect! Hoping for calmer seas, longer excursions and some chill out time.

I dont need stuff from FE (no kids) but I plan on bringing some giveaways for the doors that are extra cool. Cowboy themed of course; from Calgary, Canada (the Stampede City).

PS. Based on a back to back I took around the same time in 2011, the 1st sea day to PV and the last back from Cabo are indeed chilly. Jackets, however, IMHO are not an appropriate cruise packing item. Way too much space taken up. If its cold, you stay inside. Save the room for your suntan lotion and extra bathing suit. :cool2:

I keep vacillating between giddy excitement and nervousness since I don't know what I'm doing!

We've talked about a Disney Cruise for quite awhile and finally just booked it. Got the last 2 adjoining cabins on the ship and paid in full.

Eeeeeeek!!!!

Traveling with DH and our six children (ages 13, 10, 8, 8, 4, and 2).

Spent the morning completing my online check-in along with making reservations at Palo (got both brunch AND dinner!) and childcare for my 2 year old while we are eating.

Questions:
How do I know the dining schedule? I noticed someone mentioning they scheduled Palo for the Pirate Night dinner. How do I know which night dinner I will miss to instead eat at Palo???

How does the pre-booking of the excursions work? If I reserve them right now, do I pay for them right now? Can I change my mind? Is it just better to book once we are on the ship and are sure we want to do something?

As a first time cruiser, I thought I would just want to stay on the ship because getting off feels so overwhelming with all the choices and our large family! But now I am looking over the excursions and they look so fun..... What to do, what to do??? :)

Does everyone decorate their door.....? This is something I wouldn't have ever imagined until perusing these boards.

What else do I need to know????

Hi Allison,
Welcome aboard! You're going to have a great time! You won't find out your dining reservation until you get to the ship. It will be listed on your key to the world card. But, somewhere on these boards someone posted the Navigators (the activity schedules for each day.) Anyone have that link off hand? That will show which night is which. I believe that Pirate Night is Thursday night. Formal night is Monday night. And Semi Formal Night is Friday night. Hope that helps!

There is so much to do! Have fun! :)

Oh, and if you're interested in joining the Fish Extender exchange (your kids would LOVE it!) check in with our FE board. Tomorrow is the last day to join before we close the group so everyone can prepare their gifts for the exchange. Look into it! :)
Here's our FE board:

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Jan. 1, the Fish Extender group will close to new people, so that our current group has time and the final list to prepare gifts for the exchange. If you've been considering joining, it's the last day to do so!

You book excursions now but don't pay for them until on the cruise. I would book now to make sure you get what you want...you can cancel them online 3 days before we sail (I would do 4 or 5 to be sure) and not get charged.

Lots of people decorate doors but not all...make sure you do magnets, tape is not allowed.

Happy planning!

Happy New Year everyone!!!!

The FE group is now closed. If you're in the group, head on over to our board to see the final # of cabins/participants!

Has there been anymore talk of a meetup onboard?

Marcy

It will probably be a bit chilly on the first and last day, but since Mickey's Pool is heated when the temp goes below 75 degrees, it shouldn't be an issue for the kids. Of course, we adults get the hot tub! :)

Let the countdown begin! Has anyone else booked the Pirate Cruise in PV? We're hoping there will be lots of other families joining us so we can occupy the kids on the long journey.

Hi everyone!!!

Yes, I waited until the last minute to book but we did it.:cool1: Will be joining all you lovely DISers!! I am so excited!!! Sad that I missed out on the FE but thats ok because this is my husbands and I first cruise without the kids:banana: Let us know if you are doing a meet and greet!!!!

Ooh! A cruise without the kids! Fun! Welcome aboard!

Anyone interested in a meet & greet out there!?!?!

Happy New Year to everyone. :cheer2: Welcome to all the newcomers!

Allison: We usually dont book too many excursions. My dd will be 8 on this cruise and we like to enjoy the ship while everyone is off the ship.:) I did however, book an excursion for just my dh and myself in cabo...I dont know what its called, but we are visiting the tequilla distillery!:yay:

We are getting more and more excited here and keep buying more FE items. I better stop soon or I will have to pack an extra suitcase just to bring those in.

Counting down the days till DH is home from Iraq. His contract ends Jan 31st so we expect him home sometime around Feb 7th!!party: Three and a half years working over there is LONG ENOUGH!!!

Marcy, its always fun to meet up with everyone on board, just to put names with faces, but sometimes its so busy, we forget about it. If we do set up a meet, the best time is right after the musterdrill, just before the sailaway celebration.
